Im horrified, still shaking. I've been going there close to 15 years. Started many years ago with me bringing a friend who had MS, I then started going there as well over the years To get some adjustments with our insurance coverages and after what took place today I am absolutely terrified and confused... I arrived early for my 6pm appointment with Dr Ball, I saw a new person at the desk, she was polite at first, i offered to give her my new debit card to keep on file.So I could pay my forty dollar coPay on monday or wednesday?Which is my payday as we live paycheck to paycheck right now with the high cost of living in washington state, usually the people at the desk are lenient about it.And it's not a problem, and we don't carry a balance... She was very argumentative, picked up the phone and started reporting it to a manager as if ive done something wrong . I was confused about her attitude, and I let her know that it's usually not a problem If i've ever asked and it's only a couple of days, we have very expensive insurance That covers everything.And she kept arguing... being disrespectful, I asked her to stop with her causing me stress as I was there for a painful issue, she kept lecturing, gas liteing, baiting me, I finally said please stop!! I went to room 4 , the door was open at that point, and I could hear her talking really loud in the front office about me.Saying untrue statements to someone on the phone... She saw me in hallway , I asked her to stop talking about me like that, inappropriate..she tried to force me to take her phone , i said not appropriate, and I went inside the room closed the door waiting for the dr ball to come in for my appointment. Suddenly the door burst open, Dr Ball had a look of anger on his face that I've never seen before he came rushing towards me, yelling , what did you do to her!! GET OUT !! I was shaking, I was not all the way dressed, n afraid of dr ball at that point, I entered the hallway rushing toward the door confused, Two more people started yelling at me.Get out.Get out, never come back here, get out.Get out. I was shaking , in shock, The front desk person, had some type of a break down, acting as though she was attacked, when I was in another room, not near her at all. Last year Jennifer refused my cash coPay at one of my appointments, she then labeled me as not paying coPays, she said it in front of others at front lobby, I had a zero balance at that point.But she still refused my cash payment for the co.Pay that day. Later that day, I decided To call her.I asked her to please not treat me that way.And she did apologize,. Todays horrifying events , so wrong on so many levels. Writing an update as the first one I did was 5 years ago. I'm still a patient of Dr. Barrett's. Dr. Barrett is the same person - an exceptional chiropractor with compassion. I've been his patient for 10 years now. I live a couple hours away, but I still go out here to see him because no one else compares. He is worth the time and money. He never rushes me and takes time to make sure that I am taken care of for every appointment. Some changes that have occurred are the fact that he's renovated his office space. It's been completely remodeled. Checking in is done on either a tablet or a touchscreen monitor. He's also updated his website to bring it up to date. There is another chiropractor here that does low force instrument adjusting chiropractic like Dr. Barrett, and he is Dr. Ball. I haven't seen Dr. Ball. Dr. Park has joined the team and does acupuncture. I've yet to try this out; maybe one day I'll get over my fear of trying. Massage therapy is still available here, but Sue's retired. I received massages from Lisa a few years ago, and she's great. Dr. Barrett's staff is also good at their jobs and go the extra mile. On a recent visit here, I was really struggling with pain and could not think clearly due to a new medication prescribed to me by another doctor. I asked Lisa, the office manager, for assistance. When my appointment was over, she not only found the info I had been trying to find, she printed it out for me in various locations, close to their office as well as close to my home. I was crying, I was so grateful. They are open till 7 pm M-F, and Dr. Barrett is in the office every other Saturday. You will be charged $50 if you don't give 24 hours notice for cancelling. This is the only thing I hate, especially when I live and work 2 hours away. I was charged this once when someone parked an inch away from my car and called them 3 hours ahead of time because I couldn't drive there. read more

