This review is long overdue. Martha was gracious enough to take my EXTREMELY last minute request for a cake and cupcakes I needed for my upcoming baby shower back on 11/11 (which is also her birthday) so you can understand my gratitude. I came in on Friday 11/9 and worked with her to create a cake that she felt comfortable doing in such a short time. What we came up was beautiful. She did my colors perfectly, and best of all the cake was DELICIOUS! You might see a lot of beautiful looking fondant cakes around, but often times they don't taste as good as the look, with Martha's cakes, they taste even better than they look, and they all look AMAZING! We got compliments on both the look and the taste at our baby shower. I told my fiancé the cake was so delicious we should order one every month! Lol. I was halfway joking. The kool thing is, fast forward to my bday 3/31, and little did I know my fiancé secretly had a cake made for me! It was delicious and beautiful! Hint, my son graduates next week, we're planning on a family get together next month and I will be ordering from her again! I found my "cake lady" no need to look elsewhere, she gets all this business!

Worst cake baker I experienced for my baby shower cake. She had no knowledge of making sure that double tier cake base needed to be stronger and should hold the weight of top of the cake. I wNever ever Suggest Martha's cake for anyone. Unless you wanna ruin your special day.

I called Aug 9 for a quote for 30 basic cupcakes and a smash cake. I sent a pic, instructions of 15 chocolate and 15 vanilla and Zelled her the deposit. Informed Martha the birthday party started at 11am on 8/19. We set up a pick up time at 9am 8/19. She calls me at 2pm Friday 8/18 to let me know she needs more money because she only quoted me for 18 cupcakes. I was upset because of the time frame, I didn't have other options so I paid more money. My sister goes to pick up the cupcakes up at 9 only to be told she needs to come back in 30 minutes. Not very convenient when your trying to get ready for a party. The cupcakes ended up being SOOO DRY and the frosting was hard as a rock by the end of the party at 1pm. Definitely was disappointed with her service and unfortunately the cupcakes were terrible too. read more

Meant to do a follow up review sooner, but if you read my original post, you'll see I'm a habitual procrastinator... Despite the front of the cake getting a little smudged in transport (my dad was holding the cake box in his lap and bumped it on an abrupt stop...), I would go to Martha again in the future. The cupcakes were a tad dry, but still had a great flavor. The smash cake, that my son didn't smash so I was able to enjoy, was so moist and delicious! Even a couple days after, it was still extremely moist. Thanks, Martha for taking my short time order and for surprising me by decorating the cupcakes with chocolate Nemos :) read more

Martha is awesome. Martha made my parents 50th Anniversary tier cake and it was beautiful. We changed the designs many times and she was fine with it and always had a smile on her face. I found Martha on yelp. She exceeded my expectations with this cake! Not only was it beautifully designed but super moist delicious Red velvet cake w/cream cheese filling that wasn't overpowering. I've ordered ALOT of cakes from her in the past. I ordered my birthday cake a month in advanced and she never did follow up. Well, life happens and not once did she do follow up in regards to cake time pick up or flavor and decor. I checked her this morning and asked what time can I pick up my birthday cake and she called and said she did not make it. If you have a so called business making cake and can't do simple follow up for YOUR business then this business isn't worthy of my time and money. Make sure you communicate because she won't do it for you!! NIGHTMARE, now I have to find a last minute cake for my dinner tonight. read more

Martha is such a super sweet woman. I came to her for my wedding cake and she completely understood the direction I was going and also gave me some great ideas as well. The cake itself was perfect and also in my opinion very affordable. We did a 3 tier cake which one layer was pineapple (which she made the pineapple filling fresh not canned), strawberry marble and carrot cake. I know super random but that's what we wanted. We met with her in her home and she was so inviting and we were able to try the cake before we decided. My wedding was back in 2017 and I barely posted now but everyone should definitely reach out to her for all their cake needs. She has a book full of pictures of all the work she has done as well. I ordered a cake for my sisters bday June 7. She did a great job with the decorations and last minute order. The only issue I had was the cake was dry. Martha was nice and very welcoming. I decided to give her another try and order my bday cake for sept 1. I told her I need a small cake for 4 people. She told me to go get cupcakes at the store because this is not a bakery. I want asking for cupcakes. Huh????? I'm sorry what happened to the nice cake lady??? I'm pretty sure your previous work includes cupcakes. One things for sure I will surely go to a true cake shop to get my cakes. Professionalism is not what this lady has. read more

Luckily, I heard back from them via email and the cake arrived. The cake was brought to us on a cardboard platter, no box. It looked melted like it was sitting out for some time. The fondant design was done sloppy and falling off, and a chunk of the cake was falling off on the side - very poor presentation. We were also very disappointed with the taste. As an event planner, I'm always looking for new bakeries/caterers for events... will not order from this place again.

The lady behind the counter let us taste the creams before we made our final decisions. Excellent customer service, fresh food, lots of options and a clean dining room. The cream in both puffs with excellent, light sweetness not too heavy and made for a fun treat. It is downtown Tracy so parking maybe a hassle, but it's worth stopping by. Definitely will be coming back when I head into town next time.

