12-19-17 the staff (not the teenagers who are generally very nice) is on way too much Prozac.
I do not generally do much of the shopping, but had to run in and buy somethings my wife asked me to pick up. I went to the produce section and tried to find some Endive and Escarole for my tortoise, which is 12 years old. I also needed to pick up some items for salad.
Holy cow, the Escarole and the Endive looked like it was shipped over from the rejects from Hannaford's out dated produce. Therefore, I had to rip off all the brown and broken pieces of Endive.
I think some people would just pay for whatever MB has displayed. Please do not just accept the bad produce. You can take all the bad pieces off. You pay by the weight not by the piece of some produce, so take the best parts, they do not like it but it is your money.
I went to the prepackaged salad section. Market Basket should be ashamed of what they consider fresh produce. We like the mixed greens salad. As I looked for the one my wife buys I found five bags, each one had brown soggy leaves. I looked in the boxed greens and found the same thing. I looked behind the ones they wanted me to buy and found 1 out of 6 boxes that was not squished or brown and had a use by date of 4 days. We had the salad with my wife's homemade Lasagna that night. It was bitter and sour but more dressing help make it better.
I do not know if anyone has experienced the attention put in to the deli meats you order. My wife does her shopping, stops at the deli counter, picks up her number, and continues to shop. At the end of each aisle, she checks the numbers that are coming up and will go wait when her number is close. She orders shaved Turkey breast and Honey ham. When she gets home, I unload the groceries and put them away. I always check the deli meats and 4 weeks in a row the deli staff has cut the Turkey and Ham the way the attendant wanted to cut the deli meats. Not the way the deli meat was ordered. I understand it is just deli meat but when you pay $12 to $14 dollars for something, wouldn't you want it the way you ordered it. It is like ordering from Pizza 911. You never know what you are going to get until you get home.
The BEST of the BEST
On my way out, I stopped by the Bakery. Of course, there was no one at the counter. I waited patiently for a few minutes and a middle-aged woman showed up and said, "What do you need". I asked her if the bakery could combine two loaves of bread that are similar to the bread that is used to make Volcano bread, the type that you would than she interrupted me and told me I have never heard of that, let me ask my Manager. We went over to ask the bakery manager. The manager was stocking bread. The brain dead assistant said to the bakery manager "this guy wants Volcano bread". The manager turned and looked at me and said "NO". I said to her "I am looking for the type of bread similar to Artisan style bread" and she looked at me again and said "NO". I asked her how she could say "NO" if I have not finished asking my question. She looked at me and said "it doesn't matter we don't have it". I told her that her second grade education has served her well.
All I wanted was to find out if they could combine two of the Artisan style breads so it would be one larger loaf. I make a Christmas sandwich with layers of cheese, Ham, Turkey, Salami, and in each layer of cheese and meat, I put a layer of salad with Italian dressing and wrap it up in the bag it comes in and put a brick on it overnight. This will let the sandwich blend. The next day it is a very tasty sandwich and my family enjoys it. It might not be for everyone but we like it. I watched made about 25 years ago on WMUR TV.
I recall several years ago when one brother was being ousted by the other brother. The people of New England made a stand and would not tolerate this injustice by the mean brother to oust the good brother. The employees and the customers stayed away until the good brother won. That showed me the fortitude of the New England people and the honest concern they had for the than lingering Market Basket that we all patronized.
We all kept eating why the turmoil of the Market Basket continued using different local grocery stores while we waited.
When the problem was corrected, we all shopped at Market Basket and drove the store to an unprecedented level, now to 79 locations.
We believe in justice and stood by the "so called" dispute with in Market Basket. It was a clear victory for the owners of Market Basket.
We did accomplish one thing that was making the brothers very wealthy. This brings up the question, was there really a problem or did we just fall for deceptive practices and corporate greed? Are we treated as though we saved a store from impending doom? I do not think so.
So next time you decide to go to Market Basket just think "I wonder what the wealthy owners
are doing right now" are they sitting on their Yacht in the Bahamas or at one of their six mansion read more
