Called to ask about scratch and dent washers when our 20 yr old one decided to retire.... was told they had one "return and repair", for a very nice (low) price.......washers have gotten expensive in the last 20 yrs or so...... Went to look at it next morning, liked the washer, asked about delivery fees, and was told delivery (and set-up) was free! Even on their "seconds", delivery and set-up was still free, and not only that, haul away of the old one was included (even though it was in pieces, as I had investigated to see if it could be repaired). Delivery was set for 8-10 the next morning (!). The serviceman called at 805, and arrived at 815. 2 young guys, which was fortunate, as our washer is down a narrow set of stairs, into our low-ceilinged basement. I had everything ready for them, including removing the basement door, in the hopes of helping a little. With a bit of work, they first removed the old washer, and then, using carry straps rather than a hand truck, they were able to get the new washer down the steps (tight fit! about 2" of clearance) and into a ready position. They also installed new hoses (also free), and lifted and leveled the new washer on the cinder blocks we have as stands (our basement gets about a half to an inch of water, depending on how bad the storm), and made sure it was functional before heading off to their next stop. Very clean, quick, and professional! Was the best price I found, even after calling numerous other places (including the big-box retailers and so-called discount places). We are more than happy with our new GE washer (which has a very large capacity, even larger than our "max capacity" one they removed). Had a great experience buying a dishwasher at Martin's in Brownstown. Glendon did a great job explaining our options and was patient as I asked a LOT of questions since dishwashers have changed since I got my last one. We settled on a 800 series Bosch which I have been using for 3 months and I love it. The crystal dry technology really works. Nevin was our installer and was knowledgeable about removing the wood panel from the old dishwasher and installing on the new one. He was professional, punctual and my kitchen was clean when he left. I have purchase a range and just recently a refrigerator at Martins after customer service issues on a service plan from another appliance place in Lancaster that were horrible. So far Martins has been wonderful. We had a fridge that was starting to worry us and a vacation scheduled. We also have a limited space in our older home where the fridge fits in our kitchen and specific needs for the fridge and salesperson Garret helped us find exactly what we needed quickly. He arranged quick delivery so it was taken care of before we left on our trip. Austin and Ben were amazingly patient and skilled at removing our old fridge and installing the new one in a very tight space. They were polite, professional, personable, and tidy. I have now ordered both a Speed Queen washer (love it) and just yesterday a new dishwasher. I don't live that close to the store so I called and told the salesman what I was looking for in my new dishwasher. He sent me links to view several options and I ordered. Nevin showed up and did a great job installing it. I am sure given the electrical work involved if I had ordered from a big box store the installation would not have gone as smoothly. Our dishwasher needed servicing to address a leak. The technician diagnosed one problem but did not have the parts to make the repair. So, he ordered the part needed, and a 2nd visit was scheduled two weeks later. The technician for the second appointment replaced the part. However, the dishwasher still was not functional because the first technician failed to complete the assessment and missed that other parts required replacement. Again, the parts needed were not in stock, and needed to be ordered. A third appointment another two weeks out is scheduled. It will be more than a month without the use of the appliance, and the parts, labor, and initial technician call are adding up to nearly what we paid for the appliance. We requested a discount or waiver of labor fees for the third call since the first technician failed to assess the issue completely. We were declined. read more

I bought a washer dryer at Martin Appliance and bought pedestals for them, telling the salesman, Eric D., that we wanted to measure our space just to be sure. When we measured, we realized that the pedestals would make our washer dryer too tall so we called Eric to cancel the pedestals. He told us that we'd have to come in to make the change since the price would be different. We went back to the store. Eric told us that he could adjust the charge which would be harder and take longer or we could run a new charge and the old charge would be removed in a couple days. We said that he could run the new charge. A week later, the charge was still on my card so we called Eric and asked him to call us, that the charge was still on our card. Eric didn't respond. Two weeks went by and the charge was still there. We called a couple more times but got no response. We called and spoke with someone else. They said they'd take care of it but didn't. After waiting over a month AND having to pay interest on the charge, I called - furious! Finally, they said that they'd write us a check, but we'd have to wait five more days for them to issue the check and we'd have to come pick it up. At NO point did Eric call us. When we picked up the check, the manager said that he was really sorry. I told him TWICE that I had to pay interest on the charge. He didn't care. Martin Appliance seemed to be trying to steal my money. They didn't care, they didn't want to make it right, and it didn't seem to bother them that they were going to lose a customer. read more

