Fantastic, old school brick and mortar, private practice with modern technology. Last 3 yrs I have driven back to FL to see my old dentist because I couldn't find a dentist in Myrtle Beach. A week after a 6 mo check-up in FL, I cracked a molar. Searched for a local practice to help so I wouldn't have to drive 12 hrs to FL dentist. Called a few and when the receptionist at Market Common Dentistry answered the phone, I knew it was the practice I was looking for. It's not a drive through dentist like so many out there. The dentists, dental assistants, and hygienists are some of the best that I have ever visited. They treat you like a friend, not a nameless customer. I feel super comfortable there. After spending thousands on my wifes teeth it was suggested to do a deep root cleaning . On the day of her appointment her gums were red and raw , but they still did the deep root cleaning , to a tune of $1400.00. That night she developed a fever. The next day we were told to take tyienol . A few days later I took her into the office to have her checked ,gums were red & bleeding ,at that point we were told to go to see a dermatologist for a biopsy . Turns out because of the deep root cleaning she developed an autoimmune condition called Oral Lichen Planus , which there is no cure for. This is a horrible disease of the mouth & gums. These people washed there hands of the whole situation . They gave my wife a lifetime of misery. Watch out here , be careful with these people ! She has been living with this horrible disease for years now . We live in Myrtle Beach. read more

Yikes. I called Market Commons Dentistry to chat about my dental problems, and hopefully make an appointment to look at avenues to help me. The short of it is, whoever answered the phone there was NOT at all in any mood to listen to me. I don't believe I was anything but, "chatty" about what I need help with and...... I thought at first I simply got disconnected "mid sentence", but when I called back, The person picked up... then hung up on me! And not once, but 2 more times until they switched the phone over to only an outgoing message and voicemail. Yes, it's Friday at 2pm, and no doubt they're busy wrapping up the week and want to get home, I get that, but...hang up on me? Yikes. I'm sorry, it's a dental office. But who else do I talk to about my dental problems!? :-( Clearly, whoever answered that phone had ZERO patience and wanted to get home because it's Friday. I've seen a few posts here in Yelp about a similar problem with "someone" at this office interacting poorly with "customers". All I can say is...wow. I think I just dealt with her! I was in a lot of pain with a tooth that had previous work years before. I was seen my MCD and Dr. Latvis the same day I called as a new patient for help with an exam price quoted up front. I was examined, given options for treatment during that appointment. I went home with antibiotics and was able to schedule treatment, once I made that decision, right away. My treatment went way smoother than I expected and I feel so much better now. THIS is my dentist from now on. They really understand the needs of their patients. Sadly I have terrible teeth both genetically and as a result of a disease I suffer from called Gastroparesis that causes much vomiting. Horrible customer service! Woman at the counter had an attitude and was blaming me. You should have seen the faces she gave me too. They don't take insurance of any kind. I know. In the past they said we don't take it and then they take my insurance and run it. I go in and they're grilling me about not sure if they take it. She calls them. She said they're saying they pay 70% but their fees could be different. You might get a bill in the mail later saying you owe more. I said no I am not doing that. They did that to me last time bill after bill and it added up to a lot. She asked if I wanted to cancel and I said yes I'm not going to pay some yet to be determined fee when money is tight. She told me there could be a cancellation fee. I said it's not my fault and she said it is my fault I came in with the intention of not having insurance and now having it. Everyone know insurance starts over new year so I got insurance for dental. No surprise there. I can't help it I had my kitchen sink break and water all over my house and had to pay that and I don't have $400 today. So now I wait for a possible bill in the mail for canceling. I have never been made feel like the she did at a doctors office. I went in with the intention of them taking insurance and if it too much not doing everything like only cleaning no X-rays. I didn't go in with intentions of not doing the visit at all. According to her though I did. Now the work I needed done since summer of 2024 will have to wait even longer. I've waited months for this appointment and was here so early. If I had intentions of not doing anything I wouldn't have shown up that simple. Her attitude and oh we may send you more bills are what changed my intentions to nothing. read more

I made an appointment for FREE consult. They assured me it was free, since they don't take my insurance. On appointment day, we called to verify the FREE consult and they said that it was still on. I've been going to Dr.Latvis for a few major dental appointments and each one of them was painless with the oral sedation. I went SEVEN YEARS without going to the dentist due to my extreme anxiety. My experience at this dentist was very disappointing. I felt that they were all about money and my first visit for a general cleaning turned into 50 X-rays and cleaning methods that weren't explained to me. The cost was exorbitant, almost $500. and then they took another $100. out of my credit card for future work, which I made them refund. I was going to give them another try because I was having a problem with a tooth that they recommended I should have a crown. I made an appointment, and the day before my appointment, they called me and said they gave my appointment slot away because they thought I was looking for a PPO group and they didn't participate in my insurance. I told them I was worried that I might have an infection, and they told me they would call if something opened up. They never did call and I found reputable new dentist, whom I very pleased with. read more

Christine is a fabulous dental hygienist. Am NOT a fan of going-to-the-dentist (after having to have ALL my baby teeth pulled as a child; then, a decade+ of orthodontia and fillings (since we had no fluoride on our water, i.e. deemed a Communist conspiracy in the '50s); then on to several decades of periodontal treatments/root canals/crowns and (elective) veneers...aside from wisdom teeth extractions. I swear, I have spent a large part of my life in a dental chair. (I have financed, I conjecture, the sailboats and antique collections of previous dentists) Thus, I have deep-rooted disquietude whenever I have to go to the dentist. That being said, although I still do not wake up w. a spring-in-my-step on days when I have a dental appt, Christine and Dr. Mills do their very best to make my visits (every 3 months) beyond bearable. I was Dr. Mills first patient that found him strictly by searching the Internet and making my choice from what I saw there. I came to him after not seeing any dentist for about six years because of my fear of dentistry. Being away from the dentist for that long I brought a lot of baggage that needed to be corrected. He and his staff made a plan of attack and we started on our journey and I'm happy to say today that I am back catcher to having a happy healthy smile and doing preventative maintenance twice a year.
