A great dining experience! Visited Oakville for a couple days and decided to try this place after seeing how many positive reviews they had. The servers were friendly and seemed to all pitch in to make themselves available to any table that needed, rather than one waiter sticking solely to one area of the room. The pitcher of orange and mint infused water that they brought to the table was also a nice touch. Definitely a good alternative to the typical lemon water, and the flavor really complemented the food. My boyfriend and I ordered two platters and were surprised to see how big the portions were when the food came out! Everything tasted fresh and our plates were balanced with good amounts of both veggies and meat. Everything was seasoned well - including the pita bread which had olive oil and herbs on it. The atmosphere was crowded and a little loud, but we were so focused on stuffing our faces, there wasn't much time for talking anyways. Overall, a great gem in Oakville. Went here for lunch on Thursday. My 2nd time here and enjoyed My Lunch in Beirut so much I had to come back. It was a plate of shawarma on hummus with beets at one end and cucumbers on the other. The hummus is lovely and creamy. Slather that with the shredded tasty chicken on the accompanying warm pita and you're in Mediterranean heaven. I had ordered a glass of wine and after finishing the glass I noticed a small chip in the top. Nothing major but I did want them to take the glass out of production. Mentioned it to, I think, the owner who was apologetic and took the wine off the bill. That wasn't my intent. I just wanted to make sure no I've else was given the glass. So that was a bonus. Also, on our 2nd visit, ordered the Zanjabeel flatbread. Was a big beautiful salad on a pita. Took us a while to find the pita but so worth the search. Tasty dressing just put this over the top. I love everything about this place. My only complaint was the fact that it took us a while to get the bill. read more

Finally made it to Maro's after a recommendation I'd received some time ago. My boyfriend And I ordered two of their craft beers then Here Comes the Bride and Bella and the Beast at the recommendation of the nice man working there. Very helpful suggestions on the menu. The food was delicious. The marinara tahini on the fish makes it melt in your mouth while your taste buds explode. Most of the staff are friendly though there was one that just dropped our plate to the table without a word. Regardless the rest of the staff and the chefs more than made up for that. Yum! read more

Hard to comprehend the glowing reviews. Service, from a guy who looked like he'd rather be anywhere else, was surly and slow, ambience nothing special. The food likewise: stringy tasteless salad including rock hard tomatoes, served on a flatbread that resembled damp cardboard. The artichoke hearts that gave this dish its name simply weren't there. Hands down my favourite restaurant in Oakville. I love pretty much anything that I've tried here! The store is always busy and the waiters are really nice in general too. I do have to say that they have jacked up their prices A LOT in the past 2 years since I started coming. If you've never been I would recommend getting either the phonecia garden or Bella and the beast. The cauliflower on those two dishes is to die for and so is the hummus. The "here comes the bride" is also very good - there's a lot of fish and it's cooked crispy without being too oily. The potato famine is pretty average, nothing special about it so probably wouldn't recommend considering their other food is so much better. read more

Came here with a few coworkers and we dined outside against the lovely garden backdrop and lighting on a warm summer evening. Lovely. Our waiter was super helpful and friendly and our food was provided quickly. We ordered a few plates to try and our favorites were the "Here Comes the Bride" (fish filets) and the Fattouch. We didn't opt for dessert as the options were uninspiring (where's the Katayef!) but we did partake on the Turkish coffee. The fish filets were juicy and tender. All plates were authentic and well prepared. Lovely fattouch salad with almost the perfect amount of acidity. The strong Turkish coffee was the cat's meow and worth the experience! I'll have to knock the perfect 5 stars due to only having Baklava for dessert... surely this can be expanded on! Definitely recommend if you're in the area! read more

