We were on a brunch hunt yesterday, and with people always pouring out of the cafes along broadway market, yesterday was going to be the day I tried one. Market Cafe is located at the beginning of the broadway markets. On offer was all day brunch which is great, as you have the choice of sweet or savoury. Now this is where maybe i mis-read the menu. When you are hungry for brunch, you are looking for that substantial, delicious dish that will keep you full to the afternoon. However on this occasion this wasn't the case. I ordered the Salmon Gravlax, with heirloom beetroots and rye. For £12 I was sorely disappointed. Literally all that was served was salmon with dill, a weird rye crumb down the middle and some beetroots. To be honest - this was not a salad and was no open sandwich which when saying rye -- I assumed bread to be served. Maybe I should have asked to clarify? Although I felt this was not a complete dish, literally salmon and beetroots. Would you be happy if that was served to you? With regards to the eggs royale, my dining partner says the eggs were cooked perfectly however the hollandaise just lacked seasoning. We cant complain about the juices. They were refreshing and offered a lot of flavour. The cafe itself has a nice atmosphere, I just think it would be great to see the salmon dish to be more substantial - whether served with bread or actual green leaves as a salad. My other suggestion is, maybe update your menu description to be more clear for future diners, if you are going for the more minimalistic dishes. This cafe has potential, just a few changes would really make it awesome. However, it was a whopping 93 GBP for 600g, which is meant to share between 2 people, but still not that much (refer to my pic). This is simply just too high of a price for this. Bone marrow and onions (12 GBP) - This was surprisingly good. Although the marrow itself didn't have much of a flavor, it was a nice buttery consistency to spread on the bread. The onions were cooked very well. Sticky Toffee Pudding (9.50 GBP) - This was more of a bread like dessert than a pudding, but was tasty and not overly sweet despite the toffee (which is good). The staff are very friendly, helpful, and attentive. The service speed is pretty quick. The interior is decorated in a nice yet not too pretentious steakhouse style. There were still plenty of open tables available on a Sunday night. Overall, while the steak and food are very good, the steak is simply too overpriced to justify me getting it again. Maybe worth trying once but not twice. I would potentially come back for the other menu options though.

The clientele is a mix of city workers and Hoxton trendies, although not so much of the latter. The nearest tube station is Liverpool Street. They show Sky Sports and have fruit machines and quiz machines which are quite fun. They also have karaoke and some friends booked the place for a private party last Christmas fort 35 people. There is also a space for bands to play, the last time I saw a gig here I remember having some very weird and wonderful conversations with some random people who decided to sit next to us.

All the hip bars are now dull, and all the dull bars are hip. The decor has changed a bit. From an old man pub, to a bit more funky. They have a really old record player in the far end of the corner which impressed me. They know have a large upstairs area full of neighbourhood young drinks. Love it! I fit right in. Just a warning: I had my wallet stolen the other night, right out of my bag. So pick pocks operate in that bar! They took my monkey wallet! sniff sniff. And my subway card. I had 2 subs worth on it.

Huge thank you to the team! I also noticed the restaurant was completely full and cozy of happy customers, which was great to see. If you're looking for classic bangers and mash in London, this is the place to get it. The customizability is incredible: just pick your main or pie, choose a mash, and drown it in gravy. With so many combination options, there are truly zero wrong answers. . A highlight was being introduced to Tracklements Spitfire Chilli Mustard--it was so good we had to ask where we could buy a jar! To top off a great meal, it was such a lovely surprise to learn that the owner used to live in Vancouver! Great food and wonderful staff! It does get very busy, so just be patient with the line; it's well worth the wait!

The bangers were tasty, the mash was comforting, and the whole thing hit the spot after a day of exploring. But the food wasn't even the best part--the people were! Super friendly service, and I got to chat with the owner, who was genuinely one of the nicest people I've met on this trip. You can tell when someone really cares about their restaurant and the people walking through the door. Now for the sticky toffee pudding...DIABETIC DEEEELISH! My pancreas may file a formal complaint.
