However, when I had my appointment on Friday, September 27th, things quickly went downhill. My appointment was scheduled for 5:15 PM, but I was not seen until 5:45 PM. When I finally met with Dr. Dasari, I expressed concerns about my digestive issues and potential food allergies such as lactose intolerance and gluten sensitivity. Dr. Dasari informed me that there was no way to test for lactose intolerance except through elimination from my diet, which was both surprising and inaccurate. Upon further research and consultation with another gastroenterologist, I learned that their office offers the lactose breath test, a recognized method for diagnosing lactose intolerance. Additionally, I discovered that a blood sugar test and stool acidity test can also identify lactose intolerance. None of these were mentioned during my visit. When I asked more questions to clarify, Dr. Dasari simply responded, "Well, I'm a doctor," as though that should be the end of the discussion. Being a doctor does not necessarily mean all information provided is correct, as this situation clearly demonstrated. Additionally, I asked Dr. Dasari about gluten sensitivity, as I had taken a DNA test that indicated I am a carrier for celiac disease. Instead of addressing this concern thoroughly, she mentioned that a blood test could be done "next time." She then palpated my abdomen and said, "See that your stomach is soft? You're normal." As I continued to express concerns, she dismissed me, laughed at my face to all my questions, and ignored me, following with an awkward silence and failing to provide clear answers. Throughout the consultation, I felt as though my questions were not taken seriously, and I left feeling embarrassed for having raised legitimate health concerns. Dr. Dasari also emphasized "cleansing and eliminating" as a solution and prescribed GaviLyte, advising me to take Miralax daily after that. I understand this advice, but I was looking for a confirmation by a professional and a proper diagnosis. While I understand that this approach could work, I was looking for medical confirmation rather than a self-diagnosis. I have never experienced such a lack of attention from a medical provider. I left the appointment feeling dismissed, devalued, and frustrated with the overall lack of professionalism and attention to my medical needs. I understand that I'm young, but I still have concerns about my digestive system especially since I've had family members who had passed away from related cancers. It was a really sad experience, I still can't believe she laughed at questions of concerns and answering each of them with "I'm a doctor" and that "I'm too young to have any gastrointestinal issues." She told me to come back after I'm 50, which is apparently when gastrointestinal issues start developing. I would not recommend Dr. Dasari especially if you are younger than 50. This was by far the most unprofessional and unproductive experience I have ever had with a healthcare provider. I ended up seeing another gastroenterologist after. I felt heard and was not neglected. I was diagnosed with IBS and I was also given tests to determine my food allergies and was able to confirm all of my questions. Now that I got the proper diagnosis, I am now able to treat it at a younger age and know what to do to prevent potential future health issues to myself.

Next I go for upper and lower GI. They took biopsies. Then x-rays of my stomach. That was 2 weeks ago. No one has called with results. I called this morning and asked if I was suppose to follow up? They said a nurse would call me today. Being that I am never sick, I didn't know results took so long. A friend told me her mother had biopsies done in Paris, TX, and received the results the next day. Well this is Dallas so I guess they are behind. The longest 2 weeks of my life. I had to reach out to them every time about my prescription and they returned the call either that day or the next. I am not sure if these doctors are required to take a medical oath but common courtesy goes along way. If you choose to be treated like a number, this is your place. I felt on my first visit I was going to be taken care of. Even my female intuition had me comfortable. But once you leave, it's self serve. Now I have to wait another week to see my primary care doctor. He will have to give me another referral. Due to HIPPA, (lol) I can't tell you my issues, but my blood work didn't come out well. The prescription is not working at all, and no one basically cares. It leaves me stranded. Second opinion needed for sure. And in the mean time, trust me ~ I have no reason to lie, I am sick and needed help. Still waiting on my return call........ ZERO STARS IF I HAD A CHOICE. We all make choices and in "my opinion only" about the above issues, it was a choice by referral. Speaking with him about conditions or medical topics leaves me more confident about the issue, rather than confused (as can be easy if a doctor doesn't explain well). He was my PCP in Dallas for years, and still would be if I hadn't have moved to Virginia. When I move back, I will definitely start seeing him again for primary care. First, my gripe of all gripes regarding doctors; there was literally one other patient in the office and yet it took almost 35 minutes for me to see the doctor AFTER I was all registered and done with the paperwork. Almost a full hour after my appointment time! My primary doctor is a very well known doctor in Dallas and has been in business for many more years than Dr Leslie, so he has a patient list that is probably 3x the size of Dr Leslie's. But I never have had to wait there as long as I did in Dr Leslie's office, especially when there is no one else there! To top it off, I did not care for his manner as it seemed I was taking him away from something for the total of 8-10 minutes I spoke with him. Five of which was spent with him just reading to me all the info I had JUST filled out in the waiting area. I assumed he had looked that over before he came in to see me, but as it turned out that was the first time he was looking at it. What had he been doing this whole time? Now, I realize doctors do other things between patient visits and such. I just had the distinct impression that as slow as this office was, if I were to walk around and look at 3 or 4 computer monitors in that office, I would see a lot of solitaire, facebook, travel websites and online poker. I have only been one time and everyone is entitled to a bad day. It just didn't seem as though anyone other than the front desk person (can't remember her name but VERY nice) was doing anything but trying to get a paycheck and do as little else as was necessary. Maybe if you have chronic respiratory problems like emphasema or something, then Dr Leslie warms-up and you become a "regular" and the atmospere is better. But if you're here looking into sleep apnea, don't waste your time or at least don't have high expectations.
