I come here often, the ticket prices are cheap, and the staff is really nice. It feels like a time portal to the 1990s that makes movie going more appealing to me. The popcorn is very good, the larges have free refills, the bucket is huge. The staff is also pretty young, so I think they try to bring in kids for their first jobs, which I think is cool to see. Supporting the local community. It always seems like the staff is having fun, which as someone who sees multiple movies feel welcoming. Couple times a month I take a full day off and come here for the whole day to see whatever is on, I feel good supporting the community, and this place feels like a comfortable living room away from home. I've gone to plenty of theatres in my life and nothing is more of a bummer than seeing miserable staff chilling on their phones in the corner. I'm sure the owners are kind. read more

Westbrook Cinema was easily one of the worst movie experiences I've ever had. The moment I walked in, the place smelled musty and unclean. The floors were sticky and littered with food, wrappers, and spilled drinks that clearly hadn't been cleaned up in a while. All of the bathrooms were either out of order or in horrible condition, with no soap and a generally filthy appearance. It felt like the entire place hadn't been properly maintained in years. For the high ticket prices they charge, I expected something at least halfway decent--not this mess. Inside the theater, things didn't get any better. The seats were uncomfortable to the point of causing back pain, and most of them were covered in dust like they hadn't been touched in weeks. The sound system was weak, with muffled audio, and the movie itself kept glitching--at times it froze or flickered, completely taking me out of the experience. This cinema is seriously overpriced for the condition it's in, and nothing about it justifies the cost. I wouldn't recommend Westbrook Cinema to anyone until they invest in major cleaning, repairs, and upgrades. read more

We have enjoyed many wonderful movies at Westbrook Marquee Cinema. The movie tickets are a great value. It is such a treat to see the movies on a big screen. The screening rooms are fine! I don't spend much time in the bathroom or entrance area, so those areas do not impact my theater experience in the least. You should go enjoy a movie there! read more

This place is not too far from home and usually shows the great horror movies I can't wait to see! Most recently, I was there to see Longlegs and Maxxxine. An unexpected bonus was that they offer alcohol! The perfect complement to my popcorn. That being said, the age of streaming has taken its toll on the industry as a whole. I had the theater to myself for a showing at 5:10 on a Saturday and there were maybe 20 people for first night of Longlegs, an 8:10 show. The chairs and bathrooms could definitely use an update. I can't say enough bad things about this place. There was no heat. It was well below freezing outside and barely above inside. Wanted a drink, no one was at thecounter. The cleaning crew was there in the theater when we arrived. We asked them to leave, it was really noisy. They ignored us. (I speak decent Spanish, so no, it wasn't that). We asked the manager to have them stop. Nothing. The continued thru the previews. And when the movie started. At which time everyone told them to leave. And they spent 5-10 minutes packing up. Went for matinee last Saturday to see Mission Impossible. Had not been to this theatre in about 2+ years. It was a good ticket price, but the usual overpriced concessions. But I am hearing deficient, and although we inquired, we were told that no hearing assistive devices are available at this theatre. The volume of the dialogue was very low (as my spouse who has excellent hearing confirmed), although the music and sound effects were amplified substantially. I was left to watch the action, not understanding the context. Floor was sticky from spilled beverages, and theater was very cold. Stadium seating and chairs were adequate, with unobstructed view of screen. We were made to sit through the usual onslaught of ads and trailers for what seemed like an eternity, before the movie began. At least 4 reminders to turn off cell phones. I guess we've become spoiled with massive TV screens at home, and volumes we can control. We won't be going back to this theatre anytime soon. read more

Nice location and always a good selection of films. Friendly staff. And I'm happy with the ticket prices. (Crazy expensive but better than other places) But cleanliness is a big turn off. On a recent visit, I had to make a conscious effort to move my feet because my shoes kept sticking to the floor. I had to get up and move during the film. I know all theaters suffer from split soda and popcorn but this place seems to suffer more. I also want to add that management needs to step up their game. They make promises to potential hires and don't follow through and the ticket booth/ concession stand staff would rather flirt with each other and patrons then work hard. read more

