I already knew shooting was not automatic for me. I had some bad habits. Well, maybe I had a lot of bad habits. Sandy assesses your level: beginner, intermediate, expert. Then he helps you make your gun handling and shooting MUCH more smooth and effective. In my case, I signed up for a private lesson. As a woman, I was used to shooting rifles (had livestock and therefore problem predators occasionally), but not my handguns. When I bought a new handgun, I wanted to get training on handling and shooting it, quickly, effectively, and accurately. That's what I'm getting. And can't believe what I've learned already to prevent jamming, to increase speed while keeping accuracy, etc. And his rates? Very affordable. And great gun range out in the country: perfect place to learn. Sandy teaches all levels, from beginners to professionals, from personal protection to concealed carry. I know a good instructor when I see one. Very methodical, starts from where you are, helps you correct what you need to, allows you to repeat until you develop "second nature," and then advances you to the next step to meet your identified goals. And I'm an "old school" army brat, so I also know when the instructor knows his business in that area too for more advanced users. And, yes, I've signed up for more individual instruction.

I recently moved to Texas and wanted to get my License To Carry (LTC), so I did a brief search on…read morethe interwebz and lo and behold I found this place near my apartment, so I signed up! First let me say that I am new to this whole process and relatively new to firearms. I shot basic qualifications in the Air Force but nothing too crazy and I've only really shot with friends at a few ranges. So aside from wanting to get my LTC, I also wanted to learn "the right way" in general, and this company exceeded my expectations. First, the class is a one day thing, so you don't have to go back on any other days, it's a one-shot (see what I did there?) deal. I initially signed up for a class on a Friday, and it was cancelled due to extreme rain. However, they offered a $10 discount to reschedule, which was a nice gesture. So I rescheduled for a Sunday and had better luck. Also, they have classes on weekdays and weekends to fit your schedule, so that was also nice. The instructors, Phil and Cesare, are both excellent. They are both active duty police firearms instructors ans have over 20 years of teaching experienc. The class was fairly small, only 18 people. I've read of some other companies that have much larger classes, but I prefer smaller and it made for a friendly environment. The class consists of two portions, the range and the classroom. The range portion is actually a lot of fun and the instructors are 100% safety oriented and they explain everything in great detail as well as instruct you step by step on your qualification. You can also ask any and all questions and they will answer and help you. The classroom portion is extremely informative in many subjects. The instructors walk you through applicable state laws (there are many) and even though the new LTC state requirements are a condensed version of the requirements in previous years, they do a great job covering quite a bit of information. They do so with professionalism and a sense of humor, the kind you might expect from seasoned veterans! One more thing; aside from covering legal aspects of LTC, they teach you psychological aspects and you leave the class feeling informed and also a sense of responsibility. The classroom itself is nice and comfortable, and there are snacks, coffee, water, etc. You pay the initial portion (a deposit) online and the remaining portion at the class with cash, check, or card. They offer a discount for paying by cash or card, which I took advantage of. The class is $89, but I did end up getting $14 off because of the rain and because I paid cash. After the class is completed, they send step by step instructions via email on how to complete your LTC process with the state. Aside from that, Phil is available via cell phone for any questions. All in all a great experience, very professional, very safety-oriented, and most of all I will definitely be back for some of their other courses. Highly recommend.

Nothing in the online enrollment flow or the Prosper pricing section made that timing clear in a straightforward way. The location page highlights simple monthly prices (for example, $120 based on a 4‑week month billed monthly per class), but it does not clearly state, in plain language on that same screen, that: - You will be **charged immediately at enrollment** for a full month of tuition, even if your first lesson is weeks away, and - Ongoing tuition is then **billed in advance** of future months. I only understood what happened after I went searching and eventually found SafeSplash's Terms & Conditions / School Policies page. That page is not obvious from the location or pricing section; you either have to notice a generic "School Policies" link in the footer or go hunting via search. Once you get there, the key billing information is buried deep in a long, legal‑style document, written in dense policy language instead of clear, parent‑friendly English. Buried in that text is the explanation that they take your first month of tuition at enrollment and then bill monthly on the 25th for the following month's lessons. That policy might be acceptable if it were plainly disclosed where parents actually sign up. The problem--and the reason for this review--is how hard it is to discover and understand these terms before you see a charge. This review is a reaction to the lack of up‑