Womens' clothing, lingerie, homewares, childrens' clothing and the cafe are on side, while the other side houses mens clothing and the food department. Having recently had a desperately needed refurbishment, this M&S now uses its' space quite well and is airy and comfortable to walk around in. Although it is a small branch of the huge chain, it has a lot to offer. The food hall has been the biggest improvement with a lot more variety available than previously and the look of the store has also been completely modernised, so visually it is all a lot more appealing now.

Definitely worth a visit especially for party bag fillers.

I think about food, ingredients and spices a lot and when I travel, I like to experience and take a little something home as a souvenir. So I came to John Lewis & Partners after a friend recommended the grocery portion as a good place to find spices. I've traveled to several countries and states where I pick up spices to use in my recipes, this means a lot more to me than some novelty t-shirt or magnet. I purchased a wide selection of spices, some which I have never tried using before. As you can see in my picture, I got quite the haul and paid around $30 euros for it all. Compared to the prices I would have paid back home, I feel that I got a great deal at John Lewis & Partners.

They do sell some nice things, but I feel that the vast quantity of shops they are opening, down grades them slightly. Saying that, I still wander in on occasions but rarely am I moved to make a purchase.

Marks & Spencer's Islington store is surely crying out for a refurb, the store has fallen to a…read moreshockingly dire and poor state to the point I can only recall seeing a store this badly forgotten in the Marks & Spencer branch elsewhere before in Rochdale, a small town in Manchester. You can enter the store two-ways through street level, one of them you enter through a box style store crowded with fashion and then a slow, small lift (or set of stairs) to get upstairs, again I can't understand why the lift is so low (there's only one) considering there is three levels the lift could go to - so if you are using the food hall I would suggest walking along the street and going in through there to save time. The selection of fresh selection in store was really bad, it was mainly pre-packaged which for a Marks & Spencer store was pretty dissapointing and uncommon for the brand, at many times it felt just like a Simply Food store. The "Services" offered by the store is also tiny, they lack a currency exchange, Cafe and more. The Food Hall area is also pretty cramped. It seems Islington has really badly fallen behind in terms of quality of stores with the only option being a Uniqlo store which is pretty good, yet still not spectacular compared to the rest of London. This store is pretty much the best of the three supermarkets in Islington centre from a food point of view and they did have a large sandwich selection (sadly gluten-free food excluded), to warrant a very generous two-star rating.

I had a corporate event nearby in Kings…read moreCross and thinking I had been very clever in ordering canapes, bubbly and snacks off the M&S website only to discover that when I arrived to pick up my order, half the items needed to be cooked and were not ready to serve..... After a mini heart attack, I quickly explained my predicament to the staff who went over and above and beyond to help and assist me. For the food that required cooking, they took those back and said that I could choose anything from their selection there and to replace it. Having saved my life (and my job) I hastily chose (rather prudently this time) selected items that were ready to serve and were worthy enough for corporate clients. The staff were just amazing, in particular Anthony and Elinor who helped me with where I needed to go, what selection I could opt for and facilitated and administered the exchanges accordingly. I cannot praise them enough and if I could, I would give them 10 out of 10. Excellent customer service. Thanks a million again.
