The rest of the staff is also amazing -- they were so welcoming and made everything feel like such a smooth process for us. We're so lucky to have found them! His teachers are outstanding and truly care about the children. They keep us updated throughout the day with notes and pictures, which gives us so much peace of mind and makes us feel connected to his day. Terrible experience leaving the school…read more My two boys were selected for the their scholarship program, which provided 3 months of lower tuition. After some consideration, we ultimately decided to part ways after the scholarship concluded. Everything seemed fine until it came time to collect my children's belongings. Prior to starting school, the administration asks for 5-7 full outfit sets per child, depending on the class and if your child is undergoing potty training, in addition to other items like blankets, towels, etc The first bag of belongings the school gathered for me only contained blankets. Keep in mind, I had two kids attend this school. I wasn't given any heads-up about the lack of clothing and failed to check the bag until I got home as I genuinely trusted the staff to do their due diligence and collect everything. So I called to inquire about the other clothing and it took about 3-4 follow-ups until I was finally told to come pick up the clothing. However, this second bag did not include a single t-shirt or pair of socks. I was told they would search for those items and that I would get an update the following week, but never received a call. When I would call, the faculty would pass me off to each other, each assuring me they were working on finding the remaining clothes and apologizing for not getting back to me. It was obvious they wanted me to just forget about it. They mentioned searching through the laundry room, multiple classrooms, and other rooms. How all those t shirts and socks just disappear is beyond me. Not to mention, my son's favorite Bluey towel and a very nice North Face jacket. After waiting another week, I emailed the director, Lily Hernandez, to express my frustration over the situation. She's always been quick to email back so I was sure she'd offer a resolution. Wrong! She completely ignored me - not a peep. I waited and sent another email but still received nothing. I called and asked for her a few times but was always told she wasn't there. That being said, I've never experienced this level of unprofessionalism, particularly from the director of an educational institution. It was clear she couldn't care less about losing my kids' clothing now that I'm not paying the school. I'm still shocked by the lack of accountability, and this unfortunately highlights the sad state of today's educational climate, where any random, unqualified person can apparently wiggle their way up the administrative ladder without any genuine values or integrity, and end up running a school. Even if it's just a pre-school, we deserve better.

We have started our second child there at 5 months old. Here is a brief description of the classes our daughters has attended; the infant room is 8 children max with 2 care givers. They have a policy of 4 children max per care giver. What I like most is that I get a written records of the feedings, naps, and diapers at the end of the day. The toddler room was toughest room with our little one but she eventually fell in love with the instructors, we really appreciated how excited she was to see them. Also, this is where she really started the sign language and independent play. By far her favorite instructors. Now our oldest is in the beginners room and she is counting and exploring. What I like most is the daily emails that describe what the class did that day. The experience we have had at Merryhill had been great, the detail that stands out is the engaged staff. It's the people that my daughters are excited to see.

I have been part of the Doral Saddle community since 2014, when my nephews first began attending,…read moreand now as a parent myself. In all of those years, I have never felt strongly enough about a school decision to leave a negative review. Unfortunately, only three weeks into this school year, I am extremely disappointed and concerned by some of the changes being made. Over summer break, the school replaced the carpet, and we have now been told that students in grades 1-8 can no longer have snack time. I genuinely do not understand how removing an opportunity for children to have a small snack during a long school day is in their best interest. Adults working an eight-hour shift are given breaks and a lunch period because we understand that people need time to eat, reset, and refocus. Why would we expect children to function differently? Hungry students are not going to be more focused or productive in the classroom. What makes this even more frustrating is that the new carpet policy appears to affect more than snack time. Classroom birthday and holiday celebrations are also being taken away or significantly limited. Lunch has been suggested as an alternative for birthday celebrations, but students already have a very short lunch period. That is hardly enough time to eat their meal, let alone pass out treats or goody bags, sing Happy Birthday, or participate in a small classroom activity. Not every family wants to simply send a goody bag home. Part of what makes elementary school special is being able to celebrate those little moments with classmates. I understand wanting to protect an investment in new carpet, but when protecting flooring begins taking priority over experiences and routines that benefit students, I think it is reasonable for parents to question whether the right decision was made. Flooring should serve the school not dictate the student experience. This is particularly disappointing because I truly love the staff at this school. I love this school enough that I am involved with the PTSO and willingly give a good amount of my free time volunteering, not only for my own children's classrooms, but for the school and its students as a whole. I would not invest that time if I did not genuinely care about this community. I have also noticed a difference in the overall atmosphere this year. Staff members seem more rushed and overwhelmed, and some of the warmth and happiness that has always made this school feel special seems to be missing. I obviously cannot speak for individual staff members or say exactly what is causing that change, but as a longtime member of this school community, the difference has been noticeable and honestly very sad to see. Meanwhile, there are areas where changes would be incredibly valuable particularly the car loop, drop-off, and pickup process. I wish the same level of attention being given to restricting snacks and classroom celebrations were being directed toward issues that have a much greater impact on families every single day. For years, I have happily supported and voted for this school as one of the best. This will be the first year that I cannot do that without hesitation. I sincerely hope the administration listens to parent feedback and reconsiders some of these decisions. I am writing this because I care about this school, its staff, and its students. After being part of this community for more than a decade, it is incredibly disappointing that this is the first time I have felt compelled to publicly express this level of concern. I truly hope this school year moves in a more positive direction and that decisions going forward prioritize what is best for the students and the people who make this school what it is.

