Ede and Ravenscroft is one of those shops that really belongs in Oxford. It's a little glimpse into…read morethe past and into the world of esteemed traditional businessmen. I reckon most people who go in are just curious at the idea of a traditional tailors, and it's a refreshingly quiet change to similar shops in London. It specialises in menswear, but I've had a browse around for cufflinks and ties as presents for male friends and family members. Unfortunately for me, the price is high for such quality products, so I remain an admiring window shopper. There is a 10% discount for students, so it's a good place for interview or internship clothes, or even for sub-fusc, if you want quality clothes that will last. It also caters for academics, legal professions and even clerical outfits. You can treat it as a normal shop or get professionally measured and have clothes tailor-made. Great fun to browse around, but definitely not an everyday shop.

As part of the Ede & Ravenscroft tailoring house in London's Old Burlington Street, not only does the Oxford shop offer ready-made suits, sweaters, ties, shirts and accessories, they are also able to deliver custom-made shirts and suits and to my knowledge -at least until recently- had a tailor coming in for bespoke clothes. The choice of clothes and formal wear is quite remarkable for a small city like Oxford, and with quite a few well-off kids joining the local university each year, there definitely is demand for a shop like E & R. They do provide a great variety of dinner suits, and since every student at Oxford University at some point during his university life requires a dinner suit, this would be my recommended place to get it from. And students even get a 10 percent discount (at least they got it during my student time).

While I found the service to be a little bit dismissive at times, I couldn't argue with the quality of the clothes on offer. Unsurprisingly, such quality does bring with it a very hefty price tag, befitting the designs available. As I sought to become a real man with the purchase of a suit, I was put off by the £200 price tag attached. I'm not saying it isn't worth it, I am sure it is. However, such prices are just too rich for my blood.

Trumper products, including all the necessary shaving creams, brushes, razors, props, colognes, hair pomades, and so forth. The wall is decorated with hand mirrors, and natural sponges sit in a jar. Over by the counter there is a cabinet with vintage and new men's jewellery, such as gilt and mother-of-peal cufflinks. The rear of the shop is largely dedicated to clothing, millinery and other accessories. It's lovely stuff, the shop is put together very nicely, with a good eye and a coherent general aesthetic, which is traditional but still cool. The shop keeper likes to chat, and in such a small space if you aren't happy with that you might feel uncomfortable, but I would definitely recommend checking Paul Clark out. If you have a bit of cash this is a great place to find some swish goodies for yourself or the man in your life.

Floors of amazing shopping with food halls, home wear, apparel and all the designer stores you can think of. Well that's the most common one. Even just getting a taste of Harrods, I can see why people love this posh department store. I checked out Harrods before catching my flight and was happy to see all the merchandise they had, especially since it's just an airport location, so the inventory is limited. But it was nice to see the designers they offered here, and since I love Tory Burch, they had an entire section just for Tory Burch. The staff were super friendly and even told me what products would be cheaper to get back home versus in London, so it wasn't all about them making money. I ended up getting a Tory Burch card wallet and they escorted me to the other section of Harrods where they offered more of their gift items. This was perfect as I was able to get some gifts for loved ones. Glad I was able to get a glimpse of Harrods, a London specialty.