I saw Dr. Park for acupuncture and he was amazing! His treatment helped balance my body and helped with stress management. My time with him ways always relaxing and I always left feeling like a million bucks. Dr. Park is thoughtful and truly listens to your concerns. He also was able to pinpoint problem areas that I didn't even think were issues (and they were). Definitely recommend Dr. Park! I can also speak to the front office/receptionist. There are a lot of negative reviews on here regarding the front office. Every check in I was not only greeted, but with a smile and a genuine "how are you doing". Scheduling appointments was super easy as well. I had zero issues and find it a bit baffling that others did. Overall, I highly recommend this location and especially Dr. Park! read more

When I called back three days later and found out that all my appointments for then next two weeks where canceled as well. What kind of busyness does this. My very honest candid review. I've had issues with my lower back and was hoping for an adjustment. I prefer manual adjustments to trigger point guns . I just think they are more effective. The entire appointment was 1 hour long with trigger point adjustments. This is a tool the doctor uses to click your joints and stuff. Dr ball whom I saw was pretty friendly and personable. But he recommended the 2-3 visits a week for like 5 weeks. This is not insurance friendly nor is it do able in today's busy world. There was another patient hanging around touching a lot of stuff and only wearing a mesh mask which is basically pointless it's like a mosquito net. Pro- rooms sanitized between clients . Con- horrible vibe there. Almost elitist. I almost felt out of place even with a 20,000$ car. It's just something about the clientele there and the attitudes of very entitled overgrown children. I called afterwards and asked if there were any manual adjustments here. She said no. They were shocked when I told them I would have to go elsewhere . I got a cold Response after that. Been a patient here since 2015 or so. Quality of care has plummeted. Today just paid cash for my visit with a list of areas to treat. Went into the room at 9:30, got to my car at 9:35. Dr. Ball used his impulse gun on one side near my sacrum despite bilateral pain and then used it briefly on my R shoulder (upper scapula). He brought the table up and said put some ice on it and I asked if he was going to adjust me. He claimed he could do better with the impulse thing. I received no relief from my 'treatment' today. I have no health ins so pay cash and can only come in when I can afford it. He said I just need to come more often. Don't waste your time here. There are better, more effective practitioners out there. read more

Chiropractors here are wonderful. Their treatment system means multiple visits are necessary, much more than any other chiropractor I have ever used. My biggest issue is one of their employees, Lisa, is absolutely rude and condescending. I was informed in November that I was using my last insurance covered appointment on that visit. I then received a bill in the mail for the previous months visits. Upon discussing this I was told very hastily that it's my responsibility to know my benefits and I only had ten visits. I replied that I had 24 and Lisa then insisted that I only have ten and how do I not know it's changed or not know what benefits I have. She insisted that's what was on her screen and I could contest with insurance but that it's NOT her responsibility to do do. I do not have time to contest this and my toddlers needed attention in the background. I asked if she would take my cc info and that I'd follow up with a review. I wanted to get off the phone and not deal with following up with this horrendous interaction. She then called me back to inform me that I did indeed have 24 but excused herself by saying she had been counting my appointments while we were talking and how can she do both? I said I'd have been happy to wait on hold while she counted. Oh and now I'm going to post a review she asked? She was busy counting!! Oh and btw I had 27 visits, so three weren't covered. Great, you have my cc. This could have been a very civil interaction and I was indeed over by three visits but goodness gracious that phone call was very unprofessional. read more

Lawrence Ball and his "impulse gun" put me in more pain than I came with and it got worse in the days after because he'd misdiagnosed me and just beat me with that little hammer of his, caused me pain, and billed me for it. On top of it, I'm trying to pay the bill for this abuse and they have no online payment form and no way to even enter a credit card on the bill and send it back via snail mail. We live in the 21st century. Mailing checks? I have to find my checkbook, a stamp, and an envelope on which I'll have to hand-write their address (they don't provide one) to save them 71 cents in credit card fees. Bad doctor and the archaic billing shows a huge lack of customer service/focus. 1 star. read more

