I have nothing but negative things to say about this jeweler. It took over two months (after the proposal happened) to receive my actual ring due to it not being ready in time for the proposal. When working with Delilah we would be given one answer in the store, but when we would call or email for an update on my ring we were told a completely different answer every time. Once I finally received my ring I tried it on in the store and it was still very loose. I was assured it was resized... I took it to another jeweler to get a second opinion. It was NEVER resized and the other jeweler informed me the stone setting Mark Peters put on my ring was not proportional and was risking the integrity of my ring. Clearly Mark Peter and his staff are unknowledgeable when it comes to designing engagement rings. The amount of miscommunication across the staff is ridiculous and Mark Peter refuses to take accountability. The store's business plan needs a revamp, or better yet this jeweler just needs to go out of business. read more

FYI to anyone looking to sell your jewelry to them, specifically diamonds. They offered me half of what 2 other jewelers offered. Totally untrustworthy. read more

Took my wedding ring set in 6 months ago for a complete overhaul, paid $800. Six months later a diamond fell out and they wouldn't stand behind it. Do not take you jewelry hear for repair!!!!!! read more

Didn't honor my warranty and tried to push extra repairs on pieces that I took in to them. I asked to get a clasp replaced on a diamond bracelet and they looked at everything else more carefully trying to find something else to charge me for before giving me a quote. The quote then came back with not only the clasp repair but a much larger cost to repair four prongs for some of the diamonds. I've been a local customer for years and was really discouraged by the feeling of being taken advantage of. Definitely not what I would expect from a hometown jeweler. read more

I went to this jewelers to have my ring sized and payed $1130.58. The rings are still too big. The salesperson could/would not help me. This couldn't be resolved. Dana waited on me. If I could give this business 0 stars, I would. read more

Whatever you want... Mark Peter's does it. I raree gem in the jewelry business. I couldn't possibly think of any other place to go for fine jewelry. Honestly, I have had great experiences and customer service every time I go in whether it's a small battery or a big custom piece..... Don't just take my word for it... try them out! read more

DO NOT GO HERE. Mark peters could care less about you and your money. I brought fathers watch here to be repaired who had just passed, the number indicator was loose and the only thing the needed to do was open the dial and take the number out without stopping the watch. The only request on the paper receipt was "customer does not want the watch stopped" so you'd think seeing that they wouldn't stop the watch? Instead mark Peter's arrived, opened the watch, tossed the #3 indicator in the trash, reset my watch fully and gave it back out. When I noticed that my fathers watch had been reset (when I repeatedly asked them not too and explained it was my fathers watch who passed) I called them and spoke to Gavin. Gavin told me "Mark Peters was just in Arizona for two weeks on vacation and walked in 15 minutes before you and did that." What a laughing stock we are right? Normal people having sentimental value? Rich F**** like this care less about you and your money. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Worked with Dana- who takes in and quotes repairs for MP. If I could rate a zero, I would. We asked for a ring's stone to be checked. She quoted the ring we brought in as needing 1. the shank built up ($260) 2. a crack repaired (no quote) 3. a 62 year old inscription reinscribed, since the crack repair would wreck the inscription ($222) 4. and four prongs needed rebuilding (no quote) Looking already at $482 with the crack and prongs still not quoted yet, the repair bill was just climbing! We stopped her barrage of statements about all things wrong. She was emphatic that the ring could not be worn, for risk of losing the stone. That just left my 84 year old mom feeling anxious and like she should leave her ring right there at MP. But, we had accompanied my mom. What was unfolding didnt sit right with me. We left with that ring. We took the ring immediately to a reputable family owned jeweler in Naperville who has a 20+ year relationship with the community, who came highly recommended, with the same request to check the stone and see if it was loose. A thorough exam and it was handed back to us - nothing wrong with the ring. NOTHING! We explained what had happened at MP so they looked again, specifically this time for the damage and repairs noted by Dana. None, guys. NONE!!. And the crack in the band? That was merely a "line" -not a crack, that can be erased at no cost with a laser, preserving the 62 year old inscription from my father, who recently passed, to my mother. I called MP jewelers and asked to speak with Mark. I described what had just happened. Mark defended Dana saying in his experience "She is just very thorough." Interesting definition of "thorough":quoting repair work for non existent repairs!! After 11 years with MP, my family will not be returning to MP. We found, instead, a reputable family owned honest jeweler, just a few miles up the road, who works with integrity. read more

