Upon the retirement of our longtime State Farm Insurance agent we recently began working with Mark Hoogs at State Farm in Moraga. We had our first meeting with Mark and he spent over 2 hours reviewing our current insurance policies. We found Mark to very knowledgeable regarding the current state of insurance in the California market. He identified some changes to our policies that resulted in savings on our premium. He gave detailed information followed by recommendations for our consideration regarding our liability policy. We highly recommend Mark Hoogs of State Farm in Moraga California. read more

Mark Hoogs State Farm Insurance Agent provides excellent, top-shelf customer service. The team in it's entirety are all home run swingers, filled with professionalism, courtesy, and fast response. My mom owns an auto policy and homeowner's policy with them for many years with zero issues from our end. I remember a few years back, we were really unlucky and on two separate occasions, automobiles were parking and ran into our house, TWICE! Talk about unlucky! However, one quick phone call and a few operational transactions and our homeowner's policy covered all the repair damages. Highly recommend with my utmost respectful regards! read more

I am a long time customer of Mark Hoogs State Farm. My recent interaction with them was typical of the excellent customer service they provide. My car was broken into. I called Mark Hoogs and Jason gave clear explanations of the process and the steps I should follow. He gave me recommendations of repair shops. And the next day they made a followup call to ensure that things went well. Highly recommend them. read more

Jason was very thorough in his review of our insurance policies. He recommended some changes that lead to us being better insured. He went over every option and I really felt that no stone was left unturned, which we really appreciated. Our alarm certificate was expired, so I renewed that which will save us some money. Thanks Jason! read more

Joining Mark Hoogs' office was one of the worst mistakes we've ever made. Mark is unreachable; unless he's selling you, getting in touch with him is harder than reaching your local congressman. His office is inept and rude, and when they say they're going to follow up, they don't. It's been one exercise in frustration after another, and I am quite sure most of these reviews are paid and/or written by friend clients, not real clients like us. Mark's response is completely inaccurate and false. My wife was pleading and literally crying for an update. The only way the claims moved along was by us the customer calling claims everyday, calling the body, shop everyday, and the manufacturer everyday. Statefarm agents do not interact with the claims department. The only phone conversation I received from Mark was 2 years after we switched over to me and he called to try and sell me life insurance and the second time was when we threatened to fire him. This Yelp response is the first written communication I've received from him. Notice how closely he monitors his Yelp reviews as he scolded us immediately after posting. He is a Yelp stalker not an agent. read more

Review of existing insurance to make sure we were appropriately insured. Very complete review.

We are about to transfer all of our insurance coverage needs to Mark Hoogs. He's the nicest insurance agent we've encountered and is tremendously knowledgeable about all types of insurance: fire, theft, car, earthquake, umbrella, etc.. He's also very patient and took nearly two hours today to answer our many questions and address our concerns. Wish we'd sought him out earlier instead of suffering through our current company (Nationwide) which is a mess, and about to non-renew our fire insurance, despite 40 years of paying premiums and never having made a claim. Very much looking forward to being on board with State Farm. Thank you, Mark! read more

Mark and his staff (Korrine), Juli, went above and beyond to help me during a terrible crisis, when my Apple repair business in Oakland got burglarized and vandalized. It was pure chaos dealing with customers machines being taken and trying to manage them all. They provided Constant followups, and reassurance that things would get back to baseline and to a normal functioning level. Being my first time going through this process, I had many questions and I am sure I was a bit irritating at times, but they did a wonderful job. I highly recommend this agency for all your insurance needs. Their office is in a nice area with parking. Hats off to Mark and his team! Keep up the good honest work in todays crazy world. read more

I had the absolute pleasure of working with Mark Hoogs on a nonrenewal of homeowner's insurance situation for my condo that was really complex to unravel. I can honestly say that Mark is so adept, knowledgeable and exceedingly professional. He's also incredibly kind, empathetic and has a solutions-oriented mentality. Thanks to his guidance I was finally able to secure insurance - but it wouldn't have happened without Mark and his abundant insight and resources. Similar to deciding which bank provides overall best customer service, choosing which insurance company provides best customer service and at what location. When I moved from the area served by my previous State Farm agent, I did a through search for all State Farm agents serving the greater area where I now lived. Mark Hoogs State Farm agency became the obvious choice based up reading customer reviews and the unanimous five star ratings on Yelp. My experience to date with Mark, Jason, Karin and others has been superior in all respects - helping me determine the best coverage given my situation, answering my questions on the phone, and providing reminders of annual reviews of my auto and home policies. read more

Mark Hoogs in Moraga took great care of us when our carrier (Nationwide) dropped us after almost 30 years due to area fire hazard. We reached out to him a year ago, but we had had a claim so we waited another year. Mark helped us navigate the situation, kept all of our information, and a year later wrote our State Farm policies. We are out of the very expensive California Fair Plan so we are saving money as well. We switched our auto and umbrella too! We highly recommend calling Mark Hoogs for your insurance needs, especially if you are facing rejection by your current insurance provider. He will take the stress out of the situation- thank you Mark. read more

Our State Farm agent of decades retired and Mark reached out to meet us and to review our coverage. We were happy that he did. He spent time with us in a thorough visual presentation, going over our property and car policies. He made sound recommendations that convinced us to adjust our current policy amounts so that we felt comfortable. He was quick in providing us with what we had agreed to in our discussion and gave us information for the Mature Driver Discount class. We feel comfortable that if there is a problem, he would be responsive in acting for us. read more

