This my why you wait so late to eat spot. Don't worry that's not a bad thing. I went with the vegan gyro. It was good I added cucumber xtra onion and a xtra sauce. Been a wonderful place for watching World Cup games! Lots of TVs and they are always great about putting on multiple games. Their mezze platters are delicious (we ate it and forgot to take a picture) and the wings are done perfectly. Staff are very friendly. read more

This is not a cafe! It is a bar that serves really bad food! We first ordered a draft dortmonder thwt was on tap and tasted like vinegar! It was on their special beer happy hour. I got a ginger ale and it was so bad I spit it out. I guess it would have been good with liquor added but not without. Food: mozzarella sticks not bad. The pepperoni cheese dip sounded good in the menu but horrible to taste. And for some reason they gave us cinnamon chips to dip it in and it was not a blend that matched!! Chicken wings were dry and overcooked. Again, drunk bar food you would never notice. Bartender Ellie was amazing but she said our food would come out all all at once which it did not! Not her fault. Lots of bees and flies around our food because they had the shutters open . Which it was a nice view but not so much with our food!! I will not go back again. This place is great! It's a neighborhood bar with some fun space-themed decor and really good food. I've had my eye on it for a while, but it was too cold to walk over. We took advantage of the warm weekend and went in for dinner. I'll certainly be back. it's super laid back in there. Half bar, half restaurant. Seat yourself. It was my first time here, and I am absolutely coming back! The bar is split into two sections; the bar + the restaurant. There are several vegetarian, gluten-free, and kids' options. I got the spinach panini and rosemary truffle fries. My panini was so good! My bread was perfectly toasted, yet soft at the same time. And those fries were YUM! I'm giving this 5 stars based on value. Guest said Swiss burger was best ever. Gyro also delicious but gyro platter was ok. The gyro meat was in smaller pieces, which was unexpected. I've been here three times in past six months and I just have to say that their truffle rosemary fries are so freaking delicious. The first two times I went to Mars Bar, my husband and I ordered drinks and split the ginormous order of fries and were deeply satisfied. During my most recent visit, we came with friends and all ordered meals. Everyone was happy. The service was quite slow but that is to be expected with the state of things right now. Regardless, our server was friendly and although she didn't write anything down, somehow managed to remember everyone's orders correctly. I really like the vibe here and they're in a great location right on Madison. I'll continue to come back, mostly to eat a huge bowl of truffle fries and cocktails :) read more

Super casual and friendly little neighborhood bar. Full bar service, no frills. Good draft offering. Great Gyro choices. The Greek Salad is fantastic. Large tomato wedges, Cucmber slices, Pepperoncini, Onion, big chunks of Feta in a tangy vinegar based dressing. It doesn't get fresher than this. The food was excellent however the salad did not come with any type of oil or dressing, I suggest you ask for it as it does not come automatically. Theres no real theme to the place it just seems to be a building that was once two other places and they just threw tables and chairs in and started serving people as a restraunt. First visit like the bar itself staff was welcoming. Sat next to a guy who ordered a gyro and sea salt fries. When it showed up I really got excited about my order. It was a Huge gyro and large portion of fries. My to go order Gyro $11 was half the size & small portion of fries $2 adder for fries. Way overpriced Beef $6 and Pork. $5 kabobs were small and way over grilled. So much for good filet mignon beef kabob. Ordered My Dip $7 hummus which came in a little 4 oz container and one pita. Way overpriced. Hummus was very flavorless needed salt and perhaps some lemon. Online menu prices are old everything is a $1 or so more. There are so many better gyro options available for half the price. read more

Finally made it to the old Lakewood favorite Mars Bar this weekend and glad we did! Always known for gyros, their kitchen has upped the ante recently and also features homemade apps, inventive salads, TJ Butcher Block burgers, pressed sandwiches and more. But when in Rome....and wow, the gyros were as advertised. The chicken gyro featured a lemony mayo, and the traditional was served mezze style large enough for two. Delicious! You can add County Fair style fries for cheap. In fact, the entire menu is 2023 affordable for the quality, considering the capitalist price gouges of so many others. The place is not glam by any stretch but clean, and service was friendly and efficient despite a very crowded atmosphere. Further proof that Lakewood is King for quality casual eats. This is our absolute favorite spot!!! The Mideteranian food would be great, if they grilled the pita. Time after time, we have visited Mars Bar without disappointed, until our latest visit. The owner has been very pleasant, and the wait staff very accommodating. This is a tough one to rate. Sliding scale when it comes to dive bars. Just because a review gets 5 stars, doesn't make the joint Pier W. Needless to say, the Mars Bar doesn't get 5 stars, but I will give it 4. Walked right in and sat down at the bar. Bartender was very nice and had a couple of nice craft brews in front of Jessica and I in no time. We asked for 'a menu' and got 'a menu'. I think they only have one in the store! Not that you need more than one. Gyros and stuff that goes in a fryer is all that's on it. So that's what we got, a gyros, fries and fried zucchini strips. And here's my take: 5 stars for effort, 5 stars for quantity of food, 3 stars for quality. The gyros was huge, but everything had a 'crunch' to it. Pita was crispy, meat was crispy, sauce, tomato and red onions were ok, but sparse compared to the amount of meat. Fries were very good. Hit my noggin on the ceiling on the way out. Matter in fact, I hit my head on the ceiling going to the shitter, too. I guess Martians are short. read more

I found this lovely little bar and grill when I was looking for a late night place for a snack. Now we are regulars. The food is amazing. The service is impeccable. It's a very chill, divey, sports bar. My favorite item on the menu is the beef kabobs. The most delectable, tender pieces of steak. They have a wonderful Sauvignon Blanc. I also love the olive medley plate. Tonight I tried the gyro. Every other reviewer who raved about the sauce was right! So delicious! This place deserves more than five stars! read more

It wasn't that busy at around 10, we walked in and waited to be seated. A server that seemed to be inconvenienced showed us to a table way in back when there was one near main bar. We opted for the closer table, another server cleaned it for us. Then, we waited, and waited, and waited. Nobody came by after 10+ minutes. We ended up leaving for another bar/grill. I've been here a couple time now, recently. I took my two sons on Monday night. We all loved it. They are very strict with social distancing rules, so you should feel comfortable. Got the Space Balls. They threw in a couple extra because of my boys being big eaters. My middle son and I both got the gyro and youngest, the burger. Both fabulous. We sat outside and took in Lakewood on a great summer evening watching the traffic up and down Madison. What more could a father ask for other than having his oldest son join the three of them. Unfortunately he live in Cincinnati now. Okay, here is why it's five stars, the service. We sat outside but the guy (bald) behind the bar served us. I've never had a better server. This guy rocked!
