I don't see a single review here in which Markatos offers to meet with the customer to hammer things out. In one reply, the owner talks about how upset she is over the review. She never says how upset she is that she can't make the client happy and that she would like to find a way to do that. My experience with markatos is that they do an okay job cleaning. No complaints there. But they break a lot of stuff in my home. I've used them off and on for years, and their cleaners have broken dozens of things. The last time I used them, they switched on the jacuzzi -- inadvertently, I'm assuming -- and the motor fried. I complained, and after talking to Nicolle, I realized I was on my own. Nobody was going to give me the benefit of the doubt, so I left and hired another cleaner. At least a jacuzzi motor is something that can be replaced. Sentimental items can't, no matter how much insurance Markatos has. As I said, they're pretty good cleaners. They're just not worth the trouble. read more

I have used Markatos for over a year. Nicole is an outstanding service manager. From the start Nicole has been a professional and listens to the customer. I was impressed when Markatos did an initial in-person quote. I had called a few other firms and was shocked to get a huge estimate over the phone based on square footage. My husband and I are the only occupants so the spare rooms and bathrooms are hardly used. Markatos takes that into account and that will definitely save you money. Markatos sticks to a schedule pretty well. For routine service,once assigned a date/time the team never cancels or shifts days. On occasion, hours may shift but it is not a big deal. Great with pets! My dogs are treated exceptionally well and let out of crates while they are there. The dog are put back in the crate afterward. Markatos does a great job removing pet hair....amazing. The office management is exceptionally hardworking and accomodating. If I had to change or cancel a service they are top notch....Jo Ann thanks! Trustworthy .Period. We have never had a problem with things missing or stolen. Often leave them unattended and its never a problem. Recently, I noticed a few items were not cleaned as well as I am used to. I let Nicole know and the next day she had a schedule in place to re-clean FREE of charge! She also took it as opportunity to re-train the team. The house looks amazing. When you first meet them you will believe they are going to do a good job. They make a good first impression. Look closer... when they leave check your furniture for nicks where the cheap vacuum cleaners they use will be shoved into your furniture as they race to get your home done so they can move on to the next. Don't expect them to understand how to properly make a bed, fold clothing, or care for fine things. They will claim that all you need to do is let them know if something is not right and they will take care of it, but they will not take care of it in a way that would satisfy even the least discriminating customer. When a glass votive with very sharp points was dropped onto a fine piece of furniture, tumbling to do severe damage this service was oblivious to anything other than the broken glass on the floor. The offer made by the owner's daughter was she could have her father "glue" the crystal votive back together. Serious damage was done to an expensive piece of furniture when the pointed tips of this tulip shaped glass tumbled to the floor. For that damage we were told to just "send the bill." We have repeatedly let them know the bill for the damage and even had them speak with the person that will be doing the repair. it has been months and no compensation has been forthcoming. After several weeks of waiting for this service to make things right we finally had to let them go. Markatos will brag about how long they have been in business and they may even direct you to their web site where they have a few raving reviews. Please note they have no open forum for complaints. Being licensed, bonded and insured should not impress you. When damage is done you will not be compensated without the aid of an attorney. read more

We used Markatos for a "deep clean" of the home we purchased. Nichole was thorough and entirely professional in our initial walk through. I asked for a clean house attic to basement. I got a more than reasonable quote and after some harried negotiation with the movers, and some kind juggling on Nichole's part, we were able to settle on a date. While the crew arrived a little late, they worked ALL DAY and into the evening to deliver the clean they had promised. I can't say enough positive things about the crew. We had not only the cleaning crew, but also the window washing crew and everyone was professional, thorough, and did his best. Nichole stopped by to do a spot check and brought everyone up a notch, even though they were doing a great job! I would recommend them again in a New York minute! They are coming back to get a few things that were undone (the house was really in need of a LOT of work). I have seldom seen such hard- and good -workers in a crew. I was totally blown away by this company and its flexible management team. If they will come back after what our house put them through, I will be very glad to have them!! read more

They have been cleaning my house for a long time. At first they were not bad.. however over time there has been damage to my home (water left running destroyed my ceiling) broken items including family keepsakes etc.. they cleaning has also suffered.. they do not clean the woodwork as promised, they do not move furniture and clean beneath it. When I started, I requested cleaning on Fridays.. the schedule changed and I am slotted into Mondays. Overall they are just OK. I have moved on and am searching for a new service. read more

LOWER than one star! When I first hired Markatos, I was given a big sales pitch about their family business: bonded and insured, background-checked employees, trustworthy and reliable. Each one of these claims ended up being tested within just a few months. From the little complaints (not using my preferred products) to the consequential (bumping my appointments with no warning or explanation, locking my pet away from her food and water), to the serious (missing cash and valuables), my experience with Markatos has been one of the worst service experiences I've ever had. I really wanted this to be a positive review. My first estimate resulted in a no show, no call. When I finally got my estimate visit they apparently didn't get it on their calendar. Instead of honesty (the day of my initial deep clean) and saying they neglected to put me on the schedule, a team was thrown together and my deep clean ended up as less than a routine clean. My laundry room door was not even opened! My price was discounted, however it was still unreasonably high for what was done. Seems that they may have too much on their plate to give new clients the attention needed to grow their business. read more

I have never written a Yelp review before, but I am so livid with my experience with Markatos Services!!!! I wouldn't even give the 1 star if Yelp would let me. Markatos Services was TERRIBLE. We called them to schedule and appointment for a quote- the day of the quote, Nichole (sales manager), called me at the time of our appointment saying that she lost track of time and was going to be late. I had an appointment to get to so I just rescheduled it for another day. When we met for the quote (on Monday), she told us that she was going to send us an email estimate for how much it would cost. She also told us that they had a ton of availability all throughout the week before our lease was up to come in and get it cleaned. Wednesday rolled around and we still had not heard from her. I called Markatos and left a voicemail that we wanted to go ahead and schedule the cleaning. When the entire day went by without me hearing back, I called Nichole's cell phone- left a voicemail. No answer OR call back. SUPER UNPROFESSIONAL. on Thursday, I AGAIN called both the office and her cell phone, never heard back. Thursday afternoon, my boyfriend finally got an email from Nichole stating that she was "so sorry" and gave some BS excuse as to why she never got back to me. She also said that in a matter of 3 days every single slot for next week had filled up and she couldn't get us in before our lease is up next week. Super angry, I emailed her asking why she would wait 4 days to email us the quote, knowing that our lease is up October 1st, and that they were going to fill up on appointments(although I don't buy it). I STILL have not heard back from her. Moral of the story, at least Nichole is EXTREMELY unprofessional and if I were you I wouldn't give them a penny of my money!!! Trust me, you don't want this company cleaning your home. You'll want to believe their sales pitch about family but I beg you to find another company. It's all about money and the only clients that are treated well are the ones that spend big money or are personal friends of H.Markatos. God forbid your cleaning is scheduled on a day one of the preferred clients is first, they will feed you lie after lie about why your cleaning crew is late. Forget about complaining if you don't spend enough money with them. They will make promises they have no intention of keeping. Choose any company but this one. read more
