Went for the first time yesterday. Excellent golf course, beautiful scenery, wildlife, shrubbery, etc. I'm not a bellyacher as far as pace of play. As long as I'm not waiting more than 15 mins on each hole. The wait times here were reasonable. They have a nice snack bar. The fairways and greens are well maintained. My only complaint is I wish they would flatten out the greens. By far (and it's not even close) the toughest greens I've ever played. They are super slick and not only that but slanted. We can't normalize 6+ hour rounds. It doesn't matter if it's Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon, there is a major problem when you spend at least 5-10 minutes waiting to hit your next shot. The course marshall was absolutely useless and justifying the long waits on course. Course condition is fine, but the wait time was absolutely ridiculous this past weekend. Space out the tee times, or make sure the course marshall is doing their job telling everyone to keep pace. read more

Tried booking a tee time online, had difficulty so I called and spoke with Mia who seriously was the worst person there. Kept cutting me off and repeating herself rather than listening to my issue with booking. Customer Service was horrible and I'm still waiting for a return call from their Mgr Matt. What a gem of a local golf course. Beauty abounds with fantastic vistas and all of the woodland creatures are out in force! The golf course is in great shape but be warned. First time here - went yesterday for a late afternoon tee time. Only gripe was the lack of signage at each tee box. Had to use the scorecard and look at the map for a layout of the land. But that's golf, right? Get out there, enjoy the scenery, and try to play better than your last round. Marshall checked on us once, probably curious why our pace was a bit slow or off. Was only because we chose to redo Hole 3 (didn't realize it was a dog-leg left and ended up trying to hit up to Hole 6) due to the poor signage. All-in-all; the course is well kept, the views are serene, the cart girl was friendly and attentive, and the pace of play was perfect (for being a Friday). Everything you can ask for when playing a round of golf. Will definitely be back to see if the experience repeats at an earlier tee time. That way we can see how the food and atmosphere is there after a round of golf. read more

This course is a good price for what you get. All of the fairways and greens were in pretty good shape. This is definitely one of the better prices you'll get at a course for this quality. I ordered a drink and bacon wrapped hotdog. Drinks came out fast and were good, and this was easily one of the best hot dogs I've had at a golf course. I would recommend to golf here, just know it might be backed up by a group or two but the pace still wasn't horrible. I would recommend to golf here. read more

They actually staggered the group ahead of us with another group playing just the back nine. There is no point in even coming for a 6am tee time, you will be back home 7 hours later. Booked a 6:03 AM tee time hoping to get a round in early and fast and played the first 9 in an hour 40, but there were still 3 groups booked to play the back 9 only after we had finished the front. The back 9 proceeded to be miserable with 4-5 groups on each hole. Just extremely greedy and disrespectful of people's time to be booking people to play the back 9 two hours after people have tee'd off on the front. read more

Really slow pace of play, took us 35min after our tee time to be let on the tee box and then another 40 mins to get done with the first hole. Also the greens are insanely bumpy. Added an extra star because of the scenery but that was the only good thing. At least I know now to never come back. read more

First time here. Not a constant golfer. Caught a great deal for July. Was only 38 bucks for 18 holes and a cart. The cx representative was great. She had a good attitude and very attentive. The guy not so much. Seems like he hates his job. The course was fun. Challenging for me , since I'm just getting started. The deers. The birds. The scenery was amazing. A lot of dry , dead grass though. That probably was my only complaint. Have a girls driving around with drinks. And beers. Pricey but not horrible. Def going back again to work on my game. read more

It's not the longest course, but it is pretty challenging. Lots of hills and some of the fairways are pretty narrow. If you miss the fairway, you might have a hard time locating your ball in the rough. There are also quite a few holes where you have to hit the fairway or your ball is gone in the trees and bushes. The greens here are no joke. Lots of undulating greens, so you better take your time and read the putts or it will break at the last second or roll 10-20 feet past the cup. We got a 3:00 tee time and finished at 7:00. Not too bad and there was minimal waiting at the tees or waiting for the group in front of us to hit their next shots. It was a very relaxing and fun day of golf. This was my first time playing here in like 10 years. Not sure why I didn't play here more often. It's not too expensive and it's a nicely maintained course with some nice views. I'll try to make it back here more often. read more

Booked a 10:36 tee time on a Thursday. Delayed 40 mins on the first tee. Finished 18 at 4 pm. 5'30" to play a round of golf. What a miserable pace to play. Used to enjoy playing here but lately so much has changed and there is NEVER any communication, posts, flyers anything that will let you know. SURPRISE, greens are punched, greens are sanded, no 9 holes early morning, no spectators, the 5th hole is a par 3 today with no green but here's a complimentary water to make up for it lol what a joke. Sadly these are all actual instances recently and a couple times I have wasted my gas time and money going there for them to not allow me to play because they unknowingly "changed their rules." They'll let you know when you show up to play then not let you play. Service: Poor! Marshal is rude and clueless, all he cares about is no singles going out even if it means putting out a five-some. It's not my problem no one else fills tee times. Why build a club house and not use, once again wish you guys would let people know we won't be able to buy anything from it during a round. I don't like to write bad reviews, but I was really disappointed with the way this golf course managed our tee time and experience. I had called the Pro Shop about a week in advance and booked a time for me and my young son We booked online after verifying with the Pro Shop that after 12 we were going to get a reduced rate for my son. Well, when we got there, we were told there was no junior rate except during the week. Fine life is not perfect and maybe someone in the Pro Shop messed up when we originally called so we paid and just warmed up. Not only did we tee off about 25 minutes late but the Pro Shop had booked so many tee times that we were not able to finish the last four holes. We were told that some large party who had booked in the morning, pushed their times to the afternoon and that had messed things up. Regardless, we were supposed to tee off at 12:15 and that would have left four hours and 45 minutes to finish the round. Does this course just book too many teetimes to make more money? I understand that it gets darker earlier, but I kid you not at one point there were four groups on a hole???? The course itself is fun and it would've been great had we been able to finish the round. My son has a tournament there in a few weeks and unfortunately he was not able to see a good amount of the back nine. Very frustrating. read more

