We purchased a brand new car from Martin Kia last year. At the time of sale, they did not have anyone to detail the vehicle. The salesman gave me his card and promised a free detail when we brought the car back in. We tried to schedule this multiple times, and they refused to provide the service. Fast forward to the first oil change: My wife arrives 10 minutes early for the appointment. It takes them 1.5 hours before they even get to her car. Fast forward to now: We try to schedule an appointment for the 16k maintenance and they don't respond to the app, and they don't pick up the phone. We like the car but we will never make the mistake of purchasing a vehicle here again. read more

I purchased said vehicle from Martin Kia/Martin Auto Mart/Martin Auto Plex (this company has MANY different names online - beware). After MULTIPLE service appointments producing less than satisfactory work, MULTIPLE conversations with managers (whom - might I add, are 7 out of 10 times no longer there the next time I visit) I have found that every customer service or vehicle service I have received has been EXTREMELY unpleasant. Today's Example (this is one of many): I dropped my car off at my scheduled appointment @ 0800 hours, when I arrive - not only is the service associate "unsure" of what to do with my vehicle (applying clear coat pain protectant) - remember this was scheduled 2 weeks prior. I wait until 0900 hours to speak with someone who "details" the cars and who "handles the clear coat protectant". I am shuffled from one individual to the next, and finally a salesperson (who was initially supposed to schedule the appointment - CARLOS - and failed to do so) takes my keys and says "we will get it done" and sends me on my way. I call at noon, to get a status, "they will call you when they are finished" from the operator. I call at 1645 hours (4:45pm) and ask about the status of my vehicle. The service technician is "unsure if it's even been completed - but you can come pickup your car - our detailer left earlier with COVID". Long story short, my car was NOT touched and had been there all day - not to mention I spent 2 hours of PTO (Paid Time Off) because a "quick drop off" turned into a 2 hour ordeal, I was told that my car would be completed - did not occur. I was also NOT called or informed that my vehicles plans had changed and lastly....the big picture.... this is a CHRONIC issue with this business. I have yet to receive honest answers, decent customer service and just about everyone I have dealt with has an attitude (probably because customers are really upset with the lack of customer service they have received, present or past). 1.) Martin Kia is NOT a BBB accredited business. 2.) If you have experienced customer service less than admirable, I ask you to submit a review to Google, Yelp, BBB, Car Guru, etc. and share your experiences. 3.) Spread the word about this car dealership - cars are investments these days and you all need someone that will BACKUP THEIR PRODUCTS. **SERVICE EXPERIENCE UPDATE: I came back to the dealership next day - worked with Jacob (operations management) and he ensured that my vehicle's clear coat protectant would be handled appropriately. He checked with a nearby dealership to see if he could have my car completed same day, he was able - I was delivered home - and returned to a completely detailed car, clear coat applied, and he topped off the tank for my troubles. Worst service experiences I've ever had at a dealership! The sales team was so inattentive, when we were purchasing a telluride in 2019, that we left and went to another Kia dealer, in Indiana, to purchase our Telluride. We brought it in for repairs and oil changes for 4 years because they're the only local Kia dealer. The service department was even worse. They were impossible to get on the phone to answer questions. They insisted that the AWD coupler that is in the middle of the PowerTrain is not covered by the PowerTrain warranty. When we found out that it IS covered by the extended warranty we bought, we brought it back in to have Martin Kia do the repairs. They increased the cost $400-500 above the extended warranty by marking up parts and labor. They later countered to $100 above the warranty coverage only after my husband contacted the warranty company, District Service Manager, corporate, and the dealership that sold the vehicle. Pretty shady!!! I would not recommend this dealership to anyone! We will drive the 2 hours to the dealer that sold us the Telly, where there are honest employees that don't try to gouge their customers. read more

Just purchased a brand new 2021 K5.... two days later will already be taking it in for service. Dash board does not come on, nor does Heat and Air without restarting vehicle multiple times. Then to top things off, I received a text from our Sales Rep one business day after purchasing saying if we purchase they are giving away a 65in tv. When I asked for information, he said we did not qualify since we already purchased. Honestly, it is not about the TV - it is about customer service. Because they sent us this text (to a brand new customer) in error they should honor it. Customer Service is lacking so much today, when I spoke to the manager there he was absolutely rude and dismissive. Well now that I am taking this 2021 vehicle in for service, I guess we will see how their service department is??? read more

Had to pay to have rotor fixed on a brand new 2023 Sportage that should have been covered. Said it was due to heavy and excessive braking. Seriously? This is our 7th KIA and NEVER had a brake or rotor problem with any of them. But Martin KIA "made it right" by giving us a discount on what should have been covered. Took my car in to get serviced for an oil change and to check out my back tire because it started losing air that day. I told the guy that I wanted them to check and see if there was something stuck in the tire since the tires were still new and in good condition, to which he agreed to check it out. I picked my car up later that day and noticed that I didn't get my inspection report, something that I look at and review for future repair and maintenance needs. I then noticed I didn't get an updated mileage sticker for my windshield, oh well. I just chalked it up as the department being too busy and skipping the little details. I asked about the tire and the tech said they didn't see anything and that I should go to a tire shop if I wanted a better answer. I was confused by this since they maintenance everything else on my car BUT OH WELL. I assumed the guy knew what he was talking about, since I hadn't had any issues out of service techs with Kia before. Two days later my tire is flat. To my surprise and delight, I notice a nail in my tire. Something that would have been easily spotted if someone had checked it out while it was in the shop getting serviced. This is my 2nd time going to kia my first car was GREAT cant complain one bit this time HOW EVER. Went the 8th of March and traided my 14 kia Rio in and got an 18 dodge journey with 17000 miles on it. With end the first two weeks I noticed how it was pouring out power steering fluid called the shop was told to bring it in so I did. Got there and found out it had a headlight problem too. But was TOLD that my car was DANGEROUS to drive cause how fast it would lose power steering fluid!! And that they was getting me a rental waited another hour or so just to be told they couldn't find one drive slow. U got two parking lots FULL of vehicles and u want me to put my 3 kids in a car you just told me was dangerous. Drove slow all the way home. The next day Easter sunday they found a rental I could use go back up their get the rental just for it to give me a low gas and tire warning by the time I hit the stop light! They had my car from sunday to Wednesday go and pick it up. Get on highway get up to speed and my car is SHAKING SOMETHING AWEFUL get off highway cant even do 50 mph without car shaking. Took it back and was told that because it sat from sunday to Wednesday that ALL 4 OF MY TIRES now have flat spots and that the shaking was nothing to be concern about!! Now flat spots are NOT CAUSED CAUSE MY CAR SAT FOR A FEW DAYS naw flatspots are caused when ur going real fast and u hit the breaks and slide!! So I went in for one problem that became such a headache and left with a bigger problem now I got to pay 400 or more for tires when they were FINE when I drop my car off read more

