"Have you been to COS?" I questioned my BFF over lunch at nearby NOPI. After explaining that H&M's sophisticated, higher end sister was my European go-to and still not available in the States, it became clear I had to take her there. Opened in March 2007, the Regent Street location is London's first Collection of Style (COS). Whilst I still haven't properly figured out their sizing (I consistently have to take two of every item into the fitting room to get it right), I continue to love COS - particularly for dresses and accessories. At the moment about half the store is on sale so it's a nice to time to get your Nordic fashion fix. Neon lovers: orange is figuring prominently in a lot of the current collection. I stuck to more muted tones with my purchases but I admire ladies who can rock super brights. My BFF picked up a terrific large checked scarf (as well as an oatmeal coloured rolled hem jumper for her boyfriend.) I spotted a blue/grey leather colour block clutch that I very nearly bought to avoid trying to DIY my own. Given I'm still thinking about it, I'll probably have to go back and fetch it at some point. There are plenty of basics here but if you desire to be more daring, they've got that too. Think coated linen sculptured dresses, glued seams, waxed linen shrunken shirts, bold statement necklaces. COS may well be the only store in London I can't manage to leave empty handed. read more

Cos rhymes with classic cool. It aims to take some very good natural quality materials and design them into timeless, simple but tasteful, Marni-esque designs. It is hard to guess that this store is even remotely related to the giant Swedish chain H&M. Best in store is the little black dress. It comes in different lengths and designs but always aims to impress. I do like Cos, and I feel like I will be shopping there a lot... in a couple of years. I feel like this store is a bit too 'grown up' at times and I plan to take advantage of my freedom to wear 'silly' clothes for as longs as I can. read more

The clothes here are really well made. The chunky knit jumpers are priced between £50 - £60 and look as though they would last you a life time. They sell suits and dresses, as well as leather ipod holders and silver dog tags! My favourite item would be a black patent bag, but a little pricey at £150, although like the jumpers it looked as though it would last forever. I will always think of this clothes shop as amazing for the simple fact that they sell Nouvelle Vague's album, which is my favourite band. read more

It'll be a GD happy day when we get a COS in the US of A. (What did I even just say here, anyway?) From the folks behind H&M, this place rocked my face off when I was in London last March. Think 'Banana Republic' but with a European twist. I got a fantastic black pleated top here that I'll probably be wearing until the end of time. It's fashionable and well made, as were the other items I inspected upon my visit. One thing: Don't go in here expecting wild colors and prints. The color palette tends to be somewhat muted and subdued. Lots of classics and some interesting cuts- definitely pop in when you're in the 'hood. read more

I love COS (Collection of Style). Yes, I can't believe they're in the same family with H&M either. It's friggin' nothing like H&M. With that said, this is my least favorite COS shop in all of Europe. They have the largest selection for men's apparel, but they have the absolute worst customer service. Indifferent staff means I will take my business elsewhere. BTW, there is a COS shop on Regent so I'm not quite sure why the remarks about its closure. read more

Cos, on London's Regent Street just next door to Liberty occupies a permanent place on my go-to list when clothes shopping in the capital. The more sophisticated sister store of Swedish retail giant H&M, Cos specialises in slightly avant garde basics made out of luxurious natural fibres such as silk, cashmere, wool and cotton and is the high street's best kept secret. Being a bit of a fabric purist, Cos is one of my favourite shops. In fact I'd wager a guess that the chances of finding anything in poly-blend in this shop would be slim to none. My best buys from this chic shop include their mulberry silk t-shirts and vests, their endlessly inventive takes on the little black dress and knitwear in chunky wool and cashmere which simply does not date. Cos is like an H&M greatest hits. A shop filled with the kind of H&M pieces you see in the magazines that never seem to make it to the shop floor; the pieces you'll have in your wardrobe for year upon year to come. read more

Amazing, amazing, amazing. This shop is a regular hidden gem, producing classic clothes with a minimalist Nordic twist: so you'll find a shirt in high-quality cotton, but cropped to the waist and with a masculine pocket. It's little details like these that make Cos a go-to shop for stylish, sleek officewear that isn't boring or plain (I'm looking at you, Banana Republic). Cos just screams quiet high-end luxury, even if their prices are much lower than you might think. In fact, I'd wager that a dress from Cos would hurt your wallet a lot less than a similar dress from TopShop, and would probably see you through the fashion seasons a lot longer. I also love what Cos as a brand embodies: Cos isn't about getting your disposable fashion fix, it's about buying pieces that can last you for the rest of your life. Cos has pretty much cornered the market on a high-street Jil Sander. Given the current vogue for clean, minimalist fashion, I wouldn't be surprised if Cos blows up big-time and becomes more than just a savvy fashion editor's secret go-to shop. (Big tip: I love their lingerie, especially the soft-cup bras - no unnecessary frills or simpering ruffles, just simple and oh-so-sexy. Probably one of the best examples of a high-street store lingerie line.) read more

