I was on a Vancouver city tour, and Granville Island Market was one of the stops on the itinerary. As a foodie, I had already planned to get fish and chips for lunch. Unfortunately, once I got to the market, I couldn't find the restaurant I was looking for. That's when Market Grill caught my eye. I noticed they had a salmon burger, and since I'd never had one before, I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Pacific Gold Salmon Burger, and it turned out to be the best thing I ate during my vacation in Vancouver. The salmon was moist, tender, flavorful, and a generous size. The bun was soft, and the lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. I especially liked the seasoning, and the honey mustard added a delicious flavor to the burger. It was served with a generous portion of thick-cut fries that were well seasoned and just as tasty as the burger. The meal cost $24.50 Canadian dollars, which worked out to about $16 USD. I thought it was a great value. If you like salmon and can only choose one thing to eat while visiting Granville Island Market, I highly recommend trying this burger. read more

The line was very long. Huge varieties of items. I got the plain poutine and it was good! Not spectacular but good. Nothing to rave about. New York Steak at the food court in Richmond seems to make it better. Ambiance was crowded with a lot of people. read more

We stopped by here just for the poutine, since it was the only spot in the entire market that offered it. Instead of traditional fries, they used potato wedges, which is an interesting and unique twist. The dish was served hot and satisfying, though we wished it had a bit more cheese curds. It would've been even better with the option to add smoked meat. Overall, it was pretty good but it didn't satisfy our craving for Canadian poutine. Luckily the next day we got our fix at Fritz in Downtown. read more

Ordered the jalapeño cheese hot dog, poutine, and Cesar salad. Hot dog was good, had a slight kick but I wished it came assembled with toppings, I read the description and assumed it would not knowing I'd have to make decisions (poor me). Poutine was hot, potatoes were soft and salted well, not enough cheese curds. Cesar salad was overdressed and not good, pieces were bad, as in orange and brown. read more

Fantastic Poutine! Cheese is slightly sweet and creamy yet stays firm within the dish. Gravy was amazing. I would like a bit more gravy and cheese next time though because my fries at the bottom we bare. Handful of beers on tap, and the friendly staff let me try one to help me select my beer of choice. Seating is anywhere you can find...this is a marketplace so don't be afraid to sit with others and make some friends. read more

Had the Bailey coffee with a double to get a jolt of keep the nerves going while running around with kids...the poutine was very flavorful, lightly fried and not greasy, and the gravy was awesome. Best gluten-free bun I've ever had! My breakfast sandwich was delicious. Great for fast food. Thank you!

Staff: I feel they were pretty nice. Quality/Quantity: Yoooo, these burgers are so good. Huge and packed with meat, Wife got a turkey club sandwich that was beyond good. She described it as heavenly. There was a sweet and savory sauce that took it to the next level of amazing. Far beyond any other club sandwich. Value: Not bad, not bad at all. The 2 burgers, a hot dog, club sandwich, and a drink for $44. Overall: We really really enjoyed the food here. Pro Tip: Seating can be tough considering the other food places and tourist nature. Fear not as there is an attached covered seating area for this restaurant alone. The outdoor seating is comfortable, shaded, and a great ambiance. **Don't miss this spot** read more

This spot is the Granville Public Market, close to one of the entrances. They have coffee products and bunch of lunch options. I ordered a Whiskey BBQ burger and a poutine and were pretty satisfied with the food. I took my tray and ate outside at a patio table facing the harbor/river (at least I think it's a river) with some live music happening. There are plenty of food options in the Public Market and in the surrounding area. read more

I got my Whisky BBQ with a drink. I asked the staff how big their food was and it was not bad portion wise. Looked small to me, but it was so filling. BBQ burger was nice and thick with juicy beef patty. Wedgies were freshly cooked. Food was about $20 with a drink. There was a bit of waiting to get food, it wasn't too slow. Food was pretty good. Vegan and veggie options are also available. read more

We wanted to have some poutine fries and went to Market Grill on Granville Island. We had the Euro poutine with Bavarian smokies, which was nice. Market Grill is located at the front entrance on your right side when you enter Granville Market. They sell what seemed to be delicious hamburgers. I heard several customers say they love them and they sure did smell good. I thought of ordering one but I had my heart set on the poutine. If you don't know, poutine is fries with cheese curds and gravy on top. It is a pretty popular side dish in Canada. I ordered my poutine and waited maybe 8 minutes or so for it to be prepared for me. They definitely do not do any of the preparation in advance which is fine by me. I really loved the gravy on the top of the dish. It was hearty and flavorful, not watered down. The cheese curds were sort of tasteless to me. The fries were good, but I do believe they should have been cooked more. But what I was really happy about is that the this poutine was served to me piping hot. Not only that, it stayed hot for about that 12 minutes or so it took me to eat through this delicious dish. read more

We came due to recent reviews and were not disappointed. Food was great, seating ok, but kinda confusing as far as one should order or sit down first. The food was very good. Creative, very large portions, decent price for the area.very busy area, so be prepared to wait, but it is worth it. read more

The burger was decent - a tad too overcooked but fair. The fries were lackluster. The prices were high.

