Big store, underwhelming selection. Everything was monochromatic and dull. Not too much in terms of bold colors, exciting prints or daring patterns. Everything seemed to simply say, "I'm dressed". I do like the lightweight, water resistant jackets though. They compress to take up minimal space, but are supposedly warm enough for a London winter. Not sure how they'll stand up to the gale-force winds we've been getting though. read more

Ahead of the new UNIQLO store opening in my home town of Manchester (which has now opened as of today), I visited this branch on Oxford Street in London at the start of April 2019, this is the larger of the two UNIQLO branches, and probably the better store they have on Oxford Street. This store is UNIQLO's flagship and to a degree, it renders the store right at the other end of the street (around half a mile away) useless. The store is bright, modern and stands out well, with modern features and the red promotional writing throughout the store, you feel to a degree also that you are in Tokyo, with UNIQLO being a huge brand over there as a Japanese clothing retailer. There wasn't much staff on the shop floor, perhaps the biggest downfall but the environment of the store was pretty cool, and they had a nice range of products too, including some decent offers, at times it would have been helpful for the store to show more information about the products, for example, what other than the style is unique, one doesn't see many Japanese retailers on the UK high street so they have kind of missed a trick here. A high three-star rating as this store isn't bad at all, but I sadly don't feel it deserves much higher. read more

It's amazing what a new promotional campaign can do for you brand. Uniqlo has been around on Oxford Street for ages but no one really used to know about it. I personally referred to it as "that store with the cashmere sweaters". It was a nice store but lacked inspiration and a concept. Now bring in a new look, the hit Dazed & Confused photographer Matt Irwin, artist collarborations, and lots of new London stores and you have got yourself a brand new youthful brand. You gotta hand it to them. They did well. Personally, I like Uniqlo. They have many good quality items that are sure to last a long time. Apart from some obvious exceptions I must admit I find the women's clothing a bit bland, but the men's section is very good. They have a great selection of cotton and flannel fitted shirts, macs, gloves, and cheap jeans. Unlike many high-street stores, Uniqlo always has the decency to offer some very good quality materials at an affordable price. This makes them a very refreshing high-street option which has won over my approval. read more

Over priced and terrible quality. Moreover, customer care is only lip service. I bought an ultra light down jacket in Nov, and by Jan , it had water stains that refused to go despite following *limited* instructions on the website, and from the store staff upon two visits to the store. I was told it could be exchanged, but obviously the case was different when I wrote the online customer care.They deemed the water stains as a result of wear and tear ,and refused to provide any solution. Seems to be the American Apparel of London. I noticed lots of affordable tees, sweatshirts, etc. However, the real winner at Uniqlo...the jeans! It's a great big shop, filled with inexpensive slightly trendy colourful clothes. It's slightly more grown up than H&M or Top Shop, selling standard v-neck jumpers, cardis, tees and more. You can't beat the price on jeans... a mere £24.99. They're practically disposable. Most of the time, low prices come at a cost to quality, but so far I have seen no evidence of this. My boyfriend has a v-neck jumper which has been in the washing machine time and time again and it still looks brand new. The greatest thing about this shop is, when you find something that fits, you can buy it in 20 different colours and you still haven't even grazed the sides of your pocketbook. Awesome prices, this store is lacking a bit in selection though, and a lot of the items sell so quickly you'll only have one size to choose from (and Murphy's Law will make sure it's not yours, oh, cruel world). Tons of jeans (up to 32") and stockings too for the ladies. A note: The Mickey Mouse shit is weird. Uniqlo is not really my thing. Their clothes just do not fit my figure. I was intrigued, however, recently and went to an event organised in cooperation with the Stylist. Not only did it offer some discounts, drinks and nibbles but I discovered the men's collection. I just wanted another drink and discovered the downstairs men's. When my boyfriend visited recently, I took him to Selfridges where we visited the men's. Uniqlo had lovely shirts on offer for 14.90. He tried and we took one. The next day he asked me to visit another, bigger store so we went to the flagship on Oxford Street. Let's make it short, we left with three shirts, two pullovers and several longsleeves. What a curious company this is. They sort of remind me of Gap. However, they are a lot cheaper. They sort of remind me of Abercrombie & Fitch. However, a lot more bright lighting going on, and a hell of a lot cheaper. So, if you have not been here before you probably get the picture of what they sell. Many different types of T-shirts, shirts, underwear, socks, jackets, in various (yet not too outlandish) colours. The staff here all seem friendly enough, but they seem to lack a lot of personality & the stores do seem a little bland and lacking individuality. What I will say for them, is that the fabrics here do seem very soft. The cottons and mixes feel particularly nice. They will never win any prizes for high-fashion nor innovative design but if you want good value for money understated clothing, this is a great place to come. read more

