Cold brew, a latte with honey and salt (in my personal cup) and a sourdough almond croissant.

Normally we come for lunch or dinner, but I was craving a latte and ended up enticed by their expanded breakfast offerings. The sausage sandwich is super flavorful with eggs, a sausage patty, arugula, and a tasty sauce. I'd had their egg sandwich before and honestly it was a little bland, so the sausage really makes it. My coffee was perfect as always. I love that they use organic milk and it's always a little piece of art to sip and enjoy. The almond croissant was flakey with just the right about of filling. My husband is also a fan of their cold brew. One note is that if you come in for breakfast you won't get the service they provide for lunch and dinner. They're busy prepping for lunch, so you'll need to flag someone down if you need something. They always seem happy to ensure your dining experience is superb.

Braised Pork Pizza

Makawao, HI. I really liked this restaurant . We were seated without a reservation and the place was very busy. All the staff ladies were exceptionally friendly and helpful. This was about 6:00 pm for dinner. The vibe is casual but trendy. A buzz of activity was going on. Everything we tried was just bursting with flavors! We started out with the meatballs which were as good as grandma's, who made the best, of course. I would categorize them as "Memorable Meatballs". The sauce that came with them (2 of them) was perfect in every way. The chopped salad was large enough for three people and was fresh and delicious. The dressing was a great complimentary addition to the greens. The braised pork pizza was over the top good. Just the right amount of char on a sourdough crust and a sauce that was just full of flavor. The Lilikoi butter provided a bright spot on the tomato palate. This I believe, helps make this pizza unique. The prawns were large and you get six. They tasted great , soaked in chimichurri . They would be perfect with just a little less salt and a bit more garlic. Mushrooms in crème fraiche, just outstanding. Note that the emphasis is on the sauce, not the mushrooms. For dessert was the gelato with fennel pollen, honey, olive oil, and sea salt. This is an absolute must to try, it's divine. The Panna cotta is rich and silky, nicely done. There is a decorative crumble on top that adds a little crunch and gives the dish a good presentation. There are some sweet floral notes in the custard, most likely cardamom. The ginger fizz drink is very good with a nice ginger kick without tasting like ginger ale. A well constructed mocktail. The vibe in the morning is about a 180 degree turn about. There is no table service, not busy enough. Order at the counter. The cheerful night time ladies have been replaced by a solitary glum teen who is not happy and maybe don't even like the people she has to deal with in the morning. She is efficient though. Nevertheless, the quiche was great. Great flavor, great crust, interesting top glaze that was different from any I've seen. The latte featured the same topping of fennel pollen, etc. that was on the gelato last night. Pretty amazing version of a latte. My suggestion, to make it perfect, is to order it with an extra shot in a large ceramic cup. The bathroom here is clean and I never encountered a line.

Good Food from salads, starters, to artisan style, neapolitan sourdough pizza. Everything is delicious! They have a daily specials menu to choose from as well as their regular menu. Service is always friendly upon arrival and they are helpful throughout your dining. Ambiance is casual. Great place to have small special family events or group party celebrations. Recommend if in Upcountry Maui and looking for an Italian restaurant. Reservations available on line.

Super chill lunch spot after our bike ride through Makawao and Paia. The pizza was honestly some of the best I had, the dough was so good. Cocktails were so fresh, and service was also great. Totally recommend if you're in the area.

I love marlow. Have never had a bad experience here. This time we put stopped after the farmers market for lunch. We're seated quickly right around the time their dining room opened (11a). Their chopped salad is good, their potato pizza is good, and their veg of the day was DELICIOUS! Beware, the jalapeño romesco is quite spicy but it's so delicious.

Mafaldine bolognese, chicories salad, roasted local veg, mocktail.

