Pina Colada by the pool.

We had a short overnight stay here but really enjoyed our time. The room was sparkling clean, we were conveniently located across from the pools. This is a family friendly resort. The grounds are very beautiful and we really wish we could of stayed longer. We will definitely be back. We didn't try any of the restaurants on site except for drinks at the pol bar, but will definitely do that next time. Check in staff were friendly & fast. Staff throughout the resort that we came in contact were all very friendly.

My wife and son stayed at the Marriott Shadow Ridge for 4 nights for New Years between 12/30/2025 and 1/3/2026. We had stayed here back in 2019 and had a really good time. Unfortunately since COVID, they had made some changes which I feel made this resort less desirable, mainly that they converted the movie theater area into a multi-use area. The theater is moved to the room where they had an area with video games. They also stopped showing multiple movies throughout the day, now just 1 kids movies vie during the daytime at the theater and another movie in the evening at the Snakebite pool. They do still offer plenty of daily activities for both adults and kids. All the pool areas were well maintained. There are plenty of people playing pickle ball at the converted tennis courts. They did leave a couple tennis courts for tennis use only. The staff at the Chuckwalla Bar and Grill were super friendly and provided great service. The staff at the front desk were very nice and efficient with check-in and check-out. We chose not to participate in the owner update/timeshare presentation on this trip and they weren't pushy about it. The concierge allowed use to convert some soon to expire club points into resort credit, so that was a nice option versus letting our points expire. We stayed in the smaller side of the 2 bedroom lock-off, but unfortunately the neighbor on the larger side were really loud throughout most of our stay as the door between us did not block much sound. They really need to put some sore of sound deadening insulation between the lock-off doors and hen they are split units to block sound. Overall, we had a pleasant stay other than the noisy neighbors. Now that our kids are older (18 & 13 year olds), we probably won't come here anymore as this resort is best for people with younger kids (under 12 years old). The J.W. Marriott Desert Springs is better for adult stays. The Westin Desert Willows (where we own) and Westin Mission Hills are other options in the Marriott system. The Shadow Ridge is fairly close to the freeway for easy on/off and is close to shopping such as Costco, Regal movie theater and restaurants next to the freeway.

We stay here when we can't get the dates at the JW. As mentioned before, this is a Marriott vacation resort so lots of menacing "come to our time share presentation" and phone calls - NO...STOP pestering me!! I'm a lifetime Bonvoy Marriott Titanium Elite and they do not recognize nor give the benefits. we come here for peace and quiet and a relaxing environment- the last two times, the pools (Snake Bites) were crazy noisy, loud obnoxious adults and kids...they need an adults only pool! Rooms are really out dated and furniture is pretty beat up. Grounds are well taken care of. We're going back to the JW!

Figures presented to me during owners sales presentation.....

I came here as a prospective owner and was obligated to sit through their sales presentation for my stay. While I was at this property, the elevator stopped working two times when it was over 100° and there were people stuck inside. I had to report it to maintenance and although they came quickly, it was extremely unprofessional to see that daily used amenities had failing maintenance at resort owned by Marriott. Also I use the term resort loosely, as there was no spa on site and no restaurants attached to the villas. We had to drive to other locations to access the amenities we wanted. There were many pools, but also many children everywhere. This is not a place for romance or couples. The sales presentation was also very obnoxious. After I sat through one presenter and told them no, I was then asked to see two more people who continued to present the same information to me after I already declined, and the third person wasted more than 20 minutes of my time by not even being in the room after I was asked to go and speak to them they were very rude and condescending after I told them I was not interested in becoming an owner at this time. I would much rather have paid for my vacation than deal with that deplorable sales experience. They also thought that it was professional to give me paperwork prior to my presentation that clearly indicated I was there celebrating a birthday, but highlighted the fact that I was not getting a gift. FYI you don't make any rental revenue by being part of their vacation club. You have to pay maintenance fees and taxes, and you are not guaranteed the property you want, when you want it. There are blackout dates and people who have larger portions of ownership than you that will have priority. Since I already own property, this did not sound like a good deal to me.

This is super golf resort with great amenities. The staff is very friendly and will take care of anything you need! We rented a three person room. It comes with a master suite and one bedroom with two queen beds. There is a complete kitchen with pots, pans and utensils. The living room has a large TV. The room opens onto the pool area with numerous hot tubs and two different pools. There is a bar and restaurant in the pool area. Great place to stay in Palm Springs!