Very pleasant experience! I cannot thank these guys enough for building my dream ring for me when no one else would! The store has a very down to earth vibe and Bill was super nice and helpful. I will definitely be going back when I need more work done! read more

Just left MP Jewelers, with a very positive experience. I brought in a watch and strap that I did NOT purchase there for help putting together. I tried putting on myself but experienced difficulties. The nice woman behind counter said she would check with jeweler to see if can make it work.... 5 min later she returned and handed me my watch. How much do I owe you I asked? Nothing she replied.. We hope to see you again. That's the kind of service that builds customers. I have no problem recommending this place. read more

I can't say enough good things about this store. I went in the middle of a snowstorm to have a pendant repaired. The pendant was a gift from my mom. My dad had given it to her while they were dating. They've been married for 58 years. The pendant was truly special to me. It was in a white envelope, (so I thought). I got into the store, and the envelope wasn't quite sealed. I had lost the pendant! The staff at the store was truly concerned, taking my name, and they understood how much it meant to me. After searching in the snow for about 30 minutes, I finally found the pendant. It was repaired right then and there for no charge! Their kindness will never be forgotten and truly appreciated! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to everyone. read more

I have worked with Paige on multiple occasions at this location. She will continue to be my go-to person, however everyone at this location is always very helpful. I am sorry to see so many one star reviews, I have been to the store several times for ring resizing, watch battery changes, insurance appraisals etc. so when I needed a new ring I didn't think twice about going there. I had a great experience with Paige, she worked with me for about six weeks to get exactly what I was looking for and I could not be happier with the finished product. read more

I had my wedding ring rhodium coated and they did an excellent job. Customer service was great and I will be returning.

If I could give a zero star rating I would: not only did they collect a deposit from me for an item they had out of stock. They assured they could make the item for me if I bought 16 Inches of gold chain and the bars of gold separately. They kept pushing back the time it would be ready and it wasn't done on time, then to top it all of they stole 2 inches of the unused gold chain from me that I purchased and returned the other 2 inches in unusable pieces. When I tried to talk to the owner about all of the issues that I had with the Store and my jewelry being unequal sizes to each other and not what we agreed on and the missing unused parts of the gold chain. He told me that I was over sensitive and kicked me out of the store. If you are looking for attention to detail in custom Jewelry and an owner who builds relationships with his customers and a staff that delivers on what they promise, do not shop here. read more

Agreed with other reviews that this should be zero! My mother recently needed some work done on two sets of rings. One was a new anniversary set of three, which just needed to be resized & one was her wedding/engagement band (she has had since she's been married, 30 years). She brought in the wedding set because it also needed to be resized and the solitaire diamond setting was bent. When she showed it to the woman out front she made a face & said "I'm not sure, I suppose I can check" and when the jeweler came out he said "oh yeah we can't fix this, it's so old, it's not even worth being fixed" Cannot believe that someone who is looking for business, would talk to a potential customer this way, especially about her wedding ring. Obviously she thought it was "worth being fixed" so she took her business elsewhere. Our entire family shopped here and have spent thousands of dollars--never again, and I would hope you would find a jeweler who cares about their customers, values your business & understands sentimental pieces like wedding bands always deserve to be fixed. read more