Spontaneous arrival at Marlow during a weekday evening for dinner. We were seated right away without a reservation, and the restaurant was almost full. I guess we got lucky there was a recently vacated table toward the end of the evening, in between the first evening rush and the last evening rush. The food is served family style. We had two starters and a main pasta dish; the local roasted veg., chicories salad and the mafaldine bolognese. All tasted great, just the right amount for two hungry adults, and market rate price (expensive but not out of line for the class of dining experience and product in that area). Service was welcoming and efficient. The bolognese had noodles I don't think I've ever noticed before (and pasta is a significant part of my diet). It was so good. Long, wavy, ruffled ribbons which held the sauce and meat well...where have these mafaldine noodles been all my life! Yum. The salad had fine slivers of apple, pistachios and delicate dressing, among other things. The vegetables were prepared carefully and presented nicely. Everything full of flavor, balanced seasonings and simple, yet nuanced sauces. All prepared in a way that you could enjoy the flavors and textures. We didn't try the (wood fired? brick oven?) pizza, but that seems to be their signature dish. I like that you could have a casual gathering here around pizza or something a little more upscale yet casual. They do breakfast and lunch as well. The location in Pukalani is in a newer development that also houses Lahaina Brewing in the same building. (The brewery has magnificent sunset view from upstairs, by the way). It's in a scenic area, though no direct views from the restaurant, maybe a bit of the verdant green hills in the distance. It has a utilitarian feel, spacious area, cement floors, high industrial loft like ceilings, open kitchen, etc. but with nice lighting, bench seating areas, outdoor seating, as well as ample group seating. Great for gatherings and celebrations. You could have a date night here, or take the gang out for pizza. I'm guessing they would handle lunch and breakfast with similar finesse and quality in their dishes. Marlow seems versatile with care and intention for fresh and satisfying dishes. We tried to go again a few nights later, but they only had seating at the bar.

Fungi pizza.

I was on Maui to help out at a big Yelp Elite Event, and many MANY local Yelpers told me I must take the journey to the Upcountry and order a pizza from Marlow. So, of course, I obliged! But first, I stopped at Mahalo Aleworks next door, as I wasn't quite ready for lunch yet. I was excited to find out that I could order a pizza to go from Marlow and eat it at the brewery. It was hard to decide what to get, but it looked like their Fungi Pizza was a popular choice so I grabbed one and waited while I finished my beer. It took awhile, but was well worth the wait. The pizza was phenomenal. Hot, cheesy, and covered in tender mushrooms. It needed nothing, as it was the perfect slice on its own. My only regret is that they don't make a "small" size as this pie was HUGE and could have fed an army. I was only inside actual Marlow for a few minutes while I picked up my pizza, but I loved its quaint, rustic vibe. It was full of people and there was a waitlist - if you go in person, I recommend getting there early (or enjoying it from next door as I did). They also have some tasty-sounding non-pizza options. I'm still regretting not trying the meatballs!

Meatballs were amazing. The bolognese was so salty we couldn't eat it. The pizza was good. Wasn't worth the hype for me.

Food is good but what really pissed me off was no refills on a five dollar cup of coffee.

We went on at a busy time but the line moved quickly and there were enough tables/chairs that we were able to dine in. The staff was nice and gave some good recommendations! The food I had was excellent, I ended up getting the breakfast sandwich, fruit tart, and their latte was so ono. I definitely want to come back. The only downside is the parking, very limited and tight. Also just an fyi. There were also a lot of potholes in their parking lot that day.

Tell me you don't want me to be here without actually saying, "I don't want you here."…read more We've been coming to Grandmas for over 10 years, and it's always been one of those comfy, cozy places that just feels good. This visit felt really different. Today we brought family visiting from off-island after a walk on Thompson Road. We decided to stay and dine in instead of taking it to go. Looking back... maybe takeout would've been the better option. Ugh. I honestly hate writing this. The only reason I am is because I'm hoping someone from the Grandmas team reads this and actually cares enough to make some changes. If you don't know, you can't grow. Today our experience looked like this: * Watching several people get served after us even though we ordered first. Waiting for almost 30 minutes. * Our order getting mixed up and handed to the wrong person * Confusion about what muffins were available... okay fine, I'll take a blueberry muffin. Then halfway through eating it, I found a hair baked into it * Ordering potatoes without onions because of an allergy, having it made wrong twice, and needing it redone * Noticing the restaurant itself looked like it could use a deep cleaning, including ceiling fans with layers of dust And maybe this was just an off day, but the staff vibe felt... off too. Disconnected. Kind of cliquey. Like everyone seemed more interested in talking amongst themselves than serving guests. The warm, welcoming feeling Grandmas always had just didn't feel like it was there today. As a customer, I honestly felt like I was intruding or inconveniencing the staff just by being there, and that's a really strange feeling in a place we've loved for so long. That's honestly the part that made me the most disappointed. We've loved Grandmas for years, which is why this was tough. After reading several other reviews, it seems others may have had similar experiences too. I really hope things improve and staff morale lifts, because as customers, we feel it. Mahalo for reading. I truly hope this helps and leads to positive changes.
