Shrimp and Grits
David E.

I've been coming for about a year now. Very unique restaurant Building it out of an old gas station. It works! The food here is as unique as the design of the restaurant. Although, some dishes like the shrimp and grits are hit-or-miss. The Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich is off-the-hook! Bold with just the right amount of spice and full of flavors. A must try. I also recommend the barbecue ribs as well as their fried chicken in waffles. The service is great with everyone make a new feel welcome. So if you're in the area I recommend that you stop in and try one of my highlighted dishes, or something that possibly catches your eye off the menu. Enjoy your eats! Five stars for customer service.

Burnt ends and BBQ sauce

Marsouls gets high marks from me for the high quality and flavor for the price, especially for the appetizers and entrees. The highlights for me were shrimp and grits, which had a slightly sweet and creamy sauce to it, rather than a more common pepper gravy. The shrimp were butterflied and deliciously spiced and seasoned. Overall, the dish was one of the best shrimp and grits that I have had. My party also tried the chicken lollipops, kind of a fried chicken wing with a delicious crispy crust and a choice of house sauces, like caribbean jerk, BBQ and three others. their burnt ends appetizer was a delicious pile of pork chunks smothered in a tangy sweet BBQ sauce, with an accessible texture rather than the more crusty KC burnt ends. The dessert of banana pudding was OK, but with a huge portion. The pudding lacked depth, and was very vanilla but with yummy fresh bananas and vanilla cookies. Overall, I'll definitely be back to try more dishes. The vibe is pretty casual with a large connected seating area, but several tables at an outdoor patio that I'll try next time. The service was very attentive, friendly, and accommodating.

Banana Pudding

Well Marsouls has been open almost a year and we came here for dinner for the first time. The menu is the same as lunch, but on this trip we did try out their cocktails. The good is consistently good, i had the waffles and fried chicken and once again it was very good. I also splurged for the banana pudding and was a little let down by this. It was very little flavor, almost tasted like it came from a box, but i did eat it all. The cocktails were very good and service was excellent. They continue to deliver almost a year later.

I thought we'd sneak in on opening week before other people found this place, so I was shocked when we pulled up and it was already packed. I haven't been to a new restaurant that has gotten everything right on opening week and this place definitely delivered. We couldn't pick just one delicious sounding menu item, so we didn't. We got chicken lollipops with Jamaican jerk sauce, Nashville hot chicken sliders, deviled eggs, Mac and cheese, and cornbread. The food was amazing, came out quick, and finger licking good (literally). The Jamaican jerk sauce had some much depth of flavor... sweet, spice, tangy. The chicken was tender and juicy. The Nashville hot chicken sliders had the right amount of slaw, sauce, and crunch. Chicken was juicy. The deviled eggs had the most delicious bacon jam. Service was on point. I love that they converted the space from an old gas station, but gave it a completely different vibe.

Chicken and waffles

Decided to try this after a movie. It is in an old converted gas station and looks great. We walked in and were greeted and seated quickly. The menu is soul food inspired and limited. We had chicken and waffles, chicken wings and catfish. Everything was cooked well and had good flavor except the wings. I ordered a lemon pepper dry rub and you could not taste anything but the wing. Sides of Mac and cheese, fries, yams and coleslaw (really good slaw) weee all very good. Our server was great and offed suggestions since we were new. Very cool downtown eating.

Really enjoyed their brunch! While visiting Arkansas, we met up with some friends here and had a great time. I thought their grits were quite unique with good flavor. The chicken biscuit sliders were good. I loved the touch of honey and what it added but as far as the jalapeño, I didn't really taste any spiciness. But hey I can see this as a good thing for those with a low spice tolerance. Still enjoyed it! Chicken cooked very well. The atmosphere is nice and laid back and the staff is very friendly.

This is the hamburger the macaroni and cheese and a collard greens it's also delicious come eat here they have drinks it's pretty good.