Dr. Lawrence Ball is a fantastic chiropractor and the epitome of what doctors should be! My husband was in excruciating pain as his neck was out of alignment and his left shoulder was visibly hunched over like the Hunchback of Notre Dame. He struggled to walk and he hobbled into Martha Lake Chiropractic hoping for a miraculous recovery. Dr. Ball assessed his situation and decided to work on his cervical spine using his impulse adjusting tool to mechanically realign his spine. At first this tool looked like a gimmick and we were slightly disappointed that he was relying on a machine rather than manual hand adjustments. But Dr. Ball recommended that my husband return later that day for another treatment, no extra charge. This method continued for three consecutive days where my husband saw Dr. Ball in the morning and return again later in the afternoon. On the third day of consistent treatment my husband proclaimed that he was feeling much better and demonstrated improved range of motion, something that he was completely incapable of doing just three days prior. Thanks to Dr. Ball for his aggressive follow through and timely action in aiding my husband back to mobility. Only a doctor who truly cares about his patients would take the time to see someone more than once during a day. And Dr. Ball was very accommodating with his schedule. To anyone who is in pain and looking for relief, I would say to trust the process no matter how much skepticism you may have at first. Dr. Ball comes highly recommended! read more

Finding Dr. Ball was nothing short of Divine intervention. I'm so thankful literally every single day that I've found him because my life is completely transformed because of him. Before hobbling into his office after being referred by 3 of my friends (yes, you read that right, 3 different friends are also fans of his work), I reached a point where I'd forgotten what it's like to live without constant pain on a daily basis. Years ago, I suffered from a chronic, longterm illness that left me bedridden and wheelchair bound. You can imagine the journey it has been to regain health and physical balance in the years since. Despite years of various, extensive and expensive efforts with other chiropractors and bodyworkers, my skeletal structure still carried a twisted and painful posture. It was debilitating. Earlier this afternoon, I walked out of Martha Lake Chiropractic Center with a smile on my face, feeling better than I had in nearly two weeks. That's practically a miracle, considering my behavior prior to receiving my Chiropractic adjustment from Dr. Barrett. This is my story (review), so I'm going to milk it. I like to think that I'm generally a nice guy. I try to treat people the way I would want them to treat me - but, there are days and times where I fail at this miserably, and yesterday was just one of those days. You see, I missed my appointment due to jammed up traffic caused by roadwork. I tweaked my neck doing deadlifts nearly two weeks ago, and I had made the appointment on Monday, 4-30-18. I was "really" looking forward to the appointment on Friday. Friday rolls around, and by a bad judgment call, I decided to drive to the bank after work, completely oblivious to the obnoxious traffic jam heading in the direction I was leaving. By the time I left the bank, and began to head down 164th, and saw that for half a mile the traffic was practically stalled - I knew I had made a big mistake, and probably wasn't going to make it on-time to the appointment. Well, I tried going down 196th, but that wasn't much better, and ten minutes prior to my appointment I knew I'd be lucky to get there 30 minutes late. So I called the Chiropractic center, and proceeded to