Actually never went to the original so this was my first visit. Very clean, neat and almost clinical in appearance. Buffet style was a pleasant surprise. Would love to have tried more of the vegetables but there were no bowls to help contain the liquid, I didn't want my fried chicken to get mushy with the creamed corn. Chicken was good, Salisbury steak was tasty too, potatoes were so so. Desert bar had pretty mediocre banana pudding, possibly pre made. Not a bad place but nothing special. Excellent buffet and service. Great price. Two of us ate for $20 including drink and dessert. Loved the fried chicken, greens, cooked cabbage, corn poppers and especially the apple and peach cobbler. Everything is homemade from scratch. Good southern cornbread muffins. Great southern sweet tea. The ladies were all very nice and welcoming. Martha does a great job. This place is no longer a buffet, I was told that the buffet server was no longer being used however staff would bring additional helpings as requested. I ask for more Turkey and Dressing and was ask to pay more money. My main issue is my first portion was very small for the same money. There is a very easy solution for this. Not what it used to be. You can taste the difference in some of the dishes. It's sad kinda, used to love coming and buying a plate on Thursday for the liver and onions and pile up the rutabagas. They are a good option for catering for a family reunion picnic or large work function. read more

We work in Montgomery near Martha's and go there periodically for lunch. They are usually busting at the seams with a crowd, the food is hot, fresh and abundant in the buffet line.......Do Not go after work....we went yesterday about 6:00 pm and it was awfull. You could tell number one that they were understaffed as we waited at the cashier counter for some one to come and let us pay. Once a lady came, she made an out loud announcement that they had no fish. That should have been our sign, but we paid anyway. Once we went to the line there was barely any food there. Most containers were empty. I scooped up some blackeyed peas a piece of somewhat cold chicken and cornbread and sat down. I kept smelling something like cigarette smoke but knew there was no smoking in the facility. Once I tasted the peas I found they were burned badly. They tasted horrible.....Martha you're missing it in the evening. Next time we'll go to Fried Tomato Buffet. read more

I didn't like this place. The staff is wonderful, but the food was pretty bad. It reminded me of school cafeteria food. The green beans looked to be from a can, same with creamed corn. The sweet potatoes were so pureed, they were like baby food topped with marshmallows. Rice was bland as was the mac and cheese. Fried green tomatoes were also not great. Pulled pork was swimming in liquid and tasteless. The fried chicken was crispy but tasteless too. Nothing seemed to have seasoning. The desserts were goopy-- jello and whipped cream stuff with fruit, some sort of scoopable banana pudding stuff...nothing you'd really recognize as a dessert. On the positive side, it was cheap and a lot of locals seemed to love it. I have had great soul food, but this wasn't it. It was very bland and that's the best I can say about it. read more

The. Best. Food. I wouldn't be one to frequent a buffet, because they're usually difficult to maintain fresh, tasty food. This is different. You never have to worry about it because it never last long enough to cool down. This place (and Martha) are cemented as my all time favorite. Unreal fried chicken. Unreal collards. Side dishes are all great. Go for the food but stay for the family atmosphere. Martha is a wonderful chef and an even more wonderful person. My family drives from Kentucky quite often. read more

Delicious food, four of us went on a Sunday. It was busy, but it was a very short wait. The area around the buffet was very crowded and a little hard to move around in at times. They had sperate areas to sit and where we sat was not to busy to enjoy our food. They were a little slow on refilling the sweet potatoes and fried green tomatoes, but we would just check back till they had it. The staff were all very nice. We will be going back again! read more

After a long day of work, I found myself driving on Atlanta Hwy and my car just seemed to glide into the parking lot at Martha's Place Restaurant! The food reminded me of my Mama's home cooking, delicious and made.with love. The establishment is clean and the ambiance is peaceful. To top off my visit, Martha came to each of the tables to greet her patrons. I felt like I was in the presence of greatness! Martha is a beautiful and inspiring woman of God. If you go to Martha's for the view then no it's not festive, but what it lacks in decor, it make up with the food. The food is great. From the hot bar to the dessert bar. The banana pudding is the best in town. The only thing I don't like is the space in the restaurant because it's confined space around the bar, but it's OK cuz the customers are civilized and kind. There's slot of unity among all race and religion. The fried chicken is great and hot, vegetables are nice and never dry. Broccoli casserole is cooked to profession. We eat there every Sunday after church. Golden Corral has more menu selections but Martha's food taste far better. Plus the service is great, waiters keep glasses full. It's better manageable cuz of the size which makes being small better. It's not expensive at all and the staff are very nice. read more