I found Martha's Cakes on Yelp about 2 years ago when I moved to the area and was on a quest to find a bakery. Martha has become my favorite go-to baker for every event ranging from birthdays, baby showers to family gatherings. For 2 years I've ordering at least 5 cakes from Martha, testing her skills with my many online design finds. Martha has delivered on every of one them. Martha is very soft spoken and kind spirited.She's not rushed in gathering design requirements or suggesting the little extras that could add to the flare. The love for her craft transcends to her product via its looks and taste - great portion sizes, vibrant colors and extremely moist cakes.My conversations with her have led me to believe in her great experience and eye for design/elegance. My guests have been mesmerized at her work and even called ahead of time to check if i was getting another of Martha's cakes - not kidding!.I've had to transport cakes from Tracy to San Jose & beyond -some in cream not fondant, and they've all stood the test of time & transportation. I have no reservations in recommending Martha's cakes. Martha is highly professional in her dealings,gathers your requirements, puts down a design for your review, presents suggestions and pictures, gives you an estimate on cost & finish time with a follow call once the cakes is finished. I needed a last minute cake for my graduation party, thanks to a forgetful uncle. When I say last minute, I mean the NEXT DAY. I called around and no one could make me a cake in such a short span of time, & I was getting quite frustrated because we all know store bought cakes don't even compare to homemade & I really didn't want to settle. I mean you can only graduate so many times in life. Anyways, a friend recommended Martha's Cakes because she had a cake made by her for her wedding. Their customer service is excellent and not only could Martha make me a cake by the next morning, but she had a lot of different exotic flavors to choose from, along with the traditional ones also. I chose a strawberry cake. It was so fresh and light with amazing flavor, and fresh strawberries on top. It was a hit! Everyone loved it, & it was completely eaten only a half hour after I brought it out for the guests. The only thing I regret is not ordering 2 cakes because it was eaten so fast! Martha was an absolute delight to work with! She baked our wedding cake, and it was everything we dreamed of. She makes her own fondant and it is the best ever! Same goes for her whipped topping for the frosting on her cakes! And my goodness, we had the top tier chocolate cake with mocha mousse filling...... TO DIE FOR! The coffee flavor wasn't overpowering, it was a very light a moist cake, just perfect. Her vanilla cake with lemon filling, I could have had an entire one to myself! She followed the design we asked for to a T and it was absolute perfection. She delivered the cake in great condition! I mean, really, she went above and beyond! She used our cake topper and truly just made our wedding cake the perfect addition to our wedding day. She does all kinds of desserts as well! After seeing pictures of cakes online, made by Martha, I knew that she could make the cake we wanted. I sent a picture of the cake to her and she responded that it would not be a problem. We talked briefly on the phone regarding flavors, fillings and price. When I stopped by her house the next day to pay a deposit, she had already made some of the detail pieces to put on the cake. She is such a sweet lady, who obviously loves making beautiful, great-tasting cakes! The saying "you get what you pay for" is true here. The cake was expensive, BUT, if you are looking for a cake that appears to have come from "Cake Boss" or "Ace of Cakes", and you want flavors that are out of this world- then order from Martha. One layer of our cake was vanilla with a pina colada filling and it was out of this world! Thank You Martha!! read more

Horrible customer service. Was an existing customer and had been happy with Martha's Cakes. I emailed her twice to ask if she could make a cake for a 1 year old baby girl birthday, she never responded to any of the emails. When I called her, she had read my emails but disregarded them and just flat out didn't respond. She then just said she was "busy." No other reason given for not being able to make the cakes but that she was "busy." I was an existing customer, had ordered 4 large cakes from her in the past, and for her to treat someone who had given her great business is just poor taste. There are plenty other places to go for your cakes. Don't waste your time or money!!! read more

I recently ordered a Birthday cake for my daughter's 8th birthday party. It was not only delicious but very very Beautiful!!! I had approximately 60 guests and recieved compliments from everyone. I am very happy I found Martha here in Tracy. Not only was everyone pleased with the cake but she also added another very special touch to the party with her delicious cake pops and beautifully decorated cookies that matched the cake perfectly. Martha was asked to make some cakes to represent Duff a TV personality from the Food Network. He is launching his cake mix products in Savemart and for his grand opening he had Martha make some cakes for him. I attached a picture to the gallery so you can see her cakes at his event. He was so happy with her professionalism and work that he has asked her to make additional cakes to represent him at other product launches. Review for Martha's Bowling Alley Cake Martha's bowling alley cake was a masterpiece! Not only was it visually stunning, but it was also incredibly delicious. The cake itself was moist and flavorful, and the frosting was creamy and perfectly sweet. The attention to detail was impeccable, with tiny bowling pins, balls, and even a mini bowling alley lane. I needed a cake to feed about 30 for my mom's surprise 70th birthday party and came to Yelp for some guidance. I saw Martha and her wonderful reviews and pictures and decided to take a leap of faith. Only 2 weeks before the party I contacted her with some inspiration photos and she happily stated that it would be no problem. She made an absolutely BEAUTIFUL floral cake. I ordered a cake for my sisters twenty first from Martha and not only did it look amazing but it tasted PERFECT!! It was a "Tiffany's and co themed but the color i requested was purple. I was so amazed at how rich the taste of the red velvet was and was not bitter at all. I would definitely recommend her to anyone!
