On the receipt it says that items are dispatched within 8 days and delivered shortly after. Several weeks and many visits to the store later and I am still waiting for my items. Delivery has been scheduled 3 times by Furdeco the useless company that The Range use. Yesterday I was called by the delivery driver to say that he was 20 minutes away from me and whilst I was on the phone with him I received a text to say that the delivery would need to be rescheduled as my items were not on the van. You can't make this up! If you go online to order the garden furniture it says it is delivered within 3 days and yet a purchase made instore several weeks ago is still outstanding. I have written to the CEO who has not even acknowledged me. I have no confidence in The Range or Furdeco at this point and would not recommend them to anyone.

I imagine that they consider themselves to be cheap but I do not they have lots of not very special offers. The shop is always really messy and cramped with stuff everywhere and lots of stuff is unpriced, there is never any staff around to help you.

I went to the store at he weekend to buy some things for my new home - bins, pillows, cutlery storage, towels... and I am happy to say they had virtually everything on the list (although some was on the pricey side and I bought elsewhere). It wasn't easy to find everything - the kitchen department is a bit haphazard, but if you hunt you'll eventually find what you're after. The main problem with the store in Welwyn Garden City is the building. There are three floors and it's a maze. Different areas are in separate small rooms so it's very difficult to find what you're looking for. I feel like a floor plan or more signs would be really helpful because it would be very easy to get lost. The website suggests there's store parking (for a fee), but even if you can't find that there are many options nearby.

You know how when you go to a department store and it's heaving with people (some of obviously…read moreill-er repute than others - get back in your box, peasant, and stop shopping in my Debenhams!), and everything's disorganised, and clothes have fallen to the ground, and the fluorescent lighting makes you look peaky, and the mirrors in the fitting rooms make you look fat, and - now that you mention it - why it is so fucking hot in this tiny cubicle and why does it smell like feet(?!), you have to remind yourself why you thought it was a good idea to shop in a department store in the first place? Well, Williams & Griffin is the exact opposite of that. It is pure class, people. With roots back to the 19th century (historical!) and awards like 'Best Independent Department Store of the Year' under its belt, Williams & Griffin is a cut above the rest. With attentive staff, spacious sales floors and well-selected merchandise (generally brands in the upper echelons of retail), it's always a pleasure to shop in. Definitely one of the premier shopping outlets in the area. If you're ever out in Colchester, it's certainly worth a mooch.

And don't even get me started on the cost of the 'William & Griffin' car park........ £7.50 for three hours parking. EXTORTIONATE!! The women's 'Fashion' department if you can call it that, is dire. Same old stuff that you find up and down the country in every department store. And rails that are soooo crammed with stuff, which gives you no reason to even bother looking! It's NOT fashion, just boring, commercial, mass produced blandness. If you can be bothered, why not venture into the heart of the town centre, where small businesses are offering you something different and unique. Some people need educating into realising that the best stuff is in independent shops NOT boring department stores! On the plus side they always put alot of effort into their Xmas display window. My advise to anyone reading this, try venturing down lanes such as 'Lion walk', 'Trinity Street' or 'Sir Issacs Walk'. You will find hidden treasures. Small shops full of wonderful things and lovely customer service............ Come on everyone, support your independents!!!!

Its all colour grouped like Monsoon, so you dont have to look round the entire shop. Full prices are not cheap, but if you're looking for classics and they have a really good 'petite' range. Have diarised the sale for next Spring. Will need to sharpen my elbows though as I understand it sells out pronto!

It is a bit of a maze inside with ladies clothes down stairs with concessions mainly catering for the more mature lady. The cook shop is now upstairs on the first floor this is great with hard to find cooking and baking stuff. Also on the first floor is the cafe/restaurant this is very nice and well spaced out the choices of food and drink could be a bit more varied but it usually all tastes nice. They also sell carpet, flooring, curtains and furniture.

Oh God, what have they done!…read more Jackson's square, named after Sir George Jackson, who was one of the founders of the Stort Navigation, was originally built in the 60s, and as such, had the heavy concrete look of the era. In the late 80s a big refit and revamp was performed, adding a glass roof to the centre, and attempting to make more of a classic piazza feel. Then there is the recent development. Before my rant, I'll tell you the good stuff. Jackson's Square is pretty central to the town, holds big name chains such as Sainsbury's, Next, New Look, Superdrug, Starbucks, Peacocks, etc, and a few independent clothes shops as well. The smoking ban has helped to lift the lingering pong of fags that used to cling to the clothes in Peacocks, and there is no longer a gauntlet of smoking school kids to get past. The bad news. The new development is hideous, huge, awkward to get to, awkward to park near, looks about as new and glam as the original 60s building did, and generally towers over the rest of the town leaving it in dark shade most day. Poor old Sir George must be rolling in his grave.

It has the usual High Street names, ie Dorothy Perkins, River Island, Burtons, Claires Accessories, Thorntons etc. they also ocaasionally have small stalls set out in the middle selling gifty type items. They do special events in the school holidays and to promote other keys times, ie Halloween or Christmas. It has an undercover carpark attached, which is not too expensive and is good for when it is raining. There are two coffeee shops in the middle, my favourite is Esquires. All in all, this is a good place to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon, for some retail therapy.