conduct myself in a manner that I can roughly sum up in two words - "total jerk;" certainly not blameless. I knew that it was my own fault for missing the appointment, but I still saw fit to be completely rude to the poor assistant on the phone, who, having only been on the job for a few weeks, had to deal with what I would call - a major problem. She handled it very well, and conducted herself professionally in the face of seriously acidic tone and behavior. Serpent's venom anyone? The appointment shot, several top-of-the-lung yells in my car later (windows rolled up of course), I proceeded to head over to the Sno-Isle Co-op in Everett for some good, old fashioned, muscle building, raw milk. I'm driving up I-5, and I get a call. It's Martha Lake Chiropractic. It just so happens to be the good doctor's wife on the phone, being very professional I might add, as I proceeded to make a complete ass out of myself a second time by being rude to her as well. One time that day clearly wasn't enough - more volume is always good right? She tried to work with me, despite the fact that I was being passive aggressive, and not directly stating that I would like to be re-scheduled to Saturday if possible, which I had already figured would be booked. Well, a minute or so later she calmly puts me on the phone with Dr. Barrett. Like a true pro, he handles the temper tantrum in stride, and schedules me in as the last appointment - on a Saturday. As I exit my car, stage left, to walk to the Co-op and pick up my protein supplement, with the light of the sun shining down on me, and the water to my right, I can't help but realize how big a jerk I was. Oh, 15 minutes extra isn't a big deal right? On a Saturday - pfft, like they have anything planned. Whoever complains the loudest, right? Except my conscience had a nice little chat with me about my "attitude." Time to suck up the pride, cuz some explaining and apologizing is coming. I come in Saturday, about 20 minutes early, and the first person I meet is Dr. Barrett's wife. Now, I hadn't been in for two years - and seven days, to the day, and had never met her before, so I did not know who I was speaking to - only that I had spoken rudely to her the previous day. As soon as I knew how rude I had been to not only another person on the phone, but the actual wife of my Chiropractor - well, let's just say I felt like a literal ass. The good Book has a great chapter with a talking ass in it. Fortunately, Dr. Barrett and his wife accepted my apologies, fixed my neck up, and were professional, friendly, and even talkative, despite my prior behavior, and the fact that they had already been over-booked - on a Saturday, with a Mariners game to go to, no less . . . What can I say? These are great people, and Dr. Barrett is a great Chiropractor. I wish them the best in health and success, and would heartily recommend anyone reading this long-winded, gushing review, to give them a call the next time you hear or feel - a snap, crackle, or pop. I really enjoyed my first experience at the Martha Lake Chiropractic Center. First off I somehow acquired a pain in my neck, checked yelp for nearby chiropractic centers for guidance. I called 15 mins before they closed on a Wednesday night, pleasantly surprised I received a prompt answer... They got me in the next day ! In the morning ! Arriving I was greatly by a nice lady, she gave me some papers to fill out then I went to the computer to "sign in" filling out a couple more electronic pages since this was my first visit. $120 for the first visit was more than reasonable & only $45 for next visits! Great experience The Dr. was friendly & did a thorough exam. I feel more centered, will Be returning. read more