What I was looking to do was change out the black leather band on my new awesome watch for a black metal band... cuz that would have just made it MORE awesome. I started off looking for a place that could help me out at the Fox Valley Mall. Bad idea, apparently. While in the mall, I went to two stores with the word "watch" in their names, and another 3 or 4 jewelry stores. They all basically gave me the same schpiel... "we don't have anything like that; we MIGHT be able to order it, but you'll have to leave your watch here; if we CAN help you, we'll have to send in the watch, and it will cost a BUNCH of money." The one good thing that came of the mall adventure was when I went to the watch department at Macy's. I gave her the same story of what I was looking for, and after she told me the same thing that all of the other places in the mall told me, she then told me about this place called Mark Peters! I made the trek down to the store, and found a GREAT atmosphere. The owner's wife and son Nate were both working, and Nate was the one who helped me out. He was very helpful, knew exactly what I was looking for, and which book to pull out so that we could order something. His mother was very nice and personable, and she chatted with my girlfriend while Nate was helping me. I found the band that I wanted, and it cost WAAAAY less than I was hoping for! That was a MAJOR bonus. I paid, we chatted with the nice people a bit longer, then left WITH MY WATCH (they didn't make me send it in!) Only 3 days later, I got a call that my new band was already in! I just picked it up today. Nate was the one to help me again. He took off the old band, worked his magic to fit the new band on, then fitted it to my wrist. So now, my awesome watch is just that much MORE awesome. It was a very good experience. True story. read more

I worked with Anna to pick out my wedding ring for my October wedding. My mom and my soon-to-be mother in law both have gotten their rings from MP and they're beautiful! I ordered my ring early to be on the safe side, and I'm glad I did because there was a mix up with the manufacturer of my ring. The team worked so hard to make sure everything was perfect for me and despite the mix up, I still got my ring in a timely manner. Anna and the rest of the team here has great customer service and everyone was so attentive and helpful. I am beyond thrilled with my beautiful ring and I highly recommend MP for their wonderful team and their quality products. read more

I always enjoy stopping in, I've had a few of my watches repaired here and they are always finished quickly and for a reasonable price. With some bad reviews, I admit, I was hesitant, but this jewelry store is the best one I have been to. It is family ran, and I love that. They were so friendly and I was helped by a few people right away. I came in with an antique ring I had purchased while on vacation. I wanted to make sure the stones and setting were indeed genuine, and what I paid for. Not only was Nate and the staff remarkably helpful, but they were also very informative at no additional charge. The other reviews so they are crooks, yada yada ya. Don't believe it. They discussed the stones with me and gave me a brief history of the ring for no charge at all. You can tell they are extremely passionate about their trade. I cannot say enough great things about this shop. I finally found a great place I can trust. read more

I can not say enough good things about Mark Peter's Jeweler! Each time I come in I am greeted with warmth and friendliness. The staff here are always willing to help no matter how busy they may be and always give their full attention to each customer. I bought a necklace here for my grandmother a few months back and although I agonized over the choice, Mark Peter's helped me to find a necklace that my grandmother loved. She was so happy with the gift I got her and it was all thanks to the advice that I received in making the choice! I genuinely feel as if Mark Peter's staff wants to help me in any way possible and I recommend this jeweler to any of my friends looking for a reasonable and wonderful jeweler in the Plainfield are! read more

My wife and I brought in our wedding rings to get appraised. They told my wife one price and me another price for the appraisal, which rubbed me the wrong way. Next, my bracelet locking clasp would not close properly, so I thought I would have them fix it. The purchase price for a new was $14.95 and labor was around $59. The brand-new clasp lasted 1 1/2 weeks and it would not lock. I called Mark Peters and explained the problem, the lady said "no problem, we won't charge you for the clasp ($14.95) but we will charge you labor to fix it ($59)". I asked her about warranty on the part, then she accused me of purposely breaking the clasp. RUDE! I will never buy or have anything repaired their again. I advise all of you to watch out! read more

