Things I've eaten here:
Wood oven goat, with green olives. Gamey, meat goodness.
Pizza, which matches (if not excels) the 'best' of the newest, trendiest 'za bars in Adelaide. Too good.
Wood oven bugs; stuffed baby squid; granchi diavolo. Simple, tasty pleasures.
House-made sausage. Actually just like Nonno's.
Pasta, pasta, pasta. Carb loading heaven.
Cappuccino panna cotta. I was so happy!
Things I've LOVED here:
All of the above.
I'm a definite fan of Martini's food - it's simple, honest, authentic Italian, made with absolute love. Much of it is hand/house made.
Chef's granchi diavolo - crab meat, chilli, parsley, baked in it's shell and served with a seafood risotto - is Adelaide's original: and I don't joke, I actually have dreams about it.
The wine list is standard, and reasonably priced: all the usual culprits. The staff perform their duties with little fuss.
It's a no-brainer kind of place - a perfect mid-week spot, for a brilliant bowl of pasta and glass of wine, or weekend 'last minute table of twelve' kinda place. Foodies will lurve the sense of love from the kitchen; Mum will love that there's a NZ savvy blanc on the list. Know what I mean? Something for everyone.
Ring a few days ahead for the goat. (Then ring me - yay, date night!). read more