If you are in the market for any type of insurance in the Moraga/East Bay area, look no further than Mark.. He has impeccable service and all of the qualities you would look for in an agent. Very knowledgeable, trustworthy, and makes it easy to get you set up and going. I called Mark on Monday and was fully covered with Auto and renters insurance by Tuesday with the exact plans I wanted at a price point that was significantly lower than the other places I called. Nothing was pushed onto me and because of how pleasant my experience was I will recommend Mark to friends, family, and when it comes time to reevaluate my needs he can bet I will call him. read more

I had such a tremendous experience working with Jeffrey Menard at Mark Hoogs State Farm. Our previous homeowners agent's contract was terminated with our carrier and we heard about it from the carrier before the agent! Big red flag. Found Jeff via Nextdoor and wow am I impressed. We were able to move our homeowners, set up an umbrella, bundle our auto, and set up life insurance policies for me, my husband, and my kiddos in less than a week. Highly, highly recommend! Truly well done. read more

I've been with State Farm for probably 30 years and had the same agent for 20 of those years until he retired. After that I was shuffled through a couple of agents short-term, neither of which I was happy about. Then I was passed off to Mark Hoogs, and I've been happy ever since (a handful of years now)! Both he and Juli have been great not only at taking care of my insurance needs but responding to questions in a timely and helpful manner! I just had a review of my various policies with Mark, and I was pleased with the minor tweaking he suggested. I was also very pleased that he didn't try to "hard sell" me on other policies that I wasn't interested in. read more

So, here is how a service agency really, truly behaved! I got a quote for my current homeowners insurance that seemed quite high. I phoned Mark Hoogs' State Farm office just to find out if they knew of any agency that insures property on the North Coast. (State Farm is no longer writing these policies). The person who received my phone call was more than gracious! OMG. She connected me with an agent, Jason, who might know someone. Jason did homework and emailed me the results--2 different plans-- not from State Farm, mind you. Then he scheduled a phone call with me so that I could understand what the policies were insuring, etc. Then he promised to connect me with an agent--not from State Farm!-- who would help me with the rest of what needed to be done. THIS IS RARE. I want to do a major SHOUT OUT to Jason Filler, to Mark Hoogs, and to the woman (forgetting her name!) who started this ball rolling. They are saving me $5,000. in homeowners insurance for the same coverage I was originally contracting for. OMG!!!! HIGH PRAISE! Thank you all for being truly service-oriented, even when it doesn't put dollars in your pocket. YEAH. 10 stars on a 5-star rating chart! :) Teri Q. read more

I stopped by Marks office just by chance to look at getting a quote for my cabin, I have been with Allstate for many years and they were not renewing because of the fires in CA. The Allstate office I have been dealing with for years was still acting like it was Covid. They would only see you if you made an appointment, if you called it almost always went to voice mail and you had to wait for a call back. When I walked into Mark's office I was nicely greeted by the staff and Mark came out of his office and introduced himself He took the time to review my current coverages and made some changes that we both agreed needed to be done. He took time to explain everything and there was no rush to sell me anything. So about a month later I ended up moving my home in San Ramon, and my 3 auto policies and an umbrella policy to Mark read more

Just switched to State Farm insurance recently. So far had great experience working with Jason. Our home insurance policy was terminated by previous insurance carrier due to "fire hazard" in the area. Jason was able to provide coverage by State Farm insurance for the same premiums, but even better terms/coverage. I ultimately switched my auto and umbrella policies to State Farm as well. Jason is very easy to work with. He takes his time to explain all details. Responds quickly to any email questions. read more

My search for a reliable, consistent and professional insurance agency and agent had fallen flat with under delivery or marketing envelopes at the door but little value or transparency. Mark delivers - his agency clearly provides value and transparency and I'm in the process of switching insurance over to Mark. I am (a rare thing for me), referring him to friends, family and coworkers. They even donate partial proceeds to causes! On a personal note, Mark is a great listener, thoughtful and backs up his positive demeanor with technical knowledge and credentials. He put up with a litany of questions, comments, feedback, ideas and has a vast set of experience - 25+ years in the business world and in finance. read more

When we moved to Moraga, I got an online quote for Homeowners Insurance from State Farm, and Mark called to walk me through the proposal and explain the different types of coverage. His approach was thorough, consultative, and helpful. I didn't place coverage with State Farm at the time because I had a great quote from another well-reputed insurance carrier, AAA. A year later, my renewal with AAA was an 85% increase. In a sense, I was luckier than most in that they were even willing to renew my policy. Having gone through a market check the prior year and seeing a lot of carriers lowball coverage to show the most competitive premium, I skipped that step and called Mark directly. He and his team worked quickly to provide me with several scenarios, and we were able to finalize comparable coverage at less than half the increase of my AAA renewal. For those in Lamorinda or areas with similar wildfire risk, it's worth noting that State Farm is the largest homeowners insurance company in CA and the U.S. (by premiums). Size matters given the ability to spread risk over a larger block of business and have the appetite to renew these policies. I highly recommend Mark Hoogs and team - they're local, trustworthy, and the people you want on your side when things don't go as planned. read more
