Finally made it to this Italian restaurant after being attracted to their cute tables for 2 which are setup outside. We both had pasta dishes which were delicious - Paccheri En Pesto, and Tagliatelle Ragu with extra meatballs. Our fried calamari appetizer however, was a disappointment. Seems that the oil was too hot cause it was dark brown and not as tender. Plus it had many bits and pieces of fried batter. Sara was our server and took good care of us. But Ashley (a helper), went above and beyond! When she brought me extra bread, I pointed out the mess under an unoccupied table. She told me that she would take care of it and did so immediately. What an outstanding employee! Both Sara and Ashley wore smiles all the time and because of Ashley going above and beyond, I will not remove a star for the calamari. Another pleasant experience here. The food is always delicious, cooked perfectly and I love the ambience of this spot. It's homey, comforting, and upper scale all the same time. We started off with two apps - the rosette and charcuterie board. The rosettes were delicious and I could have eaten ten of them. The charcuterie board was also delicious, with the burrata being the star. My only disappointment here was that the board came with saltines, and not crostini, as indicated on the menu. Got to the restaurant for our reservation for 2 and who appeared to be the manager asked me if I cared to sit at a high top because "they had a lot of reservations". Well I'm sorry you had a lot of reservations that night but I had one too and I'm pregnant so no I don't really want to sit at a high top. The food tasted good but our waitress was not great. I think she only came to the table once while we were eating and it took her a while to come by once we were done eating so we could leave and give our table to someone else. Worst part is I got very sick that night and kept down none of that expensive dinner. As of right now I am not impressed at all and won't be going back for fear of getting sick again! read more

Cute place in Belmont. Came on a Friday with reservations. Restaurants was quite loud and the service was average. The food took over 45 mins to come out. It was a very busy night at the restaurant, so would try again on a weeknight perhaps. Bread we started with was very good. Then solid Caesar salads. We ordered the chicken Parmesan, chicken piccata and chicken Marsala. Chicken Marsala was the best of the three, had a good, balanced flavor. Parmesan was below average, it was not warm and the red sauce was very basic and had no flavor. Chicken Piccata was ok, we had to ask for more sauce as there was basically no sauce on the chicken. First visit to this wonderful discovery and it won't be our last. Great service provided by Sidney. Tried Gavi di Gavi white wine for first time & loved it! Hubby loved the Montepulciano and the Eggplant Parmigiana. Hubby (who is not normally a bread eater) had 2 pieces of the fresh, soft bread and great dipping oil & vinegar. Think olive oil, garlic, & shredded parmesan on perfect bread that Sidney said was made in house several times a day. I had the chicken piccata with potatoes and it was delicious. The ambiance is cozy for such a roomy space. Loved the pictures of the Italian towns and landmarks we have enjoyed on our visits to Italy. The calamari were really good and the bread was really good as appetizers. My husband really enjoyed his chicken Alfredo fettuccine ...the beet spinach salad was a little plain. The Customer Service was very nice. We dined outside and it was lovely. read more

Tried this place while visiting our daughter. I had high hopes but overall I was disappointed. Positives: our server, saucier (spelling?) was great. My caprese was lacking, not the juiciest tomatoes and not enough mozzarella. The meatballs were just ok and my entree of spaghetti carbonara was bland bland bland! The guancale didn't even add flavor. My husband liked his pappardelle with mushrooms and our daughter loved her gluten free own a with vodka sauce and grilled chicken. Our desserts were excellent. Favorite Italian.. consistently exceptional service and food. We love the meatballs and there's an app of circular ribbon pasta I believe (could be potato) that's divine. Even tho we get a meatballs app, I always get spaghetti and meatballs. So delicious! Lasagna is also exceptional. My only complaint is the tables on the walls are packed in. For an open space concept restaurant, it's not loud which is nice. It's easy to carry on a conversation. Cocktails are great too. Highly recommend for solid Italian. read more

I was excited to check out this new Italian restaurant while visiting my friend who lives in Belmont. We had reservations for four and were promptly seated upon arrival. Fresh bread immediately arrives as well as filtered water. Our Server, Liz D was prompt and took excellent care of us - not overbearing but always there if we needed anything at all. I started of with a Lemon Drop Martini - Not one of their speciality drinks, but they were quick to make one for me. Next time I would choose one of their speciality drinks menu. They also have a nice wine and beer selection. For my meal I chose the Fettuccine Alfredo and added chicken. It was nothing short of delicious - nice rich flavor and a large portion that I was unable to completely finish. I finished off with an amazing Creme Brûlée. I believe without a doubt it was the best ever. Nice ambience, an amazing staff and delicious food. Give it a try, I don't believe you'll walk away disappointed. read more

