I am also not one to leave reviews unless I really feel compelled to. It's been a few years, and my feelings haven't changed. My first impressions were positive. The hygienists are very kind and thorough. I don't believe they are the problem at all. However, red flags started popping up when the dentist began pushing a tooth extraction and an implant. They had noticed something on my xray that they believe indicated my tooth needed to be removed sooner rather than later, however I never experienced pain or discomfort from this tooth. They sat me down in a room with their insurance person and told me how it would go down. As someone who is under 30 and never had any dental issues in my life, I was confused. I have also been told many times over my teeth look great. They referred me to an endodontist. Payed $300+ out of pocket for a 20 minute appointment for him to say "yeah, well maybe, maybe not we will have to wait and see." They also casually mentioned that the owners of the dentist establishment were their good friends. I did not follow up with a tooth extraction or implant following this appointment because the endodontist didn't say it was necessary at this time. I went back for another cleaning 6 months later and AGAIN was heavily pushed to schedule an extraction and implant. My intuition told me to get a second opinion, because something felt off. My gut was telling me this wasn't in my best interest and not for the sake of my dental health. As a young person who has never had dental issues in their life I felt like I was being taken advantage of. It felt as though they thought I was naïve. It felt as though this establishment was truly just a business trying to make themselves and their friends money. I have visited 2 other dentists since my experience here and have asked them point blank if I needed a tooth extraction and implant because a previous dentist told me that I did. I told them exactly what the dentist at Orenco Station told me. Both dentists I have seen since said no. AND if that were the case, extraction and implant should not be the first plan of action for someone so young who is also not experiencing any pain or discomfort. There should always be an effort to save the tooth. I still do not have problems or pain with said tooth. It's been 3+ years. I understand each dentist has their difference in opinion and can use their own discretion, especially in private practice. Some are more proactive and some are reactive. However, my experience was that this place was purely a business looking to make money. They did not make me feel like they had good intentions or my best interest in mind. They were VERY pushy to undergo expensive treatments. For future or current patients of this place, just use your own discretion. Advocate for yourself. Get a second opinion. Trust your intuition. This is just my experience I felt compelled to share.

I was impressed and delighted by their service on day one and just as impressed and delighted today, six years later after several cleanings, whitening treatments, and a few repairs. They have a clean, attractive space. They are super-professional. And they provide very kind and attentive service. I highly recommend them!

Stay away from this dental office if you value your time, prefer professionalism and value honesty…read more In September, I took PTO to attend my initial cleaning and check-up, only to be informed during my X-ray scans that the dentist was out of the office. The staff acknowledged they chose not to inform me in advance, citing a concern that new patients might not rebook if they were canceled on during their first appointment. Withholding this information from a new client to retain business is both baffling and unprofessional. As someone with a busy schedule, I took PTO specifically to attend this appointment. I would have preferred rescheduling for a day the dentist was available rather than making an unnecessary visit. It's unfair to make that decision on behalf of patients, prioritizing potential revenue over transparency. Additionally, X-rays were taken despite the dentist being unavailable to review them, which is especially concerning given that insurance only covers X-rays once per year. Even so, I chose to give the office another chance, as the dental hygienist I saw was exceptional. When I scheduled a follow-up appointment, I requested explicitly to see the dentist to review my prior scans. Once again, however, I was canceled on - despite having taken additional time off to attend this appointment.Given the prior circumstances, staff should have ensured that the appointment aligned with the dentist's availability prior to confirming my appointment . I was willing to give this place a honest second chance- unfortunate that they met the same standards of practice that was exhibited during my first appointment. To be clear, I am human and understand the need to cancel appointments at time. However, the admitted dishonesty to retain customers, lack of transparency until after X-rays were received, and lack of diligence in scheduling a second appointment (for service I should have received in the first) , is why I will no longer be a patient at Hillsboro Dental Excellence.

They are always so kind, work with your budget and schedule, I've never felt that they try to oversell me on anything. The hygienists are all very friendly and wonderful at their jobs. They give you a cute goodie bag after every cleaning with floss/toothbrush and toothpaste. I feel like they truly care for each person as an individual and don't rush through things. They've recently moved and the new office is gorgeous! Spacious and clean, they still have their cute clown fish and larger waiting area. I didn't have insurance until recently and they helped me out with their personal insurance/dental program. They also told me about care credit which helped cover me when I couldn't afford what was needed but didn't want to space the fillings out over time... Which was a totally viable option that they offered me. I truly believe if you come here you won't be happy anywhere else!

Because of that, my previous…read morereviews have mainly hinged on my hygienist (who is fantastic, by the way) because they are the person I see the most. Maybe you see the dentist for a filling or a more complex appointment - a root canal or a crown. Even those tend to be things you schedule at least. Today I had the "opportunity" to assess how North Hills treats their patients in a less common situation - I tripped and broke off part of my front tooth, leaving it ragged and sharp and leaving me freaked out and stressed. I came as a walk-in to a fully booked day, and still received the kindest care I could have hoped for. No promises it would/could be taken care of immediately, but that they could assess it and make a plan. In fact, Dr Rowly was able to do a temporary fix for me, and staff was able to get me in next week for the permanent repair. With luck, this is a once in a lifetime event for me - but the absolute professionalism, care and concern I was afforded was everything I could have hoped for and more. I landed with North Hills because my previous dentist retired. Wow did I luck out. If you are looking for a new dental home, North Hills has a lot to offer. To the entire team today - including those at the front desk who were pretty awesome too - thank you. I was very stressed; a lot more than I let on. You all were just the best.
