Joining Mark Hoogs' office was one of the worst mistakes we've ever made. Mark is unreachable; unless he's selling you, getting in touch with him is harder than reaching your local congressman. His office is inept and rude, and when they say they're going to follow up, they don't. It's been one exercise in frustration after another, and I am quite sure most of these reviews are paid and/or written by friend clients, not real clients like us. Mark's response is completely inaccurate and false. My wife was pleading and literally crying for an update. The only way the claims moved along was by us the customer calling claims everyday, calling the body, shop everyday, and the manufacturer everyday. Statefarm agents do not interact with the claims department. The only phone conversation I received from Mark was 2 years after we switched over to me and he called to try and sell me life insurance and the second time was when we threatened to fire him. This Yelp response is the first written communication I've received from him. Notice how closely he monitors his Yelp reviews as he scolded us immediately after posting. When we moved to Moraga, I got an online quote for Homeowners Insurance from State Farm, and Mark called to walk me through the proposal and explain the different types of coverage. His approach was thorough, consultative, and helpful. I didn't place coverage with State Farm at the time because I had a great quote from another well-reputed insurance carrier, AAA. A year later, my renewal with AAA was an 85% increase. In a sense, I was luckier than most in that they were even willing to renew my policy. Having gone through a market check the prior year and seeing a lot of carriers lowball coverage to show the most competitive premium, I skipped that step and called Mark directly. He and his team worked quickly to provide me with several scenarios, and we were able to finalize comparable coverage at less than half the increase of my AAA renewal. For those in Lamorinda or areas with similar wildfire risk, it's worth noting that State Farm is the largest homeowners insurance company in CA and the U.S. (by premiums). Size matters given the ability to spread risk over a larger block of business and have the appetite to renew these policies.
