Small but great selection of food, clothes and other bits and bobs. The staff are very friendly, as well.

James Selby has cool stuff for good prices…read more You can get Topshop clothing here and Indie labels. You can also get cheap dishes and glassware. This shop reminds me of John Lewis on a budget, complete with Camden style strippy tights for your goth moments or years. J. Selby comes complete with a wig salon with normal coloured wigs and a magenta wig! I thought the kitchenware was really cheap and there were some pretty glasses on offer from 1.50. I want to come back here (Why can't I ever buy anything here the first time, damn North London rent) to buy this silk polka dot dress for 34.00. It is made by some Indie designer beginning with Dark...but I can't read my own handwritting so I'll have to work on my freehand and let you know. Go to James Selby..you will not be disappointed!

It's one of a dying breed, the independent department store. Upstairs, shoppers can buy sewing notions, polyester granny smocks and aprons, low end Wedgewood lines, Pyrex, and linens. A nice range of linens is offered from practical no-iron percale to sheets and pillows by Monsoon. On the ground floor, clothes are grouped into boutique-like clusters. Evans has a section, so does Monsoon, so does Top Shop. Cosmetic counters flank the front of the store, next to the wig shop and hair salon and a few sticks of furniture are sold in the basement.

Er... No! Nags Head Market, what is going on? You claim to have over fifty stalls, I arrived on a…read moreSunday (generally market day in London) at 1pm and counted exactly nine stalls open. I felt like I was in an out of season seaside resort. You'll find cheap catalogue knock-off style clothing stalls, a fishmonger, a fruit & veg stall and the occasional 'I am clearing out my house and want you to buy my stuff', kind of stall. Nags Head market is definitely weird, rarely wonderful and with the people who frequent this area of N7, teetering on the precipice of being a ghetto London shopping experience.

An update because all other reviews are kind of out of date…read more I visited on Thursday between 10 and 11 AM, quite some stalls/shops were closed. Some were opening up their shop, to prepare for a lunch crowd I guess? Most of the stalls don't really sell anything I would really go to this market for, like cheap suitcases or so. Some stalls sell some special take away food, like Japanese or Nigerian, have not tried any. I do love the first few shops of this market when entering from Seven Sisters road. The fish shop Holloway Fisheries has a very good offer of fresh fish, good priced, cleaned as you wish by the nice guys. The butcher A&F Butchers looks like a great butcher, with halal meat, beef, lamb and poultry. The vegetables at the greengrocer also look really good and fresh, great shop. I will definitely come back to the three shops above mentioned but are not really thrilled about the rest of the market.

I visited Selfridges with my husband about two weeks ago, when we were visiting London for a few days. This store - their flagship - opened in 1909, and is the second-largest department store in the UK after Harrods. The store was founded by Harry Gordon Selfridge, who became the subject of an ITV/Masterpiece showed called "Mr Selfridge," in which Selfridge was played by Jeremy Piven. During the Second World War, Selfridges housed a huge SIGSALY scrambling machine in its basement, which allowed Winston Churchill to call President Roosevelt directly and securely about a mile away from the Cabinet War Rooms. You can see its history in the bones of the building. The store has definitely been updated (it's stunning), but you can see original touches from the 1909 building. But Selfridges is a modern luxury department store with the best brands. You can definitely spend some money at Selfridges. We were just exploring the store, since we were in the neighborhood, but it's an incredible store - for shopping, for having a glass of champagne at their bar, or for checking out their pretty wonderful art pieces around the store.

The store has been around since the early 1900s and the only store in the UK that's bigger is of course, Harrods. Six floors of glorious shopping, eating, and tattooing. That's right, in addition to the high-end luxury clothing, shoes, and accessories on the retail side, there are restaurants, and a tattoo shop. Lots of other cool things to explore within Selfridges as well. I have found the service to be consistently friendly, helpful, and polite. Selfridges is an institution to seen by all whether for the first time or the 100th time.

The showroom contains a bit of a mish-mash of different style designs and ideas. Some things are very expensive, some are a little expensive...but lots of their products look really nice. There are also a few "who-on-earth-would-pay-*that-much*-for-*that*" type items, but meh, different strokes for different folks. There were a couple of items that caught my eye. The Designer Warehouse is one of my favourite London discoveries…read more Not far from my home, and just off Seven Sisters road is a monthly sale for designer clothes - having heard from it from a colleague, I didn't really know what to expect. It was great and would definitely recommend giving it a visit. When getting to the warehouse, you have to leave your bag and coat (including your phone) in a cloakroom, and may a small fee of £3 (or 2?) to be able to get in. The sale is over 2 floors, and organised by designers - some are really well known, some are smaller names I've never heard of. It's not a posh environment, it's just rows and rows of clothes on hangers - and you have to take the time to go through them to find the gems, and also your size. There aren't any changing rooms, but there is an area where you can go and try them on at the back of the venue - it's closed off to men, but you do have to accept getting changed in front of other women. I am myself a massive fan of Vivienne Westood, and this was also the opportunity for me to try on a few pieces of her clothes - and yes, I did cave in and buy a top (1/3 of the original price) and a scarf. Good to know: they separate their sales between womanswear and menswear - their schedule is updated on their website.