Went to look at a used vehicle they had. Live 100 miles away and had a pregnant wife. Wife was sick and couldn't make the trip so I made the venture solo. Arrived and the vehicle had some minor cosmetic defects and the wife was afraid to pull the trigger. Daniel and the GM allowed me to take the car home for 4 days (out of state) so that my indecisive and still-pregnant wife could make a better informed decision. Update: 27DEC2016 Called the service technician I am supposed to be dealing with after calling twice to get ahold of him and all the while being told he would call me back. He finally was there when I called and said my vehicle would be done by today. Now I'm at the dealership and my vehicle still hasn't been looked at and they told me that it would be done tomorrow sometime. I don't even want to give them a star. Shaun Duncan was contacted 4 times and never returned a call when he said he would. He never emailed back when emailed twice about keys. When talking with the manager at Martin Kia of scottsville road she was a completely rude lady that did not do anything as a manager to help a customer. This is the worst dealership that I have ever worked with and the customer service is terrible. They act like they are trying to help and do everything for you when all they want to do is sell a car. Yep I jumped on the Kia wagon and bought the new Kia Soul with the Whole Shebang! Package. We rolled her out of the Showroom Floor! Love my New Car and all the Great Gadgets in it. Went for the Alien.. The green car seen in the Hamster commercial. Did I say I Love this Car? Yes! But.. The Service at Martin Kia is appalling. At the first rain I noticed a leak in the roof where the glass meets the roof just left of the rear view mirror. With Full Warranty, I thought No Worries, Right? Wrong! To make a Very Miserable story short, including being told it was the wear and tear from the car wash that I used Twice! We dealt with this for 2 weeks of taking car in, trying to convince them the leak was there and had to tell them How to position water Above the roof like it's raining Not over the hood to see it. Really? Had to call Better Business Bureau and the Kia company to finally get my car fixed! Then the tech left black smudge marks and black tar substance on different areas of car! A tech did come out after I showed the Lady and cleaned it off. Also found a candy bar wrapper in the floorboard. What? Who does that? I when in to KIA last year and was looking for a new car, Maria met me and was so nice in helping me. I ended up purchasing a used 2014 KIA Sportage which was a trade-in. I knew exactly who had traded in the car and was thrilled with my purchase. Everything when well and I have been placed with my KIA Sportage. About a years later I had an accident and decided that I wanted Martin Body Shop to do my repair work. Everything was going well until trying to get in touch with the body department. The web-site I was given came up as a bad-site. Back to calling and trying to find out what was going on with the car. Called and called and was sent to a machine every time. If you are in a hurry this is not the department you want to fool with at all. You will get the run-around and hopefully you get to talk to a person and not the machine. As far as the Automobile itself, I love my KIA Sportage. But service is another story. read more

Love Kia autos.I have owed 2010 Soul,2011 Sorento ,2013 Forte and now1n 2014 Forte. Love the look and options of the Kia autos. Have bought both the Forte's from Martin Kia, sales is rated at 80%, I kept coming back to this dealership due to the out-standing service department, which I have always dealt with Dave. WILL NOT RETURN TO THIS SERVICE DEPARTMENT,the last 2 times that I have taken my 14 Forte in for oil change/tire rotation I have had to deal with a lady. She is rude. At 18000miles I was told my new car needed an front end alignment, now at 28000 miles was told it needed another alignment, tires are wearin on front. When my husband ask the service lady why it needs done again ,she stated that some businesses don't do the alignment correctly, surprise Martin Kia did the alignment the first time. When she was told this, then we were told that small cars need alignments more than other cars. Then she told my husband that we needed to replace engine air filter and cabin filter.. The time before this service visit , I had an appointment, my son and 2yr old grand-daughter went with me, understand I have never had to wait more than 45 minutes to have my car serviced before this date, but that day we waited 2 hours before the lady even had my car in the service bay, when I asked how much longer she said that she had only 1 tech and that she needed to get customers in that showed up. Well what about us, we made an appointment so we wouldn't have to wait. Then she was rude when I told her to just move my car out of bay and forget the service. I don't know what happened to Dave in their service department, but they need to bring him back.. I will not buy another car from them, or have my car serviced there again unless Dave is there.. Losing alot of business with the rude lady in the service department. Another thing ,which is the biggest problem I have with this service department now is that I feel that it is unprofessional for a woman to "rub" on a male customer to get him to buy or pay for more services that his auto does not need or that he has already told her "no" .
