Because these people failed to accurately do my medical intake - I almost had a 5k dollar expenditure. I had been a patient at GHDP-Somerville for nearly 10 years. My first dentist was fantastic, he left. My second dentist, fantastic, he left. My subsequent dentists all mediocre to poor. I had a number of primary dentists here, so many changes to my service that I lost track of how many there were. The quality of hygienists, awful. Cleanings took longer stopped being comprehensive - my last cleaning I had to remind the hygienist they missed the entire bottom left of my mouth. The last... and I mean absolute last straw was my experience with Dr. Tsering DMD. I finally decided to move on. After my cleaning, they discovered I had a filling that had failed\broken and were intent on fixing it. As they started taking my blood pressure, I noted several times to the hygienist that they had my sleeve in the pressure cuff, so they weren't going to get an accurate response. I also insisted on them using a larger cuff (I have larger biceps and triceps) to get an accurate reading - they refused, ignored everything I said... and got a bonkers blood pressure reading. They insisted on me getting a primary care visit before they would fill the cavity. A month goes by, I cannot get an appointment. I tried to get it scheduled and was rather rudely dismissed by "Patrick" at the front desk when I called and explained that the tooth needed to be addressed. This was just before Christmas, it took me until mid February (nearly four months from the start) to get a new primary care dr. and a visit who said... the same thing every one of my doctors has ever said "Make sure they are using a right size cuff" I switched to another dentist closer to home - he filled the cavity last week and to quote him "You're lucky, I was barely able to fill this it may still need a root canal, we should watch this very closely" Go literally ANYWHERE ELSE

He never asked about what had happened or what I had been told by the office, but just seemed focused on money (as another yelp review states below) and stated that my insurance was "weird" and "difficult" and that they had "lost money" on my like 3-minute cavity check). You need to realize that the office is in a position of power and please be respectful to everyone. A few months I called and was told that they would check on a cavity as part of my next cleaning at no additional charge (because it would take 10 seconds) and they were nice enough to move up my appointment. When I showed up for my appointment, they said they didn't have time for a cleaning and they checked inside my mouth for about 4-6 seconds and said everything was fine. I confirmed before (over the phone and in person) that it would be complementary (because it would take 10 seconds). They then charged me and billed my insurance for a full exam. The reason for this review is that the office has been frustrating and very needlessly time-consuming to work with; in addition to the phone call, on at least 4 different occasions I was told something would happen (we will call you later today of by tomorrow; we will email you in the next few hours) and nothing was done. Emails weren't sent with names in the signature so I was never sure who I was emailing with. In the future, just say "We're sorry this happened. You were told it would be a cleaning but instead we made a mistake with the schedule and we apologize for this. Good news is at we were able to do a 15-second check on your cavity we installed, and because this was only 15 seconds and because you were misled into thinking that it would be a complementary part of a cleaning, we won't be charging you or your insurance for those 15 seconds." All the dentists and orthodontists I had growing up, would check on a cavity that they installed for free if it took 5-10 seconds. If they saw something that looked more alarming we would go from there and possibly book a longer exam in the future. I may delete this review in the future, and wish everyone the best with no hard feelings. Goodbye.

I knew that wasn't true, and I confirmed with my insurance (DentaQuest) that no authorization was required. I filed a grievance and documented everything in case this office tries to bill for a cleaning they never did. No patient should ever be treated differently because of their insurance or the color of their skin. I feel I was treated this way because I have MassHealth/Medicaid, a low-subsidy insurance plan, and because I am a Black woman as if I was ignorant and wouldn't know better. I remained respectful and polite, but I will not return. If you are a person of color and have MassHealth, Medicaid, DentaQuest, any type of state or government insurance, please be cautious. In my experience, this office especially Dr lang will play in your face, deny you proper care, will bill you for services you never received. Patients deserve honesty and equal treatment, no matter their background or insurance.

Actual dentist(s) are Asian and they don't speak much. Majority of the staff not including the actual dentist(s) are either Spanish or Brazilian. CON - Asian male customer service who works at the front desk could be a little more friendlier. Take his time to explain and don't speak sooo fast. I under that having to re-explain yourself several times because of language barrier can be FRUSTRATING but again your job is based on offering a good quality CUSTOMER SERVICE. I give them a 5 Star and would actually return again. Even if the dentist don't speak to me. Workmanship isn't based on how well you can speak!

Unfortunately the front desk personal Adriana loudly (and across the room with multiple patients there) stated I was uninsured and she was refusing to provide my services. I had to ask her to come over to me because I didn't feel comfortable with her shouting this across the room. I also carefully read the financial form which they had me sign and it stated they would bill for services and payment was required within 30 days. They refused to honor this despite having me sign this upon entry. When I pointed this policy out to Adriana she changed the wording to "insurance will be billed" and insisted I pay out of pocket in full right then. This experience was such a let down. Unfortunately they have changed and are no longer a helpful or polite or reliable dental provider. I would not advise that people go here.

It is very clear she hates her job as she rushes through exams and procedures. She recently performed a filling on me and she was the least gentle dentist I have ever encountered. She did not take the time to inform me of each step of the process like Dr. Dobrin had done with me in the past. She became annoyed rather than concerned when I asked her to pause due to discomfort and pain. She put so much pressure on my jaw that at points of the procedure, it was difficult to breathe. While I will miss my hygienist, Katie who is truly wonderful and is thorough with my cleanings I will be switching practices due to Dr. Choi.

Even outside, there aren't any dentist listings, just promotional material. My biggest problem here was the dental assistant setting up instruments and opening sterile bags without gloves. When the dentist came in (I saw Dr. Kafri for a consult), he immediately reminded her to put gloves on, but then he told her to just cover the instruments to use on the next patient. Gross - I decided then and there that this was not the place for my surgery. In addition, I waited 75 minutes to be seen and there was no communication during that time (finally after 45 minutes I asked if it would be much longer and I was told he was finishing up with the patient in front of me). They also messed up the x-rays from my previous dentist; they kindly took one for free but the wall mount was broken so I ended up holding the x-ray machine myself (more scatter radiation, anyone?). Overall, I just didn't feel comfortable having surgery there. I will say that Dr. Kafri was great, and I think he may be good at his job. But his support staff needs work before I would return for any dental work, let alone surgery.