This trip we stayed in the master suite; the recent renovations are very nice... these beds are phenomenal! more about the rooms, below. The property is so amazing - all the views of the mountains, and on-property plants and the golf course and animals... specifically roadrunners! on three previous trips we have seen a single road runner... this trip 3 roadrunners, all together! The sunrises and sunsets are among the best on the planet. The staff is wonderful; GM Jim is a local and clearly cares about the property and the guests. We had more fun with Araceli and team at MAZE, and much pool + sun time. See you soon, Shadow Ridge! - - - - - - - -Jan., 2024 Visit- - - - - - - -My wonderful wife and I visited Palm Desert / Palm Springs in January, and this is our first visit without the kids.Shadow Ridge rooms are two bedroom, two-bath, with full kitchen and laundry, allowing for in-room breakfasts and more, and packing fewer clothes. The rooms can be separated, and this is the first I've we stayed in the "lock-off," the one bedroom, one-bath with a mini-kitchen... refrigerator and dishwasher and combo microwave/convection oven (no stove, nor "regular" oven), with dishes and silverware and utensils (if you need more just call and ask Housekeeping for more):The room is NICELY remodeled... great colors and functional closet + dresser; and the bed and the sofa sleeper flipped locations, the addition of a table and chairs (vs. coffee table pre-renovation). New carpet, new artwork.AND THE BEST BED WE HAVE EVER SLEPT ON IN A MARRIOTT!!!The only thing that has disappointed us in our MVCI ownership has been the beds... most every trip we would both wake with achy backs... sometimes more so than others. These new beds are PHENOMENAL - firm yet with a hint of softness... unsure who makes them but so nice! THANK YOU all for making the beds so nice!We also had a GREAT TIME at The Mirage (fka Maze)... Araceli hosted great trivia matches and the staff was wonderfully generous with popcorn and lemonade one rainy afternoon. Thank you!And... we saw a roadrunner near the golf course!----------The LocationAbout 10 minutes east of the Palm Springs AirportAbout an hour east of the Ontario AirportAbout three hours from Los Angeles and San Diego Airports (though only ~ 100 miles... traffic likely to be a mix of fast and slow/stopped)Shadow Ridge is fantastically located on Monterey Ave. ... just south of I-10; 2 minutes to Costco and Walmart and other stores and restaurants.10 minutes from The Living Desert, one street to the east, on Portola, then south past Palm Desert Dr. / Hw 1117 minutes from the hiking trails on the hills above/behind Target and that shopping center - the Al Smith and Bump & Grind Trails7 minutes from Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Fred Waring5 minutes from The Palm Desert Disc Golf, at Hovely Soccer Park2 minutes to Albertson's and Bristol Farms grocery stores, at Monterey and Country Club30 minutes to the west of Joshua Tree National Park's southeastern Cottonwood Entrance, off I-10; 45 or so minutes from the northwestern entrance Hw 62.25 minutes to the Palm Springs Aerial Tram parking lot, which takes you to the top of Mt. I loved this place. I was lucky to be the guest of a vacation club member. Our apartment was gorgeous and beautifully clean. The kitchen tools looked new! So nice to be able to cook a meal and eat on a lovely patio. Bed was very comfortable. Loved the landscaping! I'm not a golfer but it was fun to watch them. Parking was great. Superb location. I was really surprised by the bad reviews. I have nothing but good things to say about this lovely place.

My second time here. First time was with my sister in a large villa as she is a Marriott owner. This time my husband and I just got a one room unit through Bonvoy site. We had an unusual but pretty view over an Audubon-certified pond by the golf course. Lovely sunsets and so much bird activity. Disappointed that they no longer have tennis pros running good clinics and round robins. But the tennis courts and pickleball courts are decent. Marriott should bring back a pro. Beautiful golf course and pools. Pretty place to walk the grounds. Easy to enjoy trips to the attractions in the desert from here. Toaster and coffee maker in our smaller room need to be replaced. Otherwise room was fine. They try to get you to do a time share presentation and we chose not to. But I get why folks would want to come here for a week every year. Did the free yoga at 7 AM every day! Namaste.

2 room suite has a full kitchen, dishes and cookware, washer and dryer- just amazing.

Monterey Country Club: Community, Class, and Unmatched Value!…read more Joining Monterey Country Club has been one of the smartest decisions I've ever made. From the moment you walk through the doors, you're greeted by name and treated like family -- it's that rare blend of warmth, professionalism, and genuine community spirit that makes every visit feel special. A huge shoutout to Bobby and Kaitlyn Ellis, who always go above and beyond to make every day at the club an absolute pleasure, and to Juan, the Membership Sales Manager, whose kindness, professionalism, and attention to detail make him an absolute gem. This staff makes you feel not just welcome, but known -- and that's something truly special. Beyond the incredible service and the beautiful course, membership here also comes with access to the Palmer Advantage program, which is a total game-changer. It opens the door to play at country clubs across the country -- both public and private -- under the Arnold Palmer management umbrella. Most of the clubs I've visited through the program don't charge a green fee at all -- just a cart fee, typically between $15 and $32. That's an unbelievable value, and I've been taking full advantage of it, especially now during the desert's overseeding break! Monterey Country Club isn't just a place to play golf -- it's a community that feels like home. If you're even thinking about joining a club in the Coachella Valley, do yourself a favor and check out Monterey. I promise you won't be disappointed.