I had chicken tenders. It was amazinf but the serving sizing is gigantic. The service was nice. It was a little loud

My husband and I were in Vancouver on Saturday so we thought to get poutine fries. When in Canada, right? SERVICE - The cashier that helped us was very kind. FOOD Poutine Fries - The fries were not crispy so that made me sad. I wanted crispy fries so it could balance out the gravy and cheese curds. You know, give me some texture! Though it was vegetarian gravy, it was really tasty! Wish the cheese curds were more melty and gooey but they were just blobs on the fries. Overall, I am glad we tried it but I think we needed to try other places to get the real essence of poutine fries. read more

I always order their Black and Blue Burger the comes with generous slices of Blue Cheese. In the past, I've always ordered their Salmon Burgers which are great too but after trying the B&B burger, there was no turning back. An order comes with a side of either fries or caesar salad -- really good portions and both are great sides. Their location allows you for a great view of Yaletown, Aqua Bus, people watching and the harbour. read more

One of the MANY food booths in the Granville Island Public Market. This place has beef burgers, chicken burgers, veggie burgers, a salmon burger, hot dogs, sandwiches. For those who want simple fare but with a variety of options. Hubby ordered the special of the day - Whiskey BBQ Burger. It comes with a salad or fries. He opted for salad. Also says crispy onion rings, smoky bacon, and cheddar. There were two nice sized rings in the burger and they were very crispy battered onion rings and yummy, bacon was good. Not sure about the cheddar because hubby opted out. Had Whiskey flavored BBQ sauce and some chipotle sauce. Hubby said it was pretty good. I regretted panicking and settling for a hot dog instead of trying one of the other exciting food booths, however I was pleasantly surprised by this dog. First it was jumbo and meaty, with nice grill marks and a little char and piping hot. The bun surprised me. Not sure, but it had the taste and texture of a brioche and was soft and delicious. You add the usual condiments AND you can add onions, sauerkraut, and a couple of others. So this was a better tasting dog than expected. This is a great stop for those who are not feeling adventurous or have kids who want regular fare. Note- rating is based on you wanting a burger if some kind or a hot dog. Not gourmet but good, basic food. read more

This location is my favorite- it's a must visit in the Granville public market. I ordered the Chicken grill special burger and fries but the cashier said we could upgrade to poutine fries so we did! It was my first time and I was pretty excited. The burger was REALLY good. It had BBQ sauce, chicken, Swiss cheese, mushrooms, and mayo in it. The sauce was really good and the mushrooms and chicken were cooked just right to make the burgers whole texture extremely tasty. 5/5 for this for sure. The poutine though... maybe this is because it was my first experience but it was not good AT ALL. The gravy seemed kind of old and there was really no taste. The regular fries were tasty, however, so I regretted upgrading to poutine. 2/5 The food is pretty overpriced but that's because of the prime location. Def would try the burger again!! But this time, with regular fries. read more

Market Grill had a very long line and based on this we joined the crowd. After waiting about 15 minutes to order, we still couldn't decide on burgers or the fried chicken--both sounded good. Asking the counter person yielded no help "your choice" she shared. We decided on the crispy friend chicken sandwich with fries and a Caesar to share. Another 15 minutes and our lunch finally arrived. We were so excited only to find out we were mistakenly given the regular bbq chicken (not fried). It was not very tasty. The staff quickly remedied the error and we were pleased with the crispy fried chicken sandwich--our original intended order, the fries and salad. The wait and mix-up on our sandwich yielded the 3/5 review. It's certainly popular though. read more

Very nice place in the Granville Island Market. I had breakfast here: two eggs, toast, and hash browns for a very reasonable price. Coffee is good too. Service is fast and friendly. read more

I come here for the salmon burger. The one with the honey and tartar sauce. It's a damn tasty wild salmon filet. Their kaiser bun is perfect: airy on the inside, toasted on the outside. Wrapped up halfway, old-school style. The accompanying fries are a favourite of mine: wedge-cut, unsalted. I seriously don't miss the salt at all with these fries, as crazy as that sounds. My wife goes for the Lite Delight veggie burger, which she claims is the best in town. I'll take her word for it. The best part is that it's located in the public market, one of my favourite places to visit in all of Vancouver. Yes it's touristy, but the place has a magic feeling in the air, even to a local such as myself. There are so many stalls you can visit. I always grab a lemonade or citrus iced tea at the pie place across the way to go with my burger. It's a killer combination, trust me. Good luck with seating on the weekend! read more