Forgot how fun experiencing movies on the big screen is, plus the sound is amazing! I am a movie fan once again! Well worth the money even on a Saturday. Seeing a music concert or play would be ten times the price! Would hate for them to close- then there is no please else to see movies that is nearby. Decor is bit outdated, but I'm not there for the decor. :) popcorn was good and licorice is always my favorite! Blame the greedy Hollywood liberals for the inflated movie prices. I love this quirky theater located next to the outlet stores in Westbrook, CT. It's located in the eastern corner of the shopping complex and you can see it from highway 95. This theater has been here for many years now, so the fixtures are not new and shiny. However, management keeps the theaters clean and in repair- no sticky floors or dirty bathrooms. Theater projectors have been upgraded to the new digital technology as is standard now so the picture and sound are excellent. The staff are friendly and cordial, and the refreshment area is spacious with the standard selections. So if you are looking to catch a movie and are in the area, you won't go wrong visiting the Marquee Cinemas! read more

Grandmother and her 8yo grandson next to me at concessions counter ordered two bottles of Dasani water - Manager asked for $9.50. She said thank you and walked away. I had to confirm if he actually said $9.50 for two bottles of purified Dasani water that you can get at Walmart for ten cents a bottle as I thought I might have misunderstood him and he said yes - and had the audacity to further try to justify the price by claiming that the theater had to make a profit. FYI - that's not a normal profit that's gouging. Notwithstanding that repugnant experience - kids ordered $8.50 bags of popcorn that were stale. At least $60 for one adult and two kids to go to movies and order popcorn and slushee and that was for a 1pm matinee. They can keep it - I would rather stay home and rent the same movie on TV than go through that again. And the industry wonders why box office receipts are down. read more

It was raining. There was nothing to do. We went to the theater. Nothing was playing at 4pm except World Trade Center. On the way to the theater we both swore we would never see that movie. I am not sure what happened. The movie was surprisingly decent but that is beside the point. The theater itself is fine. Prices are average. The stadium seating is okay but the theaters are small so sit high up to not feel like you are too close. The movie started about 20 minutes late so I'm not sure what was up with that. Located conveniently off Interstate 95, this is your typical major 8+ screen theater. It shows all the top films at competitive prices and is pretty busy. Kids are everywhere but we have never had an issue whether we brought our young kids or dropped off our teens. Security is visible on the weekends. It is situated next to the popular outlet mall. My hometown movie theater. When I was in high school, my boyfriend, best friend and neighbor all worked here, which meant that I never once paid for a movie. When you're 14, nothing inflates your ego like having a small-town velvet rope lifted for you so you can sneak into R-rated movies. Aside from that, Marquee Cinemas are the nicest cinemas on the shoreline. Mostly mainstream flicks - if you're looking for independent or international fare, you'll have to go to Madison. Stadium seating, cup holders, clean bathrooms, plenty of parking. This is a great movie theater. Especially when compared against the one in Waterford, CT. The theater offers stadium style seating with nice large screens and an awesome sound system. I always go to this theater even though it is farther away than one in Waterford. I've been going here for close to 10 years and do not recall seeing any parts of it in disrepair. My girlfriend and I decided to go to this theater to see the pickachu movie (which the actual movie itself was amazing and I want to see it again already!!) But we usually go to the Waterford theatre because their seats are nice and everything else... But tonight was a location thing. So she was farm-sitting in Westbrook so we figured it makes the most sense to go to that theatre. We will NEVER return. Off the bat the customer service was nothing but rude to us. We came a little after the scheduled time for the movie to start thinking we might not get a seat!! But they had openings, so yay! We wanted to pay separately & they didn't take Amex so I needed to pay cash. My friend paid with her card and the boy who we were buying the tickets from was beyond rude, acting like splitting the cost of the tickets was such a problem. If it really was he could have rung ours up separately. My friend even suggested that I just give her cash and she puts it all on her card. But by that point he already split the bill so she didn't have to put it all on her card. He said what number theatre it was at but no location (which is usually customary) we decided to get slushies because why not? There was a group of people in their PJ's (what a sweet idea!) ahead of us ordering so we figured it wouldn't be an issue. Boyyy was it. It was really only the male workers that had all the sass. So I ordered a orange cream-sickle one and he needed to make change because I paid cash and asked one of the other 3 co-workers if a roll of pennies was 50 cents... No one seemed to know the answer so I said, no a roll of pennies equals $1. He was upset that I knew that and he didn't. So my friend ordered herself a slushie and some nachos. He couldn't handle both things on his own and asked the girl to "make nachos" which is just putting them in a container and pouring cheese in the section for it.. not that difficult. So she paid and I was looking for napkins for her and there were none anywhere. I basically announced that and none of the staff responded. So we walk over to our movie. We were so surprised that the theater had barley any guests!! We got the best seats!! We both noticed a lot of garbage and food on the floor from previous movies.. THAT'S HOW YOU GET ANTS!! (Also leaving the theatre we noticed a huge amount in the other rows of food and garbage where NO ONE was sitting for our movie)... So we loved the movie itself it is now by far one of my favorites of all time!! We both had to use the ladies room.. in which both sex bathrooms wreaked like sewer stench!! There was TP scattered all over the floor and many of the stalls were so dirty I wouldn't want my worst enemy to relieve themselves in them... When we were headed out I wanted to talk to a manager but there was absolutely no one to be found. This was at like maybe 12am, but still there are customers present.. the staff should be around too. If I were you I wouldn't DREAM of going to this sad excuse for a movie theater even if someone PAID you to go. Do Waterford cinemas instead.. they are friendly with cozy seats and good hygiene!! They are NOT open until midnight. I drove like a madman with my girl after she got off work to see the late movie, we were 10 minutes late. The movie started at 9:45, we were at the door at 9:55. Figured it would still be in previews, but all the doors were locked, not a person to be seen anywhere. Not in the box office, not in the concession area. Hand's down one of the junkier cinema's I have visited. Uncleaned theaters are somewhat the norm, but sticky floors? The screen was in poor condition and the ceiling literally was falling apart. Seeing theaters in disrepair is normal if it was a prewar building, but this is a "modern" cinema multiplex!! And don't get me started on the bathrooms. If you're looking to run your theatre business into bankruptcy, just do what Marquee 12 Westbrook does. They cancelled the movie we went to see even though it was listed on their website and marquis. We even called first because we had a long drive. The ticket girl told us they canceled it for a surprise showing of something else. We decided to see a different movie. The seats are very uncomfortable, the sound system was buzzing, the popcorn was stale & the movie was cut off right at the end with no ending credits which was abrupt and strange. Most lights in dirty ladies room weren't working! We watched one elderly gentleman explain to one of the very few staff that the earphones they gave him weren't working. They just stared at him then suggested he come back later if he still couldn't get them to work! I would have complained to a manager but it's pretty clear management couldn't care less about their customers. Obviously they are going out of business but I hope prospective buyers understand the reputation of this theatre is abysmal and probably irreparable. read more

