The transformation of the area is fantastic but I truly think that we need less Estate Agents and more boutiques. I truly love my fashion, specially having studied Business Fashion Management in the London College of Fashion. I have purchased a couple of items from Mrs Robinson Boutique and unfortunately a friend of mine, having visited me on the area, also decided to buy a pair of shoes. Within a few weeks of having them, they broke and they basically told her that there is absolutely nothing that could be done about it as there had been no other complaints. It was truly unbelievable and the man who runs the shop (bold unfriendly individual) was not pleasant at all. I have not bought anything else ever since and I will not do so either as the competition is high and they should know that. My opinion on Mrs Robinson's Boutique is as follows : - They have not got customer service skills and this is vital when facing the public - The fashion buyer does bring some interesting pieces but quite over priced, therefore, in my opinion - Not good value for money as you don't get the shopping experience incorporated to it. - They should also know that good after sales service is imperative and they truly do not offer that as a matter of fact is pretty much, once you have bought it, if something does go wrong, it is the customer's problem. Now I just truly hope that more new fashion independent boutiques come to the area and Mrs Robinson's boutique learns the lesson.

While Dulwich Village is pristinely well kept and wealthy, Aqua is about as much tack as you can fit into one shop. The buyer here must have gone a little crazy. The shop is absolutely packed full of jewellery, watches, chopping boards, bags, shoes, toys, photo frames, gifts. Practically everything! So much so that it is totally overwhelming and poorly displayed. Upstairs there is a room entirely dedicated to their questionable selection of women's clothing. Finding my way through all the rails I did find the odd decent piece of clothing along with many absolutely hideous pieces that must have been sitting on the same rail for at least ten years. I can safely say that this is not my shop and unless my unicorn goes of course and gallops straight into Aqua, I will not be in here again.

But for some reason I cannot get excited by it. Maybe it is that the shop is rather too polished making it feel more like a high street shop trying to be a boutique. Normally however, they bring out exactly what I asked for. This may just be luck but it works for me all the same. The shop is small and rather old fashioned selling a range of paper, stationary, paint, canvas' and art supplies. The same man has been working here for all the time that I have been going to the shop and is very well informed and helpful. Expect to pay slightly more than you would in larger art and stationary shops, but for the ease and practicality of shopping here, it is well worth the extra pound or two.

This is not just a children's shop, it is however, very popular as an after school outing, so best to avoid these times. Ignoring my reservations, I held onto it while I perused what the rest of the shop had to offer. It had cute little knick knacks of all sorts - cards, lipstick holds, keychains, purses. I took a photo of the jewellery display. Then I went to the back of the shop and found loads of overpriced ugly clothes that only a wicked witch or a sexless spinster would wear and I took a picture of them. 'Excuse me, no more pictures please!' said a woman behind the counter that I did not even recognise existed until that very moment because she did not bother to greet me when I came into the store as she was picking her cuticles and developing blisters on her buttocks from sitting on her ass for so long embracing indolence with all of her being. This is another of those shops perfect for buying presents in as everything is beautiful but nothing extortionately priced. I love looking around this shop, it is always fantastically well stocked and in the front window you will find the notice board of Dulwich with loads of information on what is going on, contact details for dance classes and piano teachers, room mates wanted and so on. If you like little independent boutique shops selling a bit of everything, then Tomlinsons is perfect.
