He also said he'd write a letter to my current orthodontist. When I followed up to get the letter, his assistant said he wasn't going to write it. I followed up with his office to get the notes of our consult and they refused to send them. It is my experience that you can't trust what this man says. I went to Dr. Garlington as a young girl for my braces 33 years ago!! I have come full circle with both of my kids also going to him for their braces (and Invisalign)! He has won many awards over the years and is very popular and well known in the Long Beach area. He was awarded Top 1% Invisalign provider for 2023! (I think he's held this title for past years as well). The office is conveniently located super close to our house in the Los Altos area of Long Beach, which I love. It is inviting and very clean. Went to Dr. Garlington's office for an invisalign consult. While I haven't yet started the invisalign process, I will say that his office staff are the friendliest people I've met in a long time. They seem genuinely happy to work there and are all very nice. Dr. Garlington specifically introduced himself to me, even though I didn't have an appointment with him specifically. I attribute this to Dr. Garlington's work ethos, and several of his staff confirmed that he and the office is a great place to work. Please seek a DDS Ortho who puts patients first with ample time and quality patient manner. This office is a conveyor belt of patients packed in with a 10 minute window on punctuality. If not your appointment is considered missed and you owe a $75 no show fee and will need to reschedule. Yet it's okay for the providers to leave us sitting in the waiting room. I can't seem to understand why we are still doing treatment it's been almost 8 months past the expected date for Invisalign to have been completed. This office is NOT affordable when compared to other providers. This office also refers to their trusted friends for DDS and they too are poor service providers. From a healthcare professional of 30 years. I can admit this was a poor choice for a physician/Dentist. Find another provider there is absolutely nothing extraordinary about this office!! read more

TLDR: Dr. Garlington's staff have always been rude and passive aggressive towards me over the years. This experience was just the last straw for me and I recommend anyone looking for honest, kind staff, and quality dental work stay far away from this office. Dr Garlington gave me a permanent retainer after my braces were off. About 8 years later I got a cavity underneath the retainer and my dentist needed to remove it to fill the cavity. After the filling I went back to Dr. Garlington and paid I think $150 out of pocket to get it re-glued. (My insurance was maxed out for orthodontia.) No problem. Then, only about 4-5 months after this, the retainer came loose from one of my teeth. Let me be clear, I was not putting any pressure on it or eating anything sticky or anything like that - just popped loose. I understand dentists aren't always going to do a perfect job and that's fine, mistakes happen. However, I do expect them to own up to those mistakes and fix them free of charge when they do occur. This was not the case for Dr. Garlington and his staff. They agreed to do me a "massive favor" of waving the service fee however, in addition to the inconvenience of going in (I had by this time moved about an hour away from Long Beach) they insisted I would have to pay a $75 office visit fee. When I told them I didn't think that was fair, and that a permanent retainer should remain attached for more than 4-5 months if the job is done correctly, they became very defensive and tried to insist that it must have been my fault somehow. I had been a loyal customer for years and my family had paid them a ton of money over those years, yet they still wanted to nickel and dime me. I decided that despite it being slightly more expensive to do at my current dentist, Dr. Tran in Bixby Knolls, I would rather give her the money than Dr. Garlington. She did a great job, was extremely accommodating, and even got rid of some of the excess glue that Dr. Garlington had left between my two front teeth, making it difficult to clean there. read more

I am at the end of my invisalign journey and could not be happier with the result. From start to finish, Dr, Garlington and his staff were professional, kind and answered all my questions. During the pandemic, they were very careful to maintain distance in the office, take your temperature and I felt safe every time. I am in my 60's and was reticent about fixing my teeth AGAIN. Was referred to this office by my dentist to find out more about Invisalign. I will NEVER be going back.... 1) Invisalign pricing is STEEP, defintley well above average. 2) You feel like just another sale to them. I seriously felt like I was being sold on a car. 3) Laura, the woman I met with was a smooth talker and very manipulative. She tried to rush me into getting started. 4) THE WORST PART: Laura made some very offensive comments that left me feeling frustrated and offended as the day went on. She originally asked if my mom would be helping pay for invisalign since I'm still on her insurance. I said no. When I expressed that the price was very steep, she told me I should ask my mom to help. I explained that my mom doesn't financially support me anymore, I'm a grown woman. Her response: "Well she didnt pay for braces when you were younger...." as if by not doing so she had wronged me!! I had several issues with this. First of all, I'm sorry, my parents had 6 kids to support. NONE of my siblings ever had braces because it wasn't feasible financially. Second, I make more money than my mom does. If I can't afford this, neither can she. Third, she had no right making those comments, it just wasn't her place to do so. And it made it even more clear she was tryng to manipulate me into moving foward. read more