Went there today for the 2:10 matinee of Boss Baby. Staff was so nice to my 6 year old niece really engage themselves with all the kids. Clean and basic was nice to see everyone having fun. Was surprised to see they also had a coloring activity set up for the kids as we left. Would go back again. read more

I visited this theater Sunday night. I am not one to usually write reviews or complain, honestly, but the conditions of this theatre made me feel like something should be said. First, going into the theater- it had clearly not been cleaned between screenings, with wrappers, trash and food littering the seats. After the movie, visiting the restroom is what made me decide I will probably not be going back. Many stalls were out of order, the open ones were trashed, or lacked flushing power, there are no seat covers in any of the stalls- and after that the sink counters were wet and every single hand soap dispenser was empty. There was a puddle of soap on the counter though. I guess I could also mention that no one is ever checking tickets, which is awesome for the teenagers because you can pay for a PG or PG13 movie and then wander into whichever movie you want- or not pay at all and see a few movies, but as someone who loves my big screen experience it's distracting and disruptive. You may want to avoid this theater. I went to see the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo between Christmas and New Years and had a very poor experience there. I had been looking forward to this movie for some time, after reading the books and seeing the original movies, I wanted to see the "American Take". Anyway after what felt like hours watching their insipid commercials, the movie started, but it seemed like everybody was using a cell phone but me. There were also a few pre-teens in the cinema without parents. I even asked one guy to turn his off. I went out to tell the manager, but guess what? He was using a cell phone; I wasn't going to wait, since god knows the Angry Birds is more important than Angry Customers, so I left then and there. When I tried to get hold of someone at the theater, I was told I had to use their internet site. So after sending an email and getting no response, here I am. This cinema is over 10 years old and while it is all digital projection, these days that is nothing special. It appears there have been no upgrades anywhere in the complex. It looks like it is falling apart at the seams. The auditoriums are usually dirty with the floors covered with trash from the last showing, it seems like they don't know the meaning of the word usher. The Trash cans were overflowing that day. The overpriced candy stand was filthy and the kids who run it just seem to be in a daze. After using the bathrooms you need to take a Silkwood Shower to feel clean again. The Men's rooms had no paper towels and the stalls broken. From what I have heard and read and this site, the ladies room could be considered a crime scene. Do yourself a favor and visit one of the nearby Regal theaters and better yet patronize the local Art cinema in Madison. I don't go to the movies a lot these days and cinemas like this a reason to just get a DVD.