I have seen tons of different Chiropractors in my life, Dr. Barrett has been the best. His treatment is so detailed to your concern. The instrument that he uses and the time he spends with you really shows how custom each adjustments are. Instead of multiply trips in a week, like other chiropractors, he gets right to the point and resolves my issues in one visit. I usually only need to return about every 6 weeks, more or less for a tune up, if I am having trouble sleeping, or I tweaked myself work related (mostly due to incorrect posture) The very first visit that I had with Dr Barrett, I was going through depression to the point where my whole body ache and I couldn't sleep at night. On top of that I was experiencing major migraines. One visit and I was 80% better which gave me enough energy to work on the rest of the 20% on my own. When I got off the table that first time, I literally felt a tingling sensation from my neck going down my spine, feeling like all the tension was being released. Angels sang. I just recently found this place. It's amazing. Yes!! It was the signs on the road that got me to call them... Someone has a bright and funny mind!! Plus their reviews on here are really good. I see Dr. Ball. But I hear Dr. Barrett is also amazing. I see Dr. Ball because he manually adjust you. My body doesn't react very well to the clicky thing. Or, I haven't in the past. The front desk lady: and I'm sorry I haven't remembered her name, but she remembers mine. Even the second time I came in, I was said hi to by name. Awesome customer service is really important! My lower back has 3 disc that's made moving almost impossible. I've been told those disc won't move or adjust. But..... Dr. Ball is getting my lower back to actually move. The table that he uses is amazing! Then he follows that with an adjustment. He typically can get a pretty good adjustment. If you have a lower back disk issue: go see him!!! This place gave me my life back. I have suffered from sciatica and lower back pain for over 10 years. I was in a horrible car wreck and I was told I would need surgery to fix the herniated disc in my back. Like most guys I wasn't very amenable to surgery or going to the doctors office. I had a very active lifestyle and went to the gym at least 3 times per week before the accident. The pain would keep me from standing longer that a few minutes and walking was just about completely unbearable. I learned to live with the pain and stopped going to the gym. It affected my work life and my social life. I had just turned 50 at the time and my whole life changed just that fast. Over time I learned to manage the pain, sometimes taking medication to help cope with it all. I am now just ready to turn 60 and the pain started really coming on strong again because I have refused to just take it easy. The pain was once again unbearable. I knew I needed to do something and it was long past time to take some sort of action. I noticed the sign driving past Martha Lake Chiropractic as I was in pain and decided to look them up when I got home. I saw them on Yelp and noticed that they had all 5 star reviews so I set up an appointment with Dr. Ball. The first time I went in, (approx. 3 weeks ago now) and met with Dr. Ball they used a small device on my back which I could only describe as a small electric hammering device which is not what I expected having gone to other chiropractors in my life. As a matter of fact when I went to other chiropractors the first thing they would always do is take x-rays and then have me come back another day for treatment, but always doing what seemed to be the same maneuvers. Not Dr. Ball. He used that device on my back and legs and there was no pain or discomfort at all. I was thinking at first that this wasn't going to fix the problem. The next day the pain had diminished substantially and I noticed that I could do more activities before the pain would return. I continued to go every other day or so for the next 3 weeks and as of last Friday, January 26, 2018 I decided to give it a couple of weeks before my next visit because the pain is completely gone. I haven't felt this great in 10 years! I couldn't be more thankful to all the folks at Martha Lake Chiropractic, especially Dr. Ball. They gave me my life back and I wish I would have found out about them 10 years ago. If you have back pain don't be stubborn like I was. Go see them and let them fix you up NOW. Im only giving this place two stars because of the decently friendly staff, but I am completely dissatisfied with the chiropractic care I received. I started seeing Dr. Ball after one month of crippling back pain. Upon my first appointment the doctor asked me some questions, did some stretches, and after a short 20 mins of this he thought he knew enough to began my first adjustment. No x-rays, no feeling my spine, no nothing (and this cost $120 mind you). Before the adjustment he tried to sell me on the fact that he primarily uses an impulse gun to adjust and not traditional "old school" manual adjustments. He was almost like a car salesman about it. I went to this chiropractor for over a month and each appointment he would lie me flat on my stomach and solely use the impulse gun to adjust me. He did not stretch me, he barely asked me questions, and hardly touched my body. I did not get better. Fast forward 5 weeks later. I went to a new chiropractor. After extensive x-rays, stretches, palpations, manual adjustments, and a mini massage to relieve spasms (all of this costing the same amount of money as this establishment of $120) I found out I have severe sciatica, a pinched nerve in my lumbar, and I could have needed surgery in 4 -ish weeks without proper treatment. I understand that impulse adjustments may work for some people but the fact of the matter is that this chiropractors' hands off techniques would have lead me to surgery and he would have been non the wiser. After one appointment with my new chiropractor (doing manual adjustment) I am already feeling better. Dr. Ball is nice but that's about it. Where do I begin? Dr. Barret is the most amazing doctor and human being I have encountered in a long time. He makes a connection with his patients, and that. is. invaluable. Too often doctors become money-collecting machines who couldn't care less for the humans in front of them, and it's a breath of fresh air to meet someone that gives you a place as a human first and as a paying customer second. Do you want to heal or get body slammed? I tired of chiropractors whose only techniques consisted of body slamming and hard adjustments to get me in alignment. Dr. Barrett only uses an activator for his adjustments. He is meticulous about measuring what's in and out of alignment and very patient with the process. He's open to my feedback. If I tell him that my lower back doesn't feel right after he's adjusted me, he'll re-check. No big ego here-just a kind and caring health practitioner. read more