This place is just ok. I ordered a hot dog and it felt/tasted like it was made earlier in the day and then had been reheated. I've never had poutine before so I do not have anything to compare the experience too, but the gravy literally tasted like it was out of a jar. Maybe it was, maybe that's the expectation ‍ I don't know. It's possible I just ordered the wrong things because the photos of the burgers look pretty good. Won't be back again though read more

Pacific Gold Salmon Burger($10.00+) choice of Salad or Fries side. The Salmon Burger itself was quite delicious even when it reminds me of one of the Sandwich forms from McDonalds. Maybe the flavour had some slight resemblance as well from that first bite. It sounds like I'm negatively reviewing the Market Grill but aside from the Tourist pricing, everything was done well and kept in simplistic method as a Market Grill should. Once again much like their Granville Island Food Stall counterparts the price is relatively similar. Friendly staff willing to help me with my order when someone clueless took my Pacific Gold means they gain the full 3 *Stars* in my books. read more

You know what? Market Grill is exactly what it should be, and could be. You want a dog? great dogs, good price. You want fries? Excellent crispy fries, good price. Burger? for sure you got it. And the customer service is friendly and COHERENT which I have to give stars for these days. (Sorry if that's offensive.) It's good. Nothing more, nothing less. You can't complain on something that is decent and the price is right. They make a burger for you on the spot, and the fries are wedge fries. Seasonings are on the side so that you can add whatever you want more or less of. read more

As others have said, it doesn't stand out in the Market food court area, tucked in the corner by the doors (across from the Pie shop, A La Mode and the soup store, The Stock Market). It's been there forever, but I hadn't been in over 20 years. However, they make tasty, high quality burgers which easily rival Popina, Vera's Burgers and the Granville Island Brewery at a much better value. Freshly made, fire grilled Angus beef burger with wedge fries or a Caesar salad for $13. read more

Wow what a great burger. We ordered the Market Special with mushrooms. Boy, I couldn't get over how juicy and sweet the beef patty was. I wasn't particularly hungry so I told my partner to order one burger and that I would have one or two bites. After it was all said and done, I probably ate more than half. Since this is a food stand inside the public market, seating can be limited. People are generally very friendly and willing to share their table with you. We shared a table with an Emily Carr student, who said that they ate at Market Grill almost everyday. The prices are similar to other burger joints across the city, so I don't think this place cost more, especially since they make their own buns and the ingredients seem very fresh. Very pleasantly surprised considering the mixed reviews. I'll definitely be back for more. read more

Cute little food place in the corner. The seats nearby have a great view of the water. This place has amazing poutine fries! The cheese curds were melting into the gravy and fries. They use potato wedges so they're thicker which I personally think tastes better. read more

This place was a four and a halfer a few years ago, but alas it has gone downhill. They still serve up a tasty chicken burger (my fave is the Cajun) and the side of caesar salad is still top notch. Solid 3.5. At first, I was a bit hesitant b/c feel like Granville Island can take advantage of tourists but what the hay, I love the chicken @ L'epicerie Rotisserie and the chicken noodle soup at The Stock Market. Located in the corner right by the pier. Asked the nice fella what were the favourites, he said the deluxe (basic cheeseburger), California, and Salmon...before he even finished the word salmon, I cut him off, to me, that's not a hamburger lol but I digress. Went with California b/c of the sauteed mushrooms, this special herbs sauce that some fellow Yelpers said, and boy were they right!! It's more of a sauce, some good wet stuff and sadly, overtook the good 5 ounce patty. Only drawback was the bun, pretty plain. But I would order this again, just not right away. Comes with choice of fries or caesar salad, made in house, not too garlic-ky. read more

MMMmmmm.......... mmmm.............. mmmmmmm....... just thinking about market grill is making me drool. every time i come home, it's one of those places that i MUST go to. in my very humble opinion, one of the most over looked components in a burger is the bun. you can have excellent meat and accompaniments, but if the bun is mediocre, then the package as a whole suffers. market grill has fresh baked (artisan?) buns, perfectly crusty and soft. my favourite burger is their californian beef - rondele cream cheese, avocado, bacon, and mushrooms on a beautiful bun. all burgers come with caesar salad or wedge fries - both are equally good. there is a vegetarian option available, but that's where market grill loses the last star. the vegetarian patty is AWFUL, it's strangely peppery and dry and because of this, i can't in good conscience -even though i really wish i could- endorse the entire menu. (market grill is located in the granville island public market.) read more

Mediocre breakfast... borderline fast food-diner. Last time I was in, had an omelette. Ingredients like the sausage tasted... bad. Hash browns were like those you'd find at a McDonalds. Kicker was the price. You are paying for location not for high quality ingredients or preparation of food. With so many other delicious options in the market, I don't see a reason to come back. read more