Just returned from our dinner. There were four of us and our server took the time to walk us through the menu and make suggestions. Everything she suggested was fabulous. She was as much a star as the food. Authentic tasting, huge portions and lots to take home for leftovers. A lively, boisterous kind of place which appears to always be busy. Driving across Oakville was here with a friends recommendation. The patio was so gorgeous but too cold to click pictures. So patio I'm coming for you next time. As we entered we were greeted my the server. We were a group of four and ordered the lunch in Beirut and Bella and the beast and complimentery naan. The naan was so fresh it was amazing. It was not soggy or stretchy. The lunch in Beirut was chicken Shawarma which was amazing. It had great flavours and brilliant seasoning. The hummus was so great we ended up scraping the bottom of the plate. The Bella and the beast was fried cauliflower with picked cabbage and hummus. The fried cauliflower was a little bland. This has become our go to spot for casual patio dinners! They have so many vegetarian options (harder to find in middle eastern places) and we love their portion sizes. We always end up with tons of leftovers! The vibe is chill and they're set up the most gorgeous patio right outside too You can't not have their dessert and tea which are to die for!!! Decor is pleasant and the menu offers a large selection of vegan and meat dishes, with creative names such as Samson and Delilah, A Day in a Lebanese Mountain, and Here Comes The Bride. COVID-19 measures are in place, such as reduced seating. Having said that, the table for two at the back left is positioned too close to where employees prepare tea and take out orders; it should be repositioned in order to provide better physical distancing. Maro's is only accepting cash payments; contactless payment option would have been preferred, given COVID-19. I ordered Fairouz for my meal (Cajun spiced grilled veggies mixed with Lebanese garlic potatoes on a bed of hummus topped with beef and lamb cevapi). The serving size was good and the dish was tasty. I have to love spots in the suburbs that are homegrown, nurtured by a family, and just caring more about the food than the actual turn around of a table. Maro's is just one of the few I've found in GTA that fits that perfect description. The place is never empty and there is a great reason for it. The spot isn't so big but it's big in heart... you're greeted quickly and cheerfully. Families with little ones run around and there's a lightness to the place. It is simple but there's a few heartfelt strong signage around the place. There's a simple touch of the Mediterranean here... nothing upfront but the brass touches, there's a hint of it. The stones and wood just makes it feel like someone's home. About the menu, it's pretty epically big. You need help deciding because there are probably way too many things that sounds good ... and yet similar to other dishes at the same time. Staff here is friendly so no questions is dumb and you will get your answer. Love the fact that there are also vegan/vegetarian options. Before I got into each dish, I do want to comment on the dish sizes... dear god these can feed teams of people. Ok, slight exaggeration but they can feed at least two. I ended bringing back home my dish... about 1/3 cause there was no feasible possible way for me to eat more. I was done... completely. Bella and the Beast - Bright and bold, the plate of fried cauliflower head with hummus, couscous, cabbage, and beets was really nicely plated. Such a generous plate. I would say that this was almost startling on how much was given. The pickled beets and cabbage was needed as a light taste compared to the heavier hummus and couscous in the dish. The cauliflower was cooked through but it was a touch bland by itself but once you mixed everything together... you had a bit of citrus, a bit of garlic, a touch of acidity... it all came together. 4/5 Lunch in Beirut - I have to admit that I'm always pausing when I ask for chicken shawarma cause most of the time it's dry. Here... revelation, it's not dry. If anything, I found this really juicy and tender. Im completely surprised. Similar to the Bella and the Beast, it comes with hummus, pickled beets, cabbage, and some additional onions and peppers. Generous plate and I enjoyed it. I probably could have enjoyed it more spiced up flavouful and not just being juicy but I wasn't going to push my luck. 4/5 Falafels - The side plate of falafels was a solid add on. Fried crispy, these were pretty tender and fluffy on the inside. I would have liked them to be spiced... I feel the ones in North America are afraid of using coriander or cumin. That's the good stuff! 3.5/5 Overall, loved the warm family friendly atmosphere and the nice plating. It's great to see a place like this in GTA that isn't some corporate brand. This is a very nice Mediterranean restaurant in the middle of downtown Oakville. Owner operated by a very involved owner by the name of "Maro"! Maro made our small group of 4 people feel well cared for. He waited on our table himself (along with others), he explained the food, what went into the dish & was just an excellent all around host. We ordered a total of four dishes for sharing...Lunch in Beirut, Here Comes the Bride, Marhaba & Mediterranean Pearl. All the dishes were just delectable beyond belief. The food was hand prepared & looked & tasted "REAL"! At the end of the meal Maro served us complimentary Falafels which were the best tasting Falafels is ever tasted! The food and ambience at Maro's is fantastic, filled with delicious flavours, joyful music and friendly staff. I enjoyed a Turkish coffee while I waited for takeout. The presentation was lovely, plus the saffron sugar added a lovely touch. Although I'm not vegan, some of my friends are, plus I eat a lot of plant-based dishes, so it was nice to see many options on the menu. I tried Bella and the Beast (the couscous was delicious and the cauliflower was nice too) and Phoenicia Garden (asked to hold the peppers); the ingredients were fresh. I added authentic chicken shawarma and it complemented the other dishes well. I got the baklava bites for dessert; the perfect amount of sweetness and incredibly fresh.
