This decision is not a reflection of the dentist or the clinical care, which has always been satisfactory. Unfortunately, it is the result of ongoing issues with the back-office billing process under the current office management. Due to repeated billing negligence, I was forced to pay over $600 out of pocket, ultimately including payment to a collection agency for charges that should have been properly handled and reconciled by the office. Today, when I contacted the office to have my account reviewed after resolving the collection, I was placed on hold for over an hour without resolution. After nearly two decades of loyalty, this level of billing mismanagement and lack of responsiveness is unacceptable. Patients should not bear financial consequences due to administrative errors, nor should they have to expend excessive time attempting to correct them. As a result, I will be transitioning myself and my family to a dental practice that demonstrates greater accountability and appreciation for its patients.

To give you a small understanding…read more- I'm the guy who 99% of the time doesn't like complaining and refrains from making any sort of scene in public. I try to be an understanding person when a service/food experience is just horrible to try not to get anyone fired. Somehow when I leave I'm able to look at the positives and I walk away just not going back to that location again. I'm going to change that today as I am now fed up completely. I initially called this dentistry on the recommendation of a friend. I called for Dr. Noorani and apparently he was booked for almost two months. I have a root canal that needs to be done and so I was obviously in tons of pain. They tried to have me go with another dentist at the office. Due to my horrible experience with bad dentists I did not want to take a chance and I told them to just give me Noorani's next available appointment. I waited just to get a call the day before that my appointment is cancelled. The office KNEW i was in pain and that I waited for this dentist yet I get a call almost two months later with them trying to throw the same dentist that I initially declined. I was extremely upset as I was in tons of pain but I gave it another chance (people make mistakes right?). The front desk lady said she would book me for a consultation appointment (with a different dentist a week and a half later) to just view it so they can prescribe me medication for pain control/antibiotics and then the Monday afterwards would give me my appointment with Noorani in the morning. The first Monday comes around for my consultation and I was still out of town for work, I call to let them know and ask them if they can just do the consultation on the same day (Noorani appointment) and ill get through the pain till then. She then tells me I never booked your appointment for next Monday. When I asked why she said "I wasn't sure if you wanted it". So you booked me for the consultation on Monday but didn't book the main appointment that I have been waiting for over 2 months (close to three now) with the busiest dentist in the world?! She then tells me my first appointment wasn't a consultation and Dr. Noorani was going to start the procedure... I had never been more confused in my life. I was completely silent over the phone and then she gives the final blow by saying that Dr. Noorani has also said he will only do the root canal if I let him also do the crown!!!?? This was something we spoke about the first day I called and they specifically knew I was going to another dentist for my crown and he is a dentist that doesn't have an issue with it. BUT ALL OF A SUDDEN he wants to do my crown which is very expensive almost $1000 over my primary dentist. By far my worst experience ever from a medical professional. You would hope that people in this field care about your medical needs and at-least stay true to their word. Calling a patient 2 months later the day before an appointment to cancel and making sudden ultimatums is completely unethical and to be frank upsetting. Man, I feel a little better now. Is this why people do this? Hopefully I don't see you yelpers again. Take care

I decided to call after going back and forth with my current dentist on coverage. (Insurance) I was told the first appointment is all diagnostic. X-rays, exams, and consultation. 2nd appointment is the cleaning. The exam was very thorough whereas mentioned X-rays were performed. She recommended removing the wisdom tooth. I have not had any issues with it but it was recommended. The front desk staff was nice and helpful. They explained the process of the first and second visits. I was there maybe 20 min before I was called back. The exam area was clean. The equipment looked fairly new Dr. Carey came in about 15 min after X-rays. She reviewed the results went over what she saw and recommended. They put me on the schedule for a cleaning next month. On September 29, 2021, I went to my very first appointment at this dental office. When I checked in…read morewith the receptionist for my 1 p.m. appointment, she asked for my Driver's License (DL) even before she gave me any paperwork to fill out. When I asked for the reason, she initially told me it was needed to verify my appointment. Then she informed me that a copy of it was needed to have on file and to verify the information on the patient forms. Before I handed her my DL, I told her that she could not make a copy of it but that she may use it to verify my appointment and the information on the forms when I fill them out. She repeated that a copy was needed on file for future references. But, I emphatically told her that she could not make a copy. I stated that government agencies advise people to exercise caution when providing personal information and to not hand over DL or Social Security Card when it is not necessary due to rising cases of identity theft. But, she insisted that it was needed for insurance purposes. Again, I told her not to make a copy. Plus, when I made the appointment, I stated that I would be paying out of pocket instead of with insurance. Despite my concern for privacy and without having my consent, the receptionist surreptitiously put my license on the scanner while I looked away at my phone. However, I caught her taking it out of the scanner just as I looked up. When I asked her if she had just made a copy, she answered--"No, I scanned it"--with a smirk. My instinct told me that this establishment could not be trusted. Despite my intense toothache, I immediately told her that I was cancelling my appointment. Better safe than sorry. She then proceeded to slide my license under the patient forms on a clipboard instead of handing it back to me and placed the clipboard behind the scanner as if I would not notice. When she realized that I was on to her game, she reached in and took out the license. Her actions and body language spoke clearly to me that this establishment could not be trusted. I asked to speak with the office manager who turns out was present the whole time I was interacting with the receptionist. I explained that my license was scanned without my consent and that I would like to have it deleted from the computer. To which, the receptionist stated that I had given her the consent--what a liar!!! What kind of place is this? Without addressing my concern, the office manager told me that a copy of the driver's license was needed for insurance purposes. However, I was not nor will ever be their client, therefore, my license was not needed. But, my concern fell on deaf ears. What are they going to do with my license? Are they going to use it for insurance fraud? Receptionist, along with the manager, is the face of this establishment. With such people, who clearly lack integrity, customer care, and professionalism, one can't but question if Duluth Dental and Dentures is a trustworthy place. If they can't show decency and respect when I first walk in to their office, how can I trust this dental office with the care of my teeth, health, and personal information? Based on the dishonest behavior of the receptionist and the lack of professionalism of the office manager, something in this establishment is very much amiss. If you are looking for a new dentist, I would think twice before visiting Duluth Dental and Dentures. Better safe than Sorry!!!