*Monterey is a Wonderful Place*…read more The guard gated community is beautiful and peaceful... The condos/homes are spacious, light & bright with high ceilings and beautiful views of the golf courses... The swimming pools are all nice but kinda small...and the jacuzzi spas aren't hot enough... The gym is very old & outdated in need of a major facelift and better equipment & dumbbells. I've rarely seen a gym I didn't like nor can't deal with until this one. And happy I wasn't forced to workout at this facility... The Clubhouse tho is very nice...and Letty at the front desk is so friendly & welcoming...and sweet as can be... But the star of the show is/was Dennis at the Clubhouse restaurant/bar. Friendly cool dude who know's his stuff, has extensive experience in the restaurant/bar industry, provides amazing & professional service...and he was able to keep up with me while talking about sports :) Had their Ahi Tuna for a pre dinner Appetizer and it was fantastico. The "center-cut ahi tuna" was extremely fresh...and all the flavors of the dish paired very well. They do something with the sauces that's not common -- they use hoisin sauce, instead of sweet eel sauce, and together with their spicy tuna aioli it's a perfect combination. Because IMO, most eel sauces are too sweet & sugary. Compliments to the Head Chef. We intend to comeback one day for brunch because believe it or not, their Lox & Bagel Plate is only $13...and the funny thing is, when we saw that on the menu, wifey & I discussed a return visit in the future...and when we began our conversation with Dennis, discussing their menu, he told us "you need to comeback another day for the $13 Lox & Bagel Plate" and we all had a good laugh about that. My only complaint is they close the Clubhouse restaurant/bar @5pm...and it'd be nice if they stayed open later. Because I'd most defiantly linger to watch a ballgame on one their large flatscreen tv's...and spend more money on food & drinks...and I'm sure I'm not the only one who would. But all & all...Monterey Country Club is a wonderful place, centrally located in the heart of Palm Desert, right on the borderline of Rancho Mirage.

Free to visit and you can enjoy the cactus garden and wander around the gardens. Museum and gift shop as well as cafe is on sites. But this visit, we took the tour of the Annenberg property. Tour is about 90 min and about 60.00 per person. They do recommend you come a little early to view and enjoy the main building where the cactus garden was but we were a little behind and made it right before the tour started. The tour host 7 person per guided tours. We start off at check in and then met with our guide, Hema. At the beginning you start off on the golf carts where your guide gives you an introduction to the family and the property. The gate into the main residence is around the corner from the public property. It's amazing to see how someone turned a barren desert landscape into an oasis. The brief cart ride to main door was quite nice. A massive golf property hidden in the desert. Once you approached the main property, it's welcomed by a massive water feature. A knock on the double doors lead you into the lobby of the house. Just walking into the property, it's a true MCM oasis. To find out the property only has just the primary bedroom was insane as it was massive. Theres no picture allowed inside but outside was fine. Hema, very detailed in everything she explained was very sweet and detail oriented. Walking through the different rooms and seeing all the amazing things collected by both Walter and Leonore Annenberg was quite interesting. The office which house all of Walter's work, pictures of family, friends and political figures. The different room that's in the main house, their amazing artwork which some are the original pieces. Then you have the way they lived, very elegantly. Each room had their own unique style. The designer and architect sure had their hands full with detail designed of everything on site. The furniture, one of a kind design with amazing embroidery. Walter had an amazing collection of artwork and sculptures. Seeing them throughout the house and the way it was displayed in different room of the house was spectacular. Even the kitchen was nice. Still fully functional as it's still used for summits. The outside alone is one in a million. The massive property with many lakes that is fully stocked for fishing. The golf course which is a golfers heaven. And then you have the pool with a million dollar view of the mountains as the backdrop. Not only the main house, there's the guest house which is utilized for guest. And they're know by different color rooms. And by that, it's fully decorated in the color palette. That building also all looks out to the pool and mountain. Leonore, with her favorite color yellow also had a rose garden designed in the property. The tour lets you inside the lives of the Annenberg and the amazing lives they've lived. Housing major political figures, celebrities and the amazing parties had. The massive art collection and endless photos of everyone, it was a sight to see. We were invited by a friend to this so call private golf club to eat. There were literally teenagers working there. The way they dress, talk and no ideas on working in a restaurant or even hospitality. Food presentation was awful and the taste was dried and salty. They never came out to see what we needed. As a customer we had to constantly tell them what to do for all the basic that they should have been trained in. We order coffee. A cup was of coffee was brought out. Where is the creamer. Then creamer was brought out. Can we get a spoon to stir please. Constant back and forth. No self awareness of what is needed on the table or what goes with what. We can hear them laughing aloud in the restaurant as there were only 2 tables with customers including us. We heard recently there was a change of the executive chef, that did not help in quality of the food. But i think they need to re-evaluate the restaurant management and its priority. It appears this club and restaurant services senior people with money, and being private club on a Friday and in Pauma Valley with no nearby restaurants , except for some decent ones in the casinos, they settle for this restaurant. Truly my last time here and will let people know. Hire cooks and service people that want to be in the hospitality business. Not teenagers.
