This is a bar whose clientele skew to what I would describe as Archie Bunkers. Middle - aged to retired white men who are not happy that their once idyllic neighbourhood is changing. Working with us is one thing.......but come on. Its in their collective look from a perch at the corner of the bar. Fortunately its not like that all the time. I've been in the afternoon and evening. Two different crowds. The wait staff is friendly enough, yet sketchy as hell with their post-it note bar tab system. And might I suggest bringing a mini-megaphone to get the waitress attention because they do NOT have their head on a swivel like real bartenders. They're barely beer and shot jockeys. This place is very strange for being in Munster. The staff was extremely nice, The drink prices were very reasonable but the crowd was a little-off. There was a fight in the hallway by the bathrooms. Bunch of men beating a boxing machine, smell of pot was filtering in the air and the bathroom was out of toilet paper most of the night. I have no desire to come back. This is a review I posted 14 months ago. The owner Cheryl sent me a threatening message 14 months later to tell me it was untrue and she had cameras. My friend and I decided to try this bar after dinner. Incident number one, we waited for while to be served (clearly the bartenders were not waiting on no one) they were just ignoring us until finally one of the served us. Incident number two, I go up to the bar and ask for napkins and one of the bartenders didn't say nothing and just rolled her eyes and gets me only two napkins unwillingly. Here is my thing I am Mexican American and while they were serving everyone else who was mostly white yet again I was treated unfairly. Get it together my money is good. I won't ever be there again. I went to MarkO's for the first time to watch the Alabama v. LSU game (ROLLLLLL TIDE!!!!!!) I had a couple Mark O's Lemonade, which was delicious!!!!!! My mom had the Vodka Bubbler and that was even better! I love the atmosphere here, with the tv's going around the bar in the center of the room. The set up is slightly awkward, but lovable at the same time. I was able to watch the game on the TV directly in front of my table and also able to see competing teams. There were people here watching games from virtually every conference, so it seemed very diverse. Since it was November, it was kind of chilly, but I always drive past in the summer and the patio is full. They have clear garage doors that are raised during the summer, so the outside and the indoor bar still feel connected. I'm probably going to visit in the summer to experience the outdoor patio for myself. read more

Went to Marko's on Memorial Day. They were packed and I could see why. This neighborhood bar and grill is very inviting. The burgers were a pleasant surprise... top quality meat is used. Munster has been in great need of a cool indoor/outdoor bar on the main drag. We still are... MarkO's is your girlfriend's friend's boyfriend that you've been hearing is "right up your alley". You first meet him on a double date. He's wearing a Tap Out shirt. He orders a Bells Oberon with the orange in it. Whenever you try to start a conversation with him, he keeps interrupting you by shouting F-bombs at the TV that's showing the Sox game. He keeps making awkwardly racist comments about the other patrons. When the bill comes, his girlfriend asks him if he has any cash. "Of course, right?" he says to you. When he opens his wallet, you notice a rewards club card for a place called "The Kitty Room". They leave on his sports bike. He didn't bring a helmet for her. I'm totally done with the bronzed-skin 24 year old waitress in hot pants thing. I don't want to be the creepy 30-something that's nudging his buddy every time a girl walks by like, "Eh? EH?! You see THAT? Yeeaaaahhhh...." So I find myself trying to keep eye contact with the waitresses to such a degree that they must wonder if I'm trying to see through to the back of their head. All I can think of is the interview process that these girls must go through. "Yeah, honey. Yer hired. But, one last thing... There's a uniform you gotta wear if you work here. I've got one here for you in this Altoids tin. Uuunnnnggghhhhhh....yeahhhh...." Look, I'm all for sexy. But sexy is tough to pull off. This place BLOOOOWS! I've heard of this place and thought why not try it out on a nice cool Friday evening. Open air environment, patio area, nice trendy bar right up my alley. I pull up, walk into a uncrowded MarkO's and sat down with two empty chairs on both sides of myself. I waited, and waited, then thought why not time this. It took 5 MINUTES for someone to acknowledge me! 5! 