I've had to work with 3 different dentist and this office is the only one that is getting a positive review out of me! My treatment plan was 2 sets of trays- 13 weeks to straighten my teeth, then 14 weeks to correct the bite, now my teeth a back to being beautiful!!! I am so happy with the results and the fact that I didn't have to wear braces again. No pain at all, didn't even feel he shifting, not even a pain with having to take them in and out, it wasn't bad. Billing....I have spent $15,000 (out of pocket & insurance) plus additional $550 that the Dr didn't cover had to go to another Dr that I essentially even Roland about at initial consultation. Not every cost is given up front and make sure you keep your own records for the billing because they say all paid up then you get hit again with another bill. What a beautiful office. I already feel at ease here! The women behind the counter were super friendly which also put me at ease. I was able to see the Dr. interact with other patients and he was kind and caring and personable. I'm already impressed. When it was my turn to be seen I was taken into an office with a nurse and they gave me a REAL DEAL exam. He called out some dental talk and she the same. These people are professional and know what they are doing! WHEW! We spoke about what he can do for me and low and behold, it's right on target with what my previous ortho had planned too. He even said, " I'm a professional and can handle any situation". I even asked him, "so you don't think I need jaw surgery or teeth removed?" He point blank said "no, we can correct this with a thicker wire and bands." (insert angels singing) I left the office with a clear, printed explanation of payments and an appointment to start my treatment! I couldn't be happier. They're super nice and make what can be a scary, intimidating process very smooth and encouraging! I am 22 and have never had any type of ortho work but they're very patient with explaining everything and make sure you're comfortable. Also as a broke college student, they let me set up a payment plan and are very understanding when it comes to an occasional late payment. The only reason I give 4 stars is because I am always seen a half hour after my appointment time, they're never on time. And their hours can be kinda hard to work with as a student and worker but the pros definitely out-weigh the cons! read more

I started going to Dr. Garlington in 2014 when I realized my teeth were not looking their best. I wish I could say this was my first orthodontist visit...but it wasn't. I had braces in high school, had them removed early, and never wore my retainer. Way to be responsible, huh? I highly recommend them to everyone I know, and in talking to others who have braces through other orthodontists, they definitely give more personal and professional care than some others. Not only do I have experience with his office as a teen, but I'm a return customer! As a teen, I had braces (phase 1 and phase 2). Braces, rubber bands, headgear, positioner, retainers - you name the contraption, I had it. My teeth were beautiful when I was done! Due to not wearing my retainers, being a tongue thruster, and the position of my jaw, my teeth moved and I wanted them to be perfected. With such a great experience as a kid, I went right back to Dr. Garlington. He was very detailed and gave me all of my options, with no pressure whatsoever. Since one of my options was jaw surgery, he encouraged me to not make a quick decision, but really look at my options and go through the surgical consultation first. He was also very knowledgeable about my insurance and knew that they were one of the only companies that covered my type of surgery. I've been in braces for a year and 2 months, and had my surgery 2 months ago. Dr. Garlington and his staff have been incredibly supportive, helpful, and personable through this entire process. They seem just as excited to see me as I am them! I truly look forward to each appointment, knowing that I am one step closer to my perfect smile. Their office is state of the art and I feel like the don't just "work around" my schedule and the kids' school hours, but that they bend over backward to accommodate our scheduling needs. Dr. Garlington is the best, most honest and professional orthodontist in the area. His office is new and all of the eqipment is new and state of the art. There is even a high tech equipment sanitizing room! From the floors to the walls to the furniture in his office, one can tell it was sylistically designed with an eye toward patient comfort and enjoyment. The staff is curteous and professional and very well trained. One can tell that Dr. Garlington invests time and training dollars into making sure each assistant who works with a patient is 100% confident and knowlegable in orthodontic procedures. He gave my children honest advice about braces. He took the time to explain to me when and if each of my children would need braces in the future. I appreciated his honesty and explanation, which is not something often found in the industry. My sister got Invisalign by Dr. Garlington and her teeth look spectacular.