Perhaps I visited Cos during an off-season, because I found the clothes to be overpriced and uninspiring. With everything arranged according to colour, shopping should have been a breeze, with my attention pulled in one direction or another based on personal preference, but the sales floor resembled shades of grey accented by a lifeless coral here and a weak yellow there. Let's just say I wandered dizzyingly between ashen-looking mannequins and hoards of customers who seemed to love them. I don't mean to be the malcontent in this little cyber space, but with the fashion of the cuts just left of centre I found the clothing not appropriate to purchase for reliable basics nor did I feel it was particularly provocative for seasonal accent pieces. read more

I don't know whether this shop looks like me or I look like the shop, either way we are identical in our every sense of style, taste and designs. I absolutely love this store and could easily fill my entire wardrobe with Cos. This store has really find a gap from the markets, and is filling it now with business idea of high-end materials and designs combined with high- street prices. I know you think you have heard this story already, but no, this quality is real. They mainly use only natural fibers so most of the clothes are made from 100% silk, wool or cashmere. The sales assistant kindly explained to me that the cashmere is taken from the coats neck, that is the most finest and expensive part of the fur and the same that only the luxury design labels use. The high quality together with the timeless designs with some twist, spotless trim and tailoring, I am a fan. read more

To balance the views of the women above I have to write about this store on Regent Street in regards to the men. Typically pushed onto the first floor, us guys have to trek up the stairs to see the garments on offer here, but once up there you will see a wide range of high quality suits, shirts and accessories. I recently managed to find a really simple black shirt, harder than it sounds nowadays, which was so stylish and soft i can't stop wearing it. Whilst at the counter i was also tempted by a nice bag. Cost wise it is greater than it's cheaper little sis h&m but you've got to grow up at some point and anyone over 26 who is looking for simple but brilliantly made gear could do a lot worse than here. Staff are polite and efficient too which is always a bonus and somewhat of a rarity nowadays. One point, I've stated that this place is wheelchair accessible and that is certainly true for the ladies downstairs though without any visible sign of a lift or escalator it may be quite difficult for anyone looking to purchase from the men's section. read more

This is H&M for grown ups...new store on Regent Street with good stylish contemporary yet classic pieces. Great jackets and little dresses, decent fabrics and much better cuts than the clothing you find at its sister company. Cos is more expensive than H&M but the quality is worth the difference. Not as fashionable as Topshop, but probably better if you are looking for more long lasting purchases. Still early days, will reserve full judgement after a couple of collections. read more

I bought 3 pieces of different jewellery from the store in Bahrain. When I returned home in England, within 2 weeks the bracelet had broken, the necklace had turned black (originally a gold colour) and had lost one of the earrings due to its weight and not staying in.... I went into my local store with my receipts of purchase who told me to get in touch with customer services which I did and they insisted I call the Bahrain branch to get anything sorted.... while the jewellery wasn't particularly expensive per se, it was the principle of the matter. Why have global representation when you are not able to help (also the exact jewellery was in the uk store) - regardless of customer serviced, do not buy their jewellery, it's rubbish and looks nice but does not last (not even a month). read more

This is one of the best shops on the high street. I think the previous reviewer may have just got unlucky with the sales staff. As I have never had any problems with returns. I love COS but am in the middle of a website purchase returns nightmare! The new (to me) policy of not being able to return goods to a local store is awful! Our local postoffice has closed and I have made two attempts to go the nearest one where the lines were so long and the atmosphere so unpleasant that I couldn't wait. I've been away, am going away again tomorrow and will miss the two week returns deadline and my partner has thrown some of the original packaging away. The print on the returns label is much too small for a person over 45 to read, it didn't even occur to me that I wouldn't be able to return things to the store. I won't be buying online again (I'm returning the things because I'm not a fan of the newer fabrics). Sorry for the rant, but I'm stuck with two things I don't like and it's a total pain. read more