Since the start of last Summer, I'm not sure another shop has taken more money out of me. Not unless you count Ann Summers for all my sexy nurses outfits... Which I don't. This for me is where I buy 95% of my clothes. So, to get the Orme look... er... look no further. The prices are super competitive. You can pick up some sweet Japanese cut denim for about £25. T-shirts are about 10 squirrels and shirts are about 15. It's also really top quality material. The shirt I am currently wearing is soft and an absolute joy to wear. When any of my Uniqlo stuff is in need of a wash, I'm always a little sad because it means I won't be able to have it at my disposal for at least 24 hours. The wait is worth it though. The staff at the Oxford street store are helpful and pleasant and for me it's important because if you are male and it's busy, you have more chance of breaking down, adopting the foetal position and crying rather than actually finding the item you went in to get. This is one of my favorite stores that is not in the US. Well...not on the West Coast of the U.S. I love their basic wardrobe pieces and everything is just so comfortable. I'm used to the Japanese sizing (since it's a Japanese company) so finding sizes wasn't too hard. So it's probably not a surprise to all my friends who know about my love for Japanese culture/fashion that this was really the only clothing store I went to in London to do some serious shopping. I picked up a fabulous fleece jacket since London was FREEZING to this California girl (the beginning of a cold snap!) and I needed something to keep me warm as the bf and I were traveling uber light. Having been closed for a bit for a huge refurbishment, the flagship Uniqlo on Oxford Street re-opened last Friday. This was also the day their Liberty collaboration launched. While there were apparently queues at 8am, I popped along about 11 and was pleasantly surprised by the management of people. They had loads of staff on - though some seemed completely out-of-touch with what was happening around them - the tables, shelves, and rails were being constantly replenished. I found a pretty Liberty dress I liked, but my size wasn't on the floor, and a helpful member of staff found me one from the stockroom. The staff working the cash wrap area were almost entirely people for whom English wasn't a first, or necessarily very strong, language. I have no problem with multi-lingual folks, but on a big day which was bound to be busy it would've made checking out easier if at least one person at the registers had a firmer grasp on the language. So. 1st visit of the relaunched store all in I give a 4. We'll see if it gets better or worse as the store wears in a bit. read more

One word: Colourful. More words: They are a mixture of Gap, H&M and American Apparel in my view. A lot cheaper though. Their clothes have a good quality feel to it and some are quirky designs. I mostly got underwear, sock and t-shirts from here. No complaints. read more

Love the new improved, larger store. 5 floors of uniqlo - my favorite jackets. I find them very warm, practical, lightweight and comfortable. They have a large clothing section too now, but the clothes on offer were very summery, while the weather outside was just 2degrees this evening. Not really conducive to buying sundresses in Liberty prints, no matter how lovely and colourful the prints are. The ground floor cash register tends to have a very long line for billing. Just go up or down a flight of stairs for faster billing. read more