This place is not good. Poorly manicured with bumpy fairways. Carts need heavy duty shocks. And not a single level tee box to be found. It would be nice to tee off with your feet level with your ball. Oh, and 6 hours for a round. Pace of play was bad as they let people out that were sharing clubs. Held up everyone behind them all day. Marshall did not address the issue. I will not be back. read more

Worst experience in my entire 30 years of golfing. Upon arrival for my 530 am on Sunday May 25th tee time. I advised the staff member that I would like to pay for my wife to be a spectator, since there was no option online to book that. The staff member very rudely said there are no spectators allowed on the weekends. She suggested I make my wife wait for me to complete my round of golf. I asked if I could just pay full price and have her ride with me. She said no and according to her that Golfnow website stipulated there are no spectators on the weekends. I look everywhere on Golfnow website and Marshall Canyons website. Nowhere does it say no spectators on the weekend. I'm sure if my skin had LESS MELANIN in it, I'm 100% positive we would've been allowed onto the course with no issues. I will never return to this golf course again and will advise my colleagues to not visit this location. read more

I played there yesterday with a partner and had a frustrating experience. I called five times the day before to ask for an earlier tee time than our 12:30 reservation, but each time I was told there were no cancellations available. We ended up teeing off at 1:15, which was 45 minutes late, and it took us three hours to complete just the first nine holes. We didn't even finish 18. Here's the bottom line: American Golf manages this course and schedules tee times every nine minutes. After people have already reserved their spots, they will add additional tee times for others. It seems like these extra players are either connected to American Golf or they're just prioritizing profit over the commitments made to those who have booked in advance. If you have the option, I'd recommend playing elsewhere! read more

This course should be shut down by the county, as it is a public health hazard. It is remarkable that more people aren't seriously injured on this course, because I've never heard "fore" screamed more often, more people playing out of the wrong fairway, and more sounds of balls smashing against tree trunks. I'm not one to disparage high-handicap golfers -- I play other courses where they fit just fine -- but there are far too many players on this course who are a danger to themselves and others, and the course is very tight and not kind to those who spray the ball. There are also several blind tee shots, where you don't know if the group in front of you is out of range. From a management perspective, our round took 5 1/2 hours, which is inexcusable. And when we showed up for our 7:12 a.m. tee time, we were told it had been moved to 7:21, for no reason at all, and we didn't tee off until 7:33. Our cart also ran out of power in the middle of the 18th hole. No apologies or explanations were offered for any of these issues, either. The greens also played as if they hadn't been cut in a week -- soft, dreadfully slow, and bumpy as hell. They were so inconsistent that every player in our group said several times that they had no idea where a putt would break. The greens weren't brown or diseased. They just needed to be cut, which seems like a fairly minimum requirement for a golf course. read more

Not worth the $. $55 per person on a Monday morning for a poorly cared for course and rude staff. Booked a tee time for 8:45 & was on time, but was pestered the whole time by staff for being a "hole behind" what we should be, although we couldn't have gone faster since group of guys ahead of us was on the same hole as us for most of the time. Staff decided to follow us for last few holes and said "I don't care if you're any good, I care if you're fast. Group behind you took photos and sent them to us.". Talked to the group of guys right ahead of us and they said they received no complaints. Used to be one of my favorite courses. I have been a loyal player for 30 years but after last Sunday (Jan 7, 2024) I likely won't play there again. I had a noon tee time. Even this time of year, starting at noon should have allowed plenty of time to complete a round. Unfortunately, the pro shop decided to squeeze in 6 unscheduled, walk-on groups between already constrained 9 minute tee times, This pushed back the entire tee sheet by more than 30 minutes. It then took more than 30 minutes to finish just the first hole. According to the starter, the rationale for allowing all the walk-ons was to make up for lost revenue from cancellations earlier in the week. As a result, we only finished 15 holes. This is unacceptable and Marshall Canyon should be ashamed. read more

This course located in the foothills of Laverne, is very well kept, and always a pleasure to play. With just the right mix of challenging holes this is a great course for the intermediate golfers. The course is often visited by the local deers. The staff are always pleasant and accommodating. Special mention to Ken at the pro shop and the marshall Larry, a military vet who works hard to keep all the golfers on schedule. I haven't had a bad experience yet. read more

If you want to play on a good golf course with challenging putts and great customer service, try this course. Yes the driving range can be improved but the course is in great condition. But the customer service is what excels. So about 3 months ago, I played Marshall and left my Hydro flask, called the pro shop to claim it but totally forgot about it. While on tee Box #8, Mike rolls up and drops it off. He said he recognized the name on the tee sheet and match it to the Hydroflask. I know it's not a trendy Stanley Cup but this was awesome customer service. Keep it up guys!!! read more

Nice course located in La Verne. Interesting track, tons of fauna ... Two of my favorite parts are: it's not crowded and the scenery itself teeming with wildlife. Deer and geese are so at home and very comfortable with humans. The greens are challenging. I gave 3 of 5 starts because I witnessed an incident between a customer and staff.
