Well, what is to say about Drake's ?…read more The brand founded by tie guru Michael Drake just opened a new (flagship ?) store in Clifford Street. Once famous for their high-quality cashmere and wool ties, the branch recently branched out into other aspects of menswear. Their ties are undisputably of high quality, and Drake's have a nice choice of non-silk ties (i.e. wool, wool-silk blend and cashmere) ties as well as bow ties and handkerchiefs. However, for some reason, Drake's ties seem to lack the understated elegance that you so often see in Italian wool and cashmere ties, and the colours and patterns are often much to bold or strange for my taste. A lot of the Drake's ties are fairly narrow (8 cm) and they sell a broad range of even narrower 7 cm ties. This may be quite en vogue at the moment, but the tie width clearly deviates from what one would consider a classic shape. Drake's have recently started selling a whole range of menswear items including jackets and shirts that are similarly high-quality items, but again not necessarily what you would consider "classic" menswear - which is surprising since a lot of style savants highly recommend their products. The selling prices for Drake's ties are slightly above 100 GBP which seems reasonable for their high quality, but most of their other menswear items are in my opinion (sometimes highly) overpriced. Ties - aye, other producs - nay !

This is the best shop in London for you're looking for decent quality British made woven silk ties…read more I would seriously recommend Drake's when it comes to ties. Drake's ties are hand made in Clerkenwell, London. The manager of Drake's used to work for Emma Willis in Jermyn Street. Drake's are right next door to Richard James. As of early 2012, the former retail manager from T Fox & Co in Moorgate, the most unique umbrella store in the City, now works for Drake's again as retail manager. And also this retail manager reminds me of Christophe Waltz from Tarantino's, Dejango Unchained (2013) whilst the actor himself was signing autographs at the Empire Cinema in Leicester Square during the film premiere event of Dejango Unchained

One of those brands that everyone thinks is cool and then remembers that it isn't really anymore…read more It's all in the name I think because it's definitely not the clothes. Camouflage and baggy snow pants are a bit over, The All Saints are all old and fat and everyone has kind of moved on, apart from Maharishi that is. There is something so desperately try hard about the camo vending machines in the lobby of the store, vending, yep, you guessed it, Japanese toys. The same goes for the lone skateboard under a clothes rail as if management have tried to persuade the disillusioned staff to skate around the shop when its quiet (often) to put some cool credentials back into the brand. Maharishi peaked early and their empty store on floral street is the sad scene of their decline. Like many street wear brands, they got away with charging too much for t-shirts for years and have now been harshly discarded in favour of whatever Kanye West is wearing this week.

If your partial to a bit of clothes shopping then Maharishi is the one to take care of your…read moreDesigner label needs at an affordable price. They cater for both men and women but more of a selection for men i will say. You might go in there one day and see stars such as Dizzee Rascal and Sway buying some exclusive clothing. With freindly staff, grimey music in the background and affordable clothes, then i highly recommend you pay the shop a visit, even if your looking around, its an experience in itself.