Great basic fashions for women and men. A Japanese brand that's like a Gap or American Apparel, but better. Jeans are comfy and their lycra underwear is the best. I picked up 2 pair of boy shorts for 9.90 pounds when I ran out while on vacation. I had to go back for more, because I liked them that much. Uniqlo claims to be sophisticated and unique but this Japanese designer, manufacturer, and retailer simply delivers cheap clothing to the masses. It is what it is...I know there is a niche and they have very loyal followers. I have seen the crowds in the stores in other countries. I needed a coat warmer than the one I packed and an inexpensive light-weight jacket will fit the bill. I thought I would make my first Uniqlo purchase. The store was a partial mess due to the crowds and stacks of mass-merchandising. The associates where busy trying to keep-up with restocking and fitting room put-awaits but no one is on the sales floor to assist. The line for the fitting room was a mile long and there was hardly any mirrors located in the floor. I shared a mirror with several other ladies in the same situation. The cashier was in a hurry because she was late for her break. I will now need to go to another store to remedy the problem. The store delivered what I expected but they need to add more fitting rooms, cashiers, and sales associates to assist the customers. For basics, it's hard to beat Japanese chain Uniqlo. They sell very reasonably priced t-shirts, knitwear and jeans in a reasonable selection of sizes. In winter they sell some beautiful cashmere items in a myriad of colours, and I have been coveting a down jacket from there for some time. There is always a sale rack which can throw up some bargains and their selection of t-shirts is quite astounding. I have only 2 minor quibbles about this shop, rather than this particular store - they don't get enough larger sizes in stock and when will a branch open in Glasgow? read more

False advertising and staff dont care. Visited the Oxford store to purchase pair of jeans, paid full price for one but another pair on sale where advertised T £4.90 however at the till was changed £19.99, the Cashier and people in the branch confirmed they should be £4.90 but could do anything and i would have to pay the £19.99 and nothing hey could do, thy juts didn't care. I don't usually shop in Uniqlo the clothes are kind of samey, samey, but guaranteed to have multiple colours/patterns of many of the items. They're pretty much known for their down jackets you see lots of people wearing every Winter. I never brought anything in there apart from the basics on two rare occasions. But if this is your thang this branch has several floors to experience. My second experience there wasn't very negitive. I just popped in to buy some legging and looked around a bit to see if there's anything else I wanted to buy. When I had questions about the clothes I found none of the staff actually knew the answers, I spent a lot of time waiting around while the staff did a Mexican Wave asking each staff member in turn the same question. Alas this happened a few times so I finally gave up trying to buy something else and went directly to the fitting room to try on my leggings. However, I was told that I couldn't try the packaged ones I would have to try a display one which was a different colour and pattern. Apparently the staff find it difficult to put the leggings back in the simple packaging afterwards. I gave in and tried the display but quickly found it was so drastically different to the ones I wanted to buy, there was no point, I needed to try on the packaged ones. For the next 15 minutes I patiently explained this to the staff who didn't quite understand, so I had to wait for the manager to come over so I could explain it all over again...she finally agreed! I tried it on and brought it but will never shop there again. For a quick pop in visit during a quiet period it was a huge struggle with staff and took far too long. I don't see the point in them selling clothes that you can't actually try on! Hopefully other 's will have a better experience than me and this was just a one off. read more

Great place to get some cheap clothing, go for either muted stylishly crafted silhouettes or loud and proud logo tshirts, the best UT tshirts being barbie and harry potter or neon geneis evangelion. They always have some sort of disney tie in which is nice to see. read more

