Floors of amazing shopping with food halls, home wear, apparel and all the designer stores you can think of. Well that's the most common one. Then you have all the smaller pop ups scattered through out the city. The location at terminal 5 London Heathrow has nothing compared to the original....lol... it's your usual pop up that tends to cater to the last minute shoppers needing a gift. This store carries your usual tourist gifts that is fast and simple. Chocolate, teddy bears, of course the tote bag and lots of trinkets. Things that catches holiday maker eyes. Small concert at the airport for all your friends and family last minute gifts from London.

Even just getting a taste of Harrods, I can see why people love this posh department store. I checked out Harrods before catching my flight and was happy to see all the merchandise they had, especially since it's just an airport location, so the inventory is limited. But it was nice to see the designers they offered here, and since I love Tory Burch, they had an entire section just for Tory Burch. The staff were super friendly and even told me what products would be cheaper to get back home versus in London, so it wasn't all about them making money. I ended up getting a Tory Burch card wallet and they escorted me to the other section of Harrods where they offered more of their gift items. This was perfect as I was able to get some gifts for loved ones. Glad I was able to get a glimpse of Harrods, a London specialty.

This time though, on a Sunday before Christmas, it was open so we finally were able to cross the threshold! The downstairs is a bit like a timewarp - 1980s M&S, but with a small haberdashery by the door. I didn't linger here at all and popped upstairs, and I was much more impressed! There's a decent kitchen section, and I bought a relatively hard-to-find 7" springform pan, of a decent weight, for only about £7. I also picked up some reed diffusers - half price for a pack of 3 by Wax Lyrical, bargain. But where the store really shines is in its toy section. I could barely drag my husband away from the wall of Lego, the row of Funko, and just the general toys. This is definitely where I will be going from now on when I shop for my niece and nephew - and I will totally be cementing my place as the best auntie ever, because the range and quality here is just great.

Down stairs is ladies wear, knitting yarn, slippers etc but upstairs is the most wonderful toy department. This shop seems to specialise in quality toys including lego, Thomas the Tank, Playmobil and Sylvanian Families. It's the perfect place to visit if buying presents for young children as the selection is huge. There seem to be quite a number of educational toys and there are end of lines that are greatly reduced. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. A lovely shop to browse in

Still, try as I do, and I do try, I can never find anything to spend my money on in this House of Fraser. I don't think that it helps that the old girl is looking a little tired, and rough around the edges. A lick of paint on the outside to spruce it up a bit wouldn't go amiss either. I suppose I have been spoilt by the genius of Selfridges, but I do come to expect a bit of sparkle in order for me to part with my hard earned money. If there is anywhere that I will spend my cash, it is at the makeup counter, but alas, there was no Mac here (travesty!), and so I moved onto the other floors. To be fair, there are quite a few women's labels that I like the look of, like 7 For All Mankind, Diesel and All Saints, but generally, I was a little uninspired. I don't want to come across as a permanently disgruntled shopper, but I like to see a little theatre to my department stores. Good lighting and well thought out decor can make all the difference to a shoppers experience. I think that they need to have a bit of a refurb here before I think about switching my allegiance from Selfridges.

House of Fraser, Richmond Lancôme beauty counter…read more http://citychiclifestyle.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/house-of-fraser-richmond-lancome-beauty.html Talk about bad service! Here it was just downright rude! I am amazed at the lack of professionalism of the sales girl there. I went in there today to buy a bronzer and of course headed to the Lancôme counter as their bronzer has been featured in some magazines and I wanted to try it. So for starters, I asked her to try the bronzer on my face so she just handed me the mirror and walked away. Then, after trying the colour on my face, I tried to see if I can apply it with the brush and the salesgirl almost shouted at me that I was doing it wrong! OMG! Aren't they supposed to apply it and help you? I asked her very politely would she show me how to apply it so she grabbed it from me and applied it on her hand, looking very annoyed! Oh and walked off! This was a classic example of good product not being sold because of a bad salesgirl! After a good experience at their Chanel counter, this was a shock. Never going to Lancôme there again!