This rating should be ZERO. I went to this store wanting to have my wedding ring fixed but instead I was treated like my business was not worth their time. Unfortunately, I did not get the name of the woman that I spoke with however she was middle-aged/older with frizzy/curly hair. She told me that she wasn't the jeweler & he wasn't in, but she didn't think they could help me. She proceeded to go on about how my ring had an invisible setting, which by the way "they don't even sell anymore" (my ring is 15 yrs old, not 50!!) & how the diamonds would become loosened if they worked on it. She asked if I was concerned with losing my diamonds & then said she didn't want me "getting into trouble" if I lost one. (What?? My husband was standing right next to me, by the way!) She then tells me how there is probably "dirt holding my diamonds in place" right now, so any work on the ring could loosen them. Excuse me?? If this is how they treat everyone that walks into their store, then I am not sure how they stay in business. I politely picked my ring from her judgemental fingers, said thank you & walked out. I will NEVER step into this store again. My ring was appraised for over $12,000 & OF COURSE it is insured, so exactly what kind of comments are these? What kind of "salesperson" speaks to a potential client like this? FYI - I was told by a jeweler in Oak Brook that the work I wanted done would cost approximately $800 & he never referenced any difficulty in doing the work. read more

MARK PETER DOES NOT STAND BEHIND HIS SERVICE - I had an antique wedding band that was handed down from my aunt, which I used as my wedding band and needed to have it resized. The man wrote down the size, on my receipt and when I picked up the ring it was 1/4 - 1/2 size smaller than it was suppose to be. The man told me there was nothing he could do about it and that I would have to pay to have the ring made bigger because it was platinum and that was too costly. read more

I purchased my husband's wedding band here in December, 2014. We had been in the store in September and selected his ring -- a 14K gold 5mm ring in a size 9.5; I ordered the ring from Mark Peters and then picked it up and brought the ring with me to Denmark to meet my husband -- he is Danish and our wedding was in Copenhagen in January. The ring did not fit him and when we took it to a Danish jeweler they said it is a size 9. We paid to have the ring sized to a 9.5 two days before our wedding. When I called to store to request to be reimbursed for the sizing of the ring, I spoke to Anna and it was very clear that this was not her problem. She could not have cared less. She also said the Danish jeweler should have just stretched the ring in order to size it more cheaply. This is alarming and not something a reputable jeweler would suggest as it weakens the ring. I will not be going back to Mark Peter Jewelers and I would suggest you steer clear as well -- especially when getting rings sized! read more

My son bought his girlfriend a necklace for Christmas. He went to Mark Peter because he bought something there before, and it is a local business. The day after Christmas, she put the necklace on, but sometime later, noticed the stone was gone. She looked all over for it, but no luck. They returned to the store and were told it was out of their hands, that she did something to it. No offer of replacement, repair, the clerk said she couldn't send it back to the company that made it. This was not a good experience for either of them, and he doesn't have a lot of money to spend on jewelry, so it should have been special. Now she's left with a silver sunburst with no stone. Next time, they will go to Jared in Fox Valley. I know I will. read more

Probably one of the worst experiences ever at a jewelry store. We walked in and were completely ignored by the staff. When someone finally came up to us and we told them what we were there for she avoided us and pawned us off on someone else. We then waited another 15 minutes for someone else to come over, who while helpful, was obviously not interested in our business. They were both concerned with customers who were looking to "buy today" and not simply request information, or gather details about making a purchase. Overall, it felt like we were an inconvenience rather than a potential customer, it is a shame, we were highly recommended to this store and we will never return, and we will not recommend anyone to go there. They say when a person has a positive experience at a place they will tell a few people, when they have a negative experience they will tell 10, I will be sure to tell way more than 10. read more

I have always tried to shop locally and support especially this business because they have been in Plainfield a long time. Well that stops today for this business. Several months ago I took an expensive watch in for repair. It was a complicated repair and one that I worked closely with them on. I paid nearly $100 for the repair. Recently I picked up the watch and began to wear it. Within weeks the repair broke. I went back today and while they did fix it, they repeatedly said they would not guarantee anything beyond this point. The sales person even went on to say it was not strong enough and that silver was too weak for the wear and tear of this repair. My question to her was, if this is not a good way to do it, why did you repair it this way? To that all she said was the person who repaired it was not there today. This is not the first time I have heard that Mark Peters will not stand behind their repair work if you have more than one problem. For a $100 repair that they approved, I find this completely unacceptable! read more