I tried, I really did. Lackluster, underwhelming, and butter; is the title of this review, Lackluster service, just don't care attitude. No alternatives, suggestions, or even comments. A robot server would have had more personality and attention. The food... underwhelming. The salmon was dealing in butter, the 4 capers did not add the salt content that I think the chef expected. Spend more on capers so the chef can use, say...10? Butter and lemon soaked an overcooked sliver of Salmon for $24.00. Not worth it. The side of Rapini ( broccoli rabe) the size of a tea cup saucer for $12, was overpriced for dish. And by the way, don't add Parmesan to rapini, what's wrong with you?!?! Stunad! We were excited to check out this new Italian restaurant in downtown Belmont and we were not disappointed! The entrance is welcoming, with black and white striped umbrellas lining the walkway. The atmosphere was relaxing with candles lit throughout, Italian artwork and music softly playing in the background. Now, on to the food! We started with a Caprese salad, with Barrata cheese and it was delicious. The tomatoes were plum and fresh and it was dressed with balsamic and olive oil. We ordered the strip steak (medium) with a Gorgonzola sauce, served with scalloped type potatoes. The steak was cooked to perfection. We also ordered the Pappardelle with mushrooms sauce and truffle oil. It was full of flavor, lots of porcini mushrooms and perfectly cooked pasta. The salad was a disaster--drenched in olive oil and cheese with very little dressing, and the croutons were rock-hard yet somehow chewy like gum. I've gotten takeout from this place a few times and it's always been solid. But went with some friends Saturday night and had a mixed experience. The apps were actually really good - we shared the calamari, arancini, and truffle fries and they were all tasty. But then the main courses were kinda disappointing. I got the beet salad and it was basically just a huge pile of greens with barely any beets and no bacon at all. The goat cheese was weirdly cold and had no flavor. For the price, it felt pretty skimpy. Added salmon to it which was fine but needed more seasoning. My wife wasn't happy with her veal piccata either - said the cutlets were bland and tough, like they forgot to season them. On the plus side, our server was awesome - super friendly and on top of everything. And the place has a really nice vibe. I like efficient service but this uncomfortably hurried. No time to enjoy a cocktail. They were rushed to clear our table. Our server removed my plate without asking and as my wife was still eating mediocre chicken Parmesan. What ever you pay for sub par food and service it is over priced. I'm doubtful I'll give Marrelli's a second chance. We had a good sampling of the menu starting with complimentary focaccia joined by a bottle of Gavi di Gavi, arancini rice balls in marinara, artichoke salad, gnocchi in marinara, and veal marsala followed by millefoglie for dessert. The marinara was deliciously well balanced. The salad was dressed in a mild citrus vinaigrette, the gnocci were velvety puffs of pasta wrapped potato stuffing in marina, and the veal marsala perfect in a marsala sauce so well prepared mushrooms could be tasted in the presence of rosemary, marsala wine sauce, and sautéed veal. Cappuccino topped it all off making it one of our best meals in recent memory. Looking forward to our next visit to Marrelli's. read more

Overall the food was great. Service was not. We went on a Wednesday with family in town. Sat promptly. The server just seemed he was doing everything not to be at the table. We would ask questions and it was clear he knew nothing about the menu. That aside the food was overall great. The bread omg is the best focaccia I've ever had! Like others they drizzle oil but they need to serve with Evoo or butter. It just needs a little more even though it's fluffy, warm, and fresh. We got the arnachini and caprese to start. I didn't love either. Burrata was fresh but the tomatoes were huge and disproportionate. Not bad just nothing special. The arnachinni base was just not for me, must love basil to love it. It was cooked well and sauce is great. Simple but flavorful sauce. As for the meals. Lasagna might be the best I've ever had. I don't typically order it but we tasted all the meals. I don't know if they whip the ricotta but it made a creamy layer in it so it wasn't as heavy as traditional. We all agreed it was the best item. Second, was the bolognese. Meaty and homemade pasta for the win. Only feedback is needs a little more sauce. Husband got a chicken prosciutto dish with a vodka type of sauce. Was great as well. Was served with potatoes those were fine but I personally would get it with pasta. Last, the only dish that wasn't loved (yet recommended by the server) was the gnocchi. Just was bland and the gnocchi were overcooked. Definitely homemade. We will definitely come back in the future to explore the menu more. Food was excellent but a little pricey. Service could have been better. Probably a new server with little to none experience. I found the ambiance to be cold, dark and uncomfortable. The tables a little too small and the metal framed chairs were very uncomfortable and cold on my back. Poor lighting and echoey room. They need fabric draperies either on the ceiling or the window/walls or some tapestries to help deaden the sound and bring warmth a cozy warmth to the space. Could be good but not sure. Probably will improve in time if they put a little more money into the decor and training the staff. When we moved from NY, we were happy to find some good Italian restaurants here. Now we have a great Italian restaurant! The food is superb coupled with a very nice wine list. The service is very professional and friendly. Yes, it's a bit on the pricey side but worth every penny. We've already been back and will return regularly! read more