One small piece of feedback from our personal experience is that we wish the higher-level students were challenged a bit more academically. That said, everything else about the school has been positive, and it's clear how much care goes into building such a strong, inclusive community.

We took our 2 year old to a different daycare that charges much less and they couldn't help our son. He's highly sensitive and he's only 2 so his whole remembered life experience is during quarantine. It was hard for him to adjust. But they laid with him until he got used to napping there and he adjusted really well They keep the kids busy with projects all the time. We get pictures of him drawing and playing outside and learning with interactive toys. Like "fishing" or "milking a cow" or figuring out fun puzzles. In the spring they gardened!!! I can't show him gardening at home. I don't have a yard or the space or time to do that. He gets to play with dirt at school!!! He loves it. He really really loves it. And I was afraid he wouldn't be able to go to daycare yet. I didn't know what we were going to do. And because of the teachers here he's thriving. And he already knows his colors! I help with that too but I really think it's Kindercare that got him there so quickly.

Whether it has to do with education or healthcare (both of which were significantly better in Orange County). I enrolled my child at Shenker after talking to all the parents I would meet at the park in my neighborhood who would sing the school's praises. I am happy to say, Shenker lived up to my expectations. My child does not speak English as his primary language, and I was worried about how that would affect him. Also if I might add, I would get unsolicited comments from other educators concerning my refusal to speak English to my child at home. I am an educator ( I have a Masters in education and another Masters in school counseling) and I knew he would pick up English just as I did. Upon meeting with Dr. Sharon, he agreed with my approach concerning my son learning two languages, and put me at ease. My son has greatly improved academically and socially at Shenker. He is so happy to go to school, and everyone in the front office knows his name, as they do with ALL the students that attend their school. Dr. Sharon has truly been a joy to work with, and I see how much he cares for his staff and for his students at school. He knows every student's name and he works with every family to accommodate their needs. I honestly believe this school's success comes from the top down. I want to thank Shenker and Dr. Sharon for giving me peace of mind in the most important aspect of my life; my child's safety and education. Yours truly, Samvel's mom.

Plus we were struggling on how to get him to sleep in his crib and they managed to do it in one night!! And we were able to continue it moving forward (for the most part, you know how stubborn some babies can be haha!). We worked with Giselle at first and she was so thorough and loving toward our baby. Then we were assigned with Beth who's been with us longer. She's been so great with our baby. She is mindful of our needs and makes sure he gets plenty of sleep which is just as important as my own. We also appreciate Karla, owner of this company. She responds and communicates well. If we had an issue she addressed it fairly quickly and made us feel at ease. It's hard to let someone in your home to help you. But being able to get more rest helped make me a better mom and wife. Would definitely recommend them even if it's a short time. Karla will select the caregiver(s) for you and will provide a resume and qualifications of the caregiver for you to review. All the overnight caregivers have been good. It would've been perfect if we were able to get the same caregiver every week, but due to availability, we would get her most of the time, but there were other times when we couldn't. There was one time when we thought our regular overnight caregiver was scheduled, but a different caregiver showed up. There was no heads up or communication of this change. We understand things happen and things come up, but communication could've been better at that time. I appreciated the apology and the discount for the inconvenience. Communication overall was good. Overall this agency is wonderful to have at least once or twice a week if you want to catch up on some sleep for the first few months.