I walked past UNIQLO many a time but once I ventured inside, I had to confess to being very impressed. I've always had trouble finding clothes. Being extremely fussy and is partially responsible but mostly I resent having to pay scandalous amounts of money for clothes that usually fall apart after a few months. UNIQLO's casual clothing is durable, affordable and, more to the point, comfortable. I usually wear a hole in a pair of jeans in a couple of months and my first pair of UNIQLO jeans that I bought a year ago are still utterly devoid of holes. And It's very nice to be able to wear clothes that are considered fashionable without feeling uncomfortable in them. UNIQLO has gone from a store I used to overlook to the first place I go to. I urge anyone who has found themselves nodding to themselves and going "That's me" while reading this review to visit UNIQLO's website (http:///www.uniqlo.co.uk) to get a sense of what they offer. I left them under the bed in a Parisian hotel and I didn't bother calling about it (how convenient now that I remember 2 years later... those shirts might not even fit me). Uniqlo is a great place to get well made basics, such as t-shirts, knitwear jeans and shirts at a reasonable price. Everything is laid out clearly in this store, you can pretty much walk in and find what you want. I like the fact they have nice knitwear, mainly merino wool and cotton, for under £20 and they also do a student discount. You won't really find any high fashion items, but you can pick up some everyday bits which never go out of fashion, to complement your more trendy pieces. read more

This store caught my eye while shopping in London. I had never heard of it before but had to take a peek inside. If you are from the US, a comparable clothing store would be J. Crew, with less sparkle and prints. They have basics in every color you can imagine and all are classic looks similar to J. Crew. However, one main difference between J. Crew and Uniqlo is that Uniqlo is extremely affordable. I just bought two pairs of colored skinny cords for 20 pounds each! So give or take about $40 a pair, which is AMAZING for a nice pair of pants. I highly recommend this store to anyone in need of some nice and inexpensive basics to throw into your wardrobe. read more

Had I not sent this email, Uniqlo would not even know if they fulfilled the order and delivered to the customer successfully. Uniqlo service is bad. Started with a four star rating as they generally offer reasonable off the peg clothing at a remarkable price. However, their delivery service needs some attention. For a premium you can buy quicker delivery. Do not rely on this as it can fail. Should it fail they will, as a courtesy, offer you a free return service rather than an apology. I am 68 yrs old. This year because of trying to get my diabetes 2 under control I have deliberately lost more than 20 Kg in weight, I was 93 kg in January and am now 70 kg in December. My diabetes in well under control! As a consequence I was feeling the cold, even in my house with the heating on I was wearing a body warmer. Then I saw the Uniqlo Heatec advert and thought i would try their long-sleeve roll neck vests, they were discounted from £14.90 to £7.90 and there was free postage. So I placed an order and 2 days later it arrived. I am just amazed... the vests are keeping me so warm it is amazing how such a fine fabric can keep the body warmth in - remember I have lost a large amount of internal insulation. They feel just like what I imagine silk would feel like, never actually having worn silk myself. The website service worked, their parcel tracking and e-mail notification worked. I shall be shopping with them again and from my initial experience I recommend them highly read more

I've been a regular shopper at UNIQLO KINGSTON UPON THAMES for a few years now, for lowish priced clothes though not always best quality, you get what you pay for, so I've continued to shop there. However, I've just had the most UNHELPFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE I've had anywhere in a long time. I was given a white polo shirt as part of a birthday present 2 weeks ago and it was too small so I went in to change it with price tags completely in tact, but without the receipt which I accidentally left behind. The larger size was not available so I chose another item for the same price plus another top and went to pay. The assistant checked the polo shirt, pointed to some make-up stains and said he could not take it back. Not only do I never wear make-up I don't actually even own any, also the person who bought me the polo shirt would also not have tried it on as she's at least 3 sizes smaller than me and there would have been no point! I of course completely understand that they don't know me from a piece of dried fruit, but having explained this to the assistant and the store manager in the politest possible way they shrugged and said 'Sorry there's nothing I can do I can't exchange it as we wouldn't be able to sell it in this state". The irony is that they did indeed sell it in that state, to my poor partner! SHAME ON YOU UNIQLO KINGSTON UPON THAMES either make sure you check your products before putting them out for sale to unsuspecting customers, OR take the hit and put it down to goodwill...worth so much more that letting a loyal customer go off knowing you don't give a damn for them. read more