5 mins might now seem long, but that's a whole traffic light in Bangkok (that's no joke too). This place was not busy and had 4 women as wait staff, 3 running the bar with 15 people at the bar (including myself). Whatever, I get my drink and I relax for a bit. It wasn't until I wanted my check I got upset. It took 10...10 MINUTES to get my tab. How long does it take to run a credit card!?! The woman got the card, looked at it, went into the back, then came back, then to someone else, then back, and then I stopped watching after that because I had already lost it. I left $0 tip, will NEVER come back, and advise anyone who comes here to be patient when no one is here because they don't know what the hell they're doing. I don't know how their food is, but my tip reflects service and this was the first time I ever stiffed anyone or people. In so many words, THE ABSOLUTE WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD!!! Went to MarkOs for the first time about two years ago when I was in town for business. I thought it was strange that the place was pretty much empty on a Saturday night around 9pm. The food was just ok but sitting at the bar gives you a great view of the TVs. Came back a couple weeks ago and I was disappointed. The service was awful! I don't care how attractive you are you still have to make an effort to provide good service. Constantly forgot what drinks we ordered food was messed up. Items not brought, food was just ok. You could tell it was all frozen. I also don't like that I wasn't given an itemized receipt. Just a total amount. How the hell am I supposed to know if it was correct. If business wasn't paying I would have been demanding of an itemized total. Really the only thing going for this place is the great TV place over the bar. Had to write an updated review because we've gone again (much to my dismay) a few more times. Their wings are GREAT! I've heard the rest of their food is pretty good as well. HOWEVER, each of the other times we have gone here, it's the same thing with the servers: when you sit down you nearly get mugged by at LEAST 3 servers. You order, they smile and say okay, they come back with something other than your order. After receiving the corrected order you get another 2-3 servers asking if you need anything (while sitting with OBVIOUSLY full drinks). Good food, good choice in beer/liquor, cool looking place but the servers are just killing the ability to give them more than 2 stars. Very different ambiance than a lot of other local bars. The bar is LED and can change colors - very mood setting! The number of windows with garage doors allowed fresh air into the bar - a very nice touch for a beautiful summer night breeze. Didn't get to order any food but the bar was slammed for the Blackhawks game 6 (partly because The Charley Horse down the street had lost power due to storms). Lots of good HD flatscreens. Waitresses and bartenders were pretty on top of things considering the large number of people. Marko was there and was really friendly, helping out his stafff and mingling with the clientèle. I love MarkO's! The YELP reviews do not reflect this bar. I think it is the best sports bar around! They have TONS of big screen TVs to watch sports. The bartenders are super friendly and I always receive great service. They have a drink menu with martinis and special drinks/shots. I have tried many menu items. I really love their burgers and wings! They have a huge selection of appetizers too, great for sharing! They also have darts, golf, punching bag, and a shuffleboard. They have garage doors that open up and a huge patio. They have the coolest neon colored bar that changes colors! The bar is the cleanest bar I have been to. The atmosphere was great, a lot of dip cups and Subaru's with people vaping in them in the parking lot. Was a little confused if I would be accepted when walking into here. To my surprise the bartender was very nice even when she yelled to us asking if we were ok from the bar. We visited MarkO's in hopes that it would be an awesome new bar, boy were we sadly mistaken. First off we went there to watch a Blackhawks game, with all the TV's we assumed it was a sports bar and they would play the sound for the game. Unfortunately they turned the jukebox on which was catering to a group of drunken 40+ patrons. Why bother playing the game if we can't hear it? Second when the waitress finally came by my boyfriend asked what kind of beers they had, she started off naming them with 312 and immediately after she said that he stated he would take one. (now mind you this was the first beer she named) When she returned to the table she set the drinks down and walked away. As we were in the middle of the conversation we didn't notice she had brought him a beer with an orange slice on it (clearly not a 312). We stopped her and told her that she brought a blu moon instead of a 312, I understand it's loud it may have been hard to hear but she then proceeded to argue with us!! "No that's what you ordered" she says, when he told her he ordered a 312 she grabbed it and walked off in a huf with not so much as an apology. She did bring him the correct beer sometime later. After realizing we were not going to be able to hear the game we decided to leave so we asked the waitress to bring our tab. Upon examining the bill, she charged us for both beers!! I'm sorry I'm not going to pay for something that we didn't order. If you couldn't hear maybe you should've clarified before you left our table. Been going here for awhile, just because I live and work nearby. Usually, I go here with co-workers 1-2 times/week. A lot of people complain about the smoking -- it doesn't bother me (of course, I'm a smoker). Good service -- never have to wait for drinks. Women are scantily-dressed, but I've seen worse. Warning: Don't go here with a date. Sometime they have cute bartenders, but I don't see them often/anymore. The owners seem nice: Marko bought us a round once, his wife seems nice (can't miss her -- she looks like a lot like Caitlyn Jenner). Food is OK, at best. Nothing special, sometimes good - sometimes bad. PROS - Decent service - Nice smokers bar and grill - Good service - Outdoor patio CONS - Not enough cute bartenders (they look a little skanky -- most have no class, or brains). - Sleezy environment.