I love COS and their quality and have bought many items over the past three years that I still wear. Recently, I bought a white and blue stripy jumper which I washed and never were able to wear as the darker colour spread out on the lighter colour. As the jumper was unworn and new, I was surprised this happened, especially having washed it according to the care label instructions at 30%. The colours mixed slightly and the item does not look alright. The manager of the store, Cos at St Paul's was aggressive in her tone and assumed I hadn't followed instructions. When I said I had, she then assumed there was something in my washing machine. I assured her NO other item that was in the same cycle had been ruined and all other items where cream or white coloured too. Then the manager told me I did not follow instructions because I washed it with other t-shirts, and t-shirts are dirty, these were her exact words. Nowhere does it say the jumper needs to be washed on its own by the way, so she was making it up what she said as the conversation went on. I stated I was not happy and I disagreed with what she was saying. She abruptly said the item is not faulty. I just said that's her opinion and I will take this further. I want to return this item and get my money back to get something else instead. But manager refused. After asking what else I could do, she told me to google customer services number and contact them. I had to ask again and she gave me the number to COS customer services where I spoke to another person who was apologizing for the experience I had and for the ruined jumper. He offered to resolve the matter by calling the store. But when he did, no one picked up the phone. The store was open, hardly any customer inside and no one was picking up the phone while their own customer services team were trying to contact them. The caller who put me on hold suggested to me to go back to the store and ask them to pick up the phone! I said I'm not doing that! The store is open, I can seem from where I am that it's open. My complaint has been escalated now and nearly a day on no one from the said store has contacted me. Very shocked at being met by someone so unpleasant and rude. read more

Prior to travels to London, I never heard of COS. This place has great basic Euro cut with a certain finesse. I just love the styles here-very flattering. Then again I always love black clothing and this place is filled with black clothes. The sales staff are a little aloof but that's okay by me because I like to browse alone. Don't you hate it when a sales associate hovers all over you, and show you stuff they like!? If I wanted to bring a friend with me while I'm shopping, I would have! Back to the clothes... I just love line and look forward to the company's expansion in the US. When in London, this will be on my list! read more

Cos is a new concept coming from Sweden (owned by H&M), a chain with so far 10 outlets or so only across the major European capitals (London is the only one to have 2 outlets, one in regent Street and one in Westfield). They have a vast area dedicated to womenswear and a whole floor for menswear. If you like simple minimalist clothing reminiscent of APC, Agnes b, Nicole Fahri, Prada, Marc Jacobs and any Belgian designer (pretty much) then this is a place worth visiting. Mostly plain clothing with either relax loose cuts in super soft materials or much more fitted and typically slim cuts pieces (trousers et shirts in particular). This is very much 'in the trends' and kind of industrialising the looks that are spreading around the East End but also Stockholm, Berlin or Paris's Marais and East End. There is a great effort on the cuts and on minimalism, no prints really apart from a few pieces with stripes or checks (bicolor only). The problem for me is that while I like the slim fits, most pieces I tried were to short for me (trousers and shirts), but with shirts around £40-60, trousers at £50-70, t-shirts at £20-30, and many great accessories (scarfs, slim ties, shoes, great belts at very good prices and great designs), it is worth visiting if you like that kind of style. Or if you do not live in London or a European capital as the distribution is very limited. I hope that they will think of taller people as they develop their lines The womenswear is great too, in the same style but I cant comment on the sizing! read more

You'll find no tattered jean shorts here, go to H and M for that. My boyfriend raved about this place and took me in for a gander. I can appreciate the simple muted colors - blacks and greys and beiges throughout the store's fall theme. While the menswear seemed very fashionable - great material feel and cool jackets, nothing really caught my eye as for women's styles. Everything was very sophisticated and proper. If I was in my late 30's or 40's I'd probably want to come back here to gear up for the fall. Seeing as how I don't work in an office and have no need for professional office wear, I left with no bag in hand. I said to my boyfriend, "yes, we could shop here, but you know, we'd probably have to find new friends." Onwards to Top Shop then... read more

This is H&M's contemporary, classic sister. COS make beautiful minimalist, classic pieces and are definitely worth investing in as the quality is very good. However, some of their shoes and bags are quite overpriced, but the clothes are quite reasonably priced and are worth every penny. read more

I didn't go to this shop. I ordered online from COS, but I can't find anywhere to leave a review about how appalling the online ordering services has been and treated me. BEWARE! I ordered substantial amounts of clothing for a gift, the first time around the order didn't process properly, I was charged (it was over £2,000 across two orders), they took my money and then cancelled the order, it then took over a month to refund me. This was infuriating.... I then reordered (BIG MISTAKE - and this was only because the person who I had got the gift for was waiting for the clothes and I didn't want to let them down) the clothes came - it was a very mixed bag - things titled cashmere, were only a small percentage cashmere... and a lot didn't fit, so around three quarters were returned. Now... we sent them DHL because we didn't read the small print that you had to use the Post Office, and we weren't in the UK and the free postage didn't cover us.. well - apparently they can't take a parcel from DHL so the cost of flying it there, and back to us and back again was all at our expense... I understand that small print is a warning but it's hardly like we were sending it by donkey.. why they couldn't accept it is really a baffling idea.. anyway, it eventually got returned, and then no refund came.. again waited and waited and then sent a lot of emails.. and then finally they asked us what was returned. So I sent the list, even though they had the stuff and we had filled out the form.. all in all the exercise resulted in about 20 emails of communication, several calls... months while they kept hold of my money.. the clothes are ok, but the online side of things is utterly atrocious. read more