Nice showroom with a good selection of a appliances-more high-end than other stores. Our salesman was knowledgable and helpful. We expected to hear from the company to set up delivery, but did not. My husband called and left a message with our salesman. When he returned his call, I answered the phone. Our salesman was reluctant to talk to me because my husband left the message. With coaxing, he told me when to expect delivery. A week after our appliance arrived, a note addressed only to my husband arrived in the mail, saying thank you for your business. We hope you are enjoying your new cooktop! I, a female, who shopped for, purchased and used the appliance was not mentioned in the note. How can a company who sells appliances which are primarily used by women be so clueless as to how to be respectful of women and not treat them as second class citizens??? read more

Our salesperson told us that he would fill out the form for the $900 rebate that we were supposed to receive for the Bosch appliances that we purchased. We never received the rebate and the salesman did not return my numerous emails and voice mails. We also did not receive the refrigerator that we ordered, the fridge was damaged, and we never received the difference in cost for being given a less expensive refrigerator. Finally, they scratched our kitchen floor when they installed the refrigerator, and did nothing to compensate us. read more

Martin's Appliance was having their 46th Anniversary Celebration during the same week that our old fridge finally gave out beyond repair, so maybe they aren't always this welcoming, but for this review I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. The Brownstown location closes at 3 PM on Saturdays, and the whole family rolled in at after 2 o'clock, but we didn't get short shrift for arriving close to closing time. The salesman Pete acknowledged us as soon as we walked in the door. He asked us what we were looking for and pointed us in the direction of the refrigerators. Pete asked us what we had in mind and took us right to the models we had pulled up on the Martin Appliance website on our phones. There are some impressive looking high-end models on the sales floor, but Pete never tried to upsell us. He checked availability on his tablet, and while there was one at their Ephrata warehouse if we wanted to cash 'n carry, we chose for delivery a week later. Pete let our kids know about the hot dogs, soft drinks, and cookies laid out for the anniversary celebration, it kept them occupied while I settled up the bill. The prices are reasonable and delivery was only 49 bucks. On delivery day the crew texted that our house was 45 minutes away. They were there in 45 minutes and were efficient and courteous. One of them realized the fridge door opened the wrong way and they fixed it to open correctly. They hauled away the old fridge and even leveled the new fridge on the uneven floors of our old farmhouse. With a family to raise my wife and I can only buy new appliances when an old one breaks and can't be fixed, but we had a good experience with Martin's Appliances, so when that happens we'll go there again. read more

I like Martin's appliance. Unfortunately, I bought a fuitsu mini split from them and had them install it. The total cost was over $3,000. After two and a half summers, the unit wasn't cooling as well as it did and by the third summer it was totally dead. The problem was a leak from the core in the unit in the house. It was covered by the manufacturer's warranty. However, the labor cost was not included. The total labor cost was $525. So now I have paid close to $4,000 for this unit. I would advise against buying a fujitsu mini split. In retrospect, I should have installed a thorough the wall air conditioner. read more

Save yourself the pain! After only16 months, our $900. Maytag dryer isn't working properly and they are making excuses that include trying to convince me that my wet clothes aren't really wet and the "sensor" is shuting the dryer down after 3 minutes, to we shouldn't be using dryer sheets! When I became angry at the level of excuses, he told me that I needed to be able to have a professional conversation after he made opinionated, inappropriate comments about how often I wash things. I will continue to spread the word to avoid Martin Appliances! The added Martin's response, below, was posted 2+/- weeks after. If Martin's had put as much effort into customer service as the damage control on this review, it would have been wonderful. I spent less time with Kasper scheduling the repair, having the unit repaired, and received excellent service. I was disappointed with service on a gas grill, but they did better than they had to in order to make things right and I am very impressed.

There service is crappy at best I bought all our appliances from them but every time you need something serviced not only does it go 3 or 4 days till they come out, they don't stock any parts, it goes another 4 days till they get the parts in, meanwhile you are high and dry running to the laundry mat or with no refrigerator read more

Get home from work a little early on a Friday afternoon, yeah! Nope, fridge died during the day. Quick search online, Martin Appliance comes up. First, location: for me, a mile away (so that part of the 5 star review is probably pertinent only to me, but still...). Run down to the store and while I was checking out the floor models, Jonathan came over in less than a minute. Great friendly greeting...told him the situation. Discuss options...he says there's one "out of box" at a discount with delivery (which was important due to a fridge full of food warming up rapidly). Sold. Paid. Second: Delivery with 30 minutes (ok again, maybe the proximity helped but still...). Alec and Glen got the old one out, new one in in less than 10 minutes. Seriously, these 3 guys really came through and helped me out of jam with quick and very professional, friendly service. I appreciated the very helpful attitude- no "well, we can't deliver today" or any other bs. No upsell, just listened, took my problem seriously, offered solutions, and literally delivered.