Dr. Barrett and Lisa are primarily the people that I see here at Martha Lake. They are so professional and an absolute delight to talk to. They know exactly what they're doing and they're always so kind and polite when I see them. The only reason this place didn't get a 5/5 for me is because the first time I came the receptionist was rude and no help at all. I was told to come at a certain time and when I showed up she gave me lots of attitude blaming me for being "late" since they have you do a questionnaire every visit. I wasn't able to see the doctor because I was considered late. Mind you, the doctor is her husband. Anyway, I try to avoid her as much as possible. Other than that, this place is a gem! read more

I never write reviews, but I feel SO grateful for Dr. Barrett that I feel compelled to write a review in the hopes that he may also help you. I've know Dr. Barrett for almost 20 years ( he was my parents' chiropractor in eastern WA), and since that time, he has helped me with SO many conditions. As a young woman, I limped around with a sore hip and was limited in walking or doing physical activities for years. Doctors, PTs and others could not help. I saw Dr. Barrett and within a month I was a new woman. Again, a few years ago, I had a HORRIBLE neck/ headache that Doctors could not help ( even emergency room Doctors that gave me a CT scan!) once again I saw Dr. Barrett and within a brief time my pain was gone. But the latest and greatest of all his feats has been helping my daughter. She was urinating every 10-15 minutes and had been dealing with constipation issues for years. We've been to every Doctor we could think of, she was in PT for a year, and we felt like we were out of options. They only idea other Doctors had was more medicine. Finally, we decided to try Dr. Barrett ( why we didn't think of this sooner... I don't know). Within two weeks, my daughters conditions have improved over 50%. Maybe even 75% It is shocking! Dr. Barrett can fix more than just headaches and backaches, he can fix your malfunctioning body. Dr. Ball is excellent and I highly recommend him. He's relieved my back and shoulder pain exacerbated from lots of driving and being in my car an extraordinary amount through treatments, as well as educating me on stretching and exercise. I just recently started going to Martha Lake Chiropractic and seeing Dr. Ball. To be honest, I was not referred by anyone but I've been (along with many others I'm sure) so intrigued and hysterically impressed by their witty sign out front. They've been my comic relief driving on 164th for the past 5 years. LOVE the sign!! Well, I finally booked an appointment and have been impressed with them every step of the way! The electronic sign in computer was easy and efficient. The staff are extremely friendly. Dr. Ball is simply- just awesome! Martha Lake Chiropractic is fantastic! Dr. Ball is absolutely amazing and extremely encouraging. He has resolved so many of my issues (which, believe me there have been many!). The staff is great and very courteous. They are flexible with their payments and they also take care credit which is helpful for those whose insurance doesn't cover the adjustments. read more

I love this place, My acupuncturist is here and all the staff are so friendly and informative. there is a little spot for kids, water, and plenty of parking, the waiting area is surrounded by windows so there is a lot of awesome natural light to wait in, very relaxing and warm/welcoming environment with good doctors! read more

It has been a while since I have been to Martha Lake Chiropractic Center. But I do agree with some of the comments I have read. Dr. Barrett is very careful, listens very well, and very flexible with time. I do see value in his style for some people as it does not involve bone cracking and applying pressure to areas for alignment. I was impressed how he can figure out which section in the neck and back is out of alignment by his technique. He explains things very well and I was happy to have gone there. read more

I was a patient for two years. The front office was repeatedly unkind and disrespectful in communicating and working with me regarding insurance and a claim for a car accident. I continued to see Dr Barrett for adjustments because he is a kind and skilled healthcare provider. After two years as a patient, a final unpleasant interaction with the front office about insurance got me to move my care to a different chiropractor. I would like to express my gratitude to Dr. Barrett for my remarkable recovery. I am a 50+ woman who had a severe lower back pain. I had a chiropractor at a different office, and he couldn't help me. Traditional medical care with physical therapists - two - in different places didn't work too. I became a patient at a Spine Clinic, and had steroid epidural injections. I could barely walk at that time. When I started chiropractic care with Dr. Barrett, I felt feeling better after fist time already. Real healing took some time, and now I HAVE LESS PAIN THAN BEFORE my big trouble with my lower back. I had chiropractic care before with a few doctors, but it seems like Dr. Barrett, employing an activator method, can address my problems much more successfully. My family sees Dr Ball and we couldn't be more pleased. He is fast, friendly, and efficient. He lets you know what he is doing while he is doing it, explains conditions and procedures, and if you are more reluctant to have the traditional adjustment (my son), he finds alternatives.
