Be prepared to spend $300 to get your prom dress altered here...plus they charge a consultation fee to add extra charges.

The quality of the work was to be expected. The person that did the measurements was kind and personable. The time frame to complete the hemming project was okay especially giving it was the end of prom season. The price was much higher than I thought it would be. The web site indicated that formal wear was $75. So I thought that my dress would be about $75. It was $195!!!!!! Now, $45 of that was to bring up the shoulders which I didn't even realize needed to be done. But that means it was $150 to hem my dress that had 2 layers! Note, my dress was "flowy". They don't accept checks just debit/credit cards and cash. What I didn't realize till I got my credit bill, they charged me to use my credit card! That was never explained to me, just charged! It wasn't even listed on my receipt! So, summary, the work is fine, but be prepared to PAY A LOT! I probably wont go back, I'll try to find someone else that charges less. read more

Martha was such a pleasure to work with for repairing and altering my daughters wedding dress. We contacted her in a pinch after a previous seamstress completely hacked her wedding dress. It had jagged cut hem, it was too short, had sections of the dress that was cut off completely, and it didn't fit her. We were beyond words with how Martha handled this. The quality of her work was perfect, her patience with making so many repairs was spot on! My daughter couldn't have been happier with the outcome. I will definitely keep her in mind in the future. If I could give this tailor a negative rating I would. I brought in two items for hemming both of which were ruined. When I asked why one of the items was hemmed in a particular way, the owner was extremely rude and told me to come back after I calmed down. Really disappointing. read more

I had a great experience here! I was a little suspicious at first after reading all of the bad reviews but I decided to give Sew it All a chance and I'm glad I did! Martha was very nice and responsive via email. She was able to get me in right away to alter my wedding gown. She took her time with the initial appointment explaining what she would have to do to the gown to make it fit properly. I think she did an amazing job on my gown and I'm looking forward to wearing it! I would highly recommend Martha. read more

The store is awesome if you're a bride on a budget. you can walk into the store and look at wedding dresses that have been consigned either new or used and try them on at will. No appointment or anything. I found the exact dress I had been looking online at that cost $700 at her shop for 250. On a recommendation (because word of mouth is key) I booked an appointment with Sew It All. The booking of the appointment was easy and no long wait, great. And this is where the greatness ended... Needless to say I paid $140 for the opinions of the seamstress to include she didn't understand "why I would buy a dress 4 sizes too big" and to note that it was "the dress that was 10 sizes too big" ... (weight loss happens- hence the needed alterations!) When I sent an email regarding my displeasure with their work (sewn lines were uneven and puckered), to point out that my dress was still too big and to request a percentage (50%-70% because they had done some work) of the payment refunded for a job not appropriately delivered in which I paid for. The email was returned with a phone call to say they didn't mean to make me feel bad about my weight loss and they would not be giving me any money because I signed for the dress and left the shop. Of course, they said I could certainly come back. The delivered product was not worth the money, nor was it professional quality. The lack of customer service just ties together the 2 star rating. I strongly believe in promoting small businesses and regret that this is the feedback I have. I have 10 days until the expected event and had to hire a second seamstress. read more

I wouldn't trust anyone else!!!! My wedding dress was over $2k and they altered it to fit me perfectly! I am a hair and makeup artist, so I have brides asking where to go, I send them all to Sew it all with no hesitation. A few years back I purchased a dress I was in love with but they only had one left a few sizes too big, they were able to fit it for me better than if I bought my size. Aweful. First they had been calling me and mixing me up my bridesmaids dress up with a prom dress for someone name Danielle. They knew I had to have someone pick up the dress for me and send it out because the wedding is in Illinois where I had to be earlier then they were able to get it done (I dropped the dress off a month ago). I have just received the dress with the pins still in it where they were SUPPOSE to alter it, they didn't do half of the job they were suppose to. They only took in the back but they forgot to do the neck part! Now with less than a week until the wedding I have to rush around and hope to find someone who can fix what they SHOULD HAVE DONE ALREADY. I tried calling to get my money back and of course they don't have a voicemail. Very disappointed go anywhere more organized!!!!!!!!! read more

Awful. I consulted a seamstress at this establishment regarding whether two dresses could be altered to fit. With the dresses on me the seamstress showed me the alterations they would make. On that basis I agreed to have them alter the dresses at significant expense, which I paid for at that time. Unfortunately, when I picked up the dresses the seamstress told be that because of the fabric they couldn't do 2 of the very significant alterations they had showed me they would make and on which basis I had decided to go forward with the alterations. The dresses are basically unwearable. While I have no quarrel with their decision they couldn't make certain alterations, but as I told them it is completely unacceptable for them to have made no attempt to contact me and tell me the alterations they weren't going to make in order for me to decide whether to have them complete the other alterations or not. They made no apology for that and in fact despite my repeating my displeasure about this several times they made absolutely no reply. Luckily I paid for the alterations with a credit card so I will be able to dispute the bill for the amount they charged for the alterations they did make, which are useless to me as the dresses are unwearable. There are much better seamstresses around. Go to them and avoid this place! read more

BEWARE! I live in Minneapolis but work on a project in Concord, NH. When my daughter, who was getting married in Maine, needed to have her wedding dress altered, a co-worker recommended Sew It All. My daughter drove up from Massachusetts and I met her in Concord with the wedding dress. At the initial fitting, I was taken back by how incredibly rude Martha was. When we arrived, on time, we were totally ignored. I should have trusted my gut instincts. Martha charged us 600.00 the day of the initial fitting, and scheduled a final fitting one month later (5 weeks before the wedding.) The day of the final fitting, again, my daughter and I made arrangements to meet in Concord. Again, we arrived and were totally ignored. When finally, Martha decided to help us, she told us our appointment was the following day and that nothing had been done on the dress. Both my daughter and I had the appointment on our calendars on the day we arrived, Martha had the following day scribbled over another date and she had ALL of our contact information wrong. When I asked to see the dress, Martha said no. When I asked if the dress had just been hanging there for a month with nothing done to it, Martha replied, "Pretty Much." When we told Martha we couldn't come back the next day because we both lived out of State, she said come back in three hours. Completely dumfounded, my daughter and I left but neither of us felt good about the situation. After a short talk, we decided to go back and get the dress, and find another professional to make the alterations. My daughter, who was incredibly upset, stayed in the car while I went in to get the dress. When I explained we were uncomfortable with the situation and wanted the dress back, Martha would not give it to me. I repeatedly asked for the dress. Only after I agreed that she could keep the 600.00 did I get the dress back. After we got the dress back, Martha sent harassing text messages to my daughter for days. Luckily we found another alternations professional who completed the minor alterations in one week, and charged us 500.00. When all was said and done, we paid 1,100.00 for minor alterations on a 2,000.00 wedding dress. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT! read more