The collard greens and macaroni are cut two perfection that made my hamburger medium rare. Devin's catfish was so good and light and fluffy and crunchy the okra's perfect. It's a good place to eat and just enjoy the vibe

Jerk Wings

The food was great! Good home cookin' soul food. The service was good as well. The place is much bigger than you would think and the patio adds a nice touch as well.

Food is excellent! Felt like our server was new and was unfamiliar with cocktail orders. Ambiance was utilitarian. Patio looks great!

4/22/26 This family…read moreowned business was highly recommended by a local friend and I had promised to check this place out the next time I was in town. Well Yelpers, I've found my new fave Northwest Arkansas restaurant! TBH, I wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived. It looked like a modernized restaurant with an open kitchen. I opened the door to the restaurant and waited to check in and a handsome young boy asked if I had reservations and I advised I didn't and he asked if I wanted to sit indoor or outdoor. He grabbed a menu and helped me to my table. I was quickly greeted by a staff member and given a glass of water and was told that there isn't an assigned server but that multiple staff members will work together to attend my table. After eating American and Italian food all week on my business travels, I was craving some authentic simple home cooked food and this location brought me virtually home for dinner. For those of you that know me or have been following my review journey, have gotten to know my household ethnicities. When I saw the House 1830 Menu, it was a delightful mix of Vietnamese and Laotian food! The color purple was present from accent walls by the kitchen to my cloth napkin on the plate sets, to the "seasonal" menu font color all tie together with staff uniforms including the outdoor purple umbrella above the outdoor seating space. They even have custom pillows on the bench seating with the House 1830 logos. Susana, one of the owners came to greet me and asked if I've been here before or if it's my first time. She shared that her husband Binh was the head chef today and many patrons typically think it's a fusion restaurant but it's really a family inspired menu that keeps the food as authentic as possible. Binh is Vietnamese and their sister in law Bé is Laotian. I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Bé as she was celebrating her birthday elsewhere as she should. Susana shared that her contribution is the inspired cocktail menu...which had so many yummy options that you don't see anywhere else. They had a Lychee Martini on the menu but I see it often everywhere so I ordered the Longan Martini to try and it was delish! I started with my roots and ordered a Vietnamese House Sampler described as a sampling of the crowd favorite starters. Cha Gio | Mini Banh Xeo | Bo Xien Tam for $21. The eggrolls were crispy and had the right amount of filling well seasoned, the Bite-size Banh Xeo shrimp crepes was light and the flash fried marinated beef skewers were seasoned to perfection with a family marinade. Lettuce, cilantro, mint along with the various nuoc cham (dipping sauces) were great! I didn't want to fill up as I wanted one of my favorite Lao dishes Nam Khao - Crispy red curry seasoned rice combined with small chunks of cured pork, and spices. It comes with lettuce, mint, cilantro where you can eat it like a lettuce wrap or eat it as is like fried rice for $18. This light entree for me hit the spot. The staff was exceptional, occasionally stopping g by to check if my water was ok or if I needed anything. I went to check out the bathroom to wash my hands and thought the wall murals were trendy and happy to see the restrooms were clean. I stopped at the open kitchen and complimented the chef and his staff on my delicious meal. They were very cheery and thankful for the compliment. Went back to my table and contemplated another cocktail or dessert but I was really beyond stuffed and figured I'll be back and to save options for my next visit. Chef Binh stopped by my table and we started talking about a little of everything. The restaurant concept, the seasonally inspired menu and to keep things fun for regular diners, shhhh....you didn't hear it from me...but there's even a secret menu that changes often! You'll have to ask or sign up to get the details! You don't get many seasonal menu options from Asian restaurants so I love that they have a seasonal menu and a secret one that only the special members know about! Come check out House 1830! You will not be disappointed yes, I'll be back to visit Binh, Susana and team! Thanks for the hospitality! Thank you, Zerric for the best recommendation! Xoxo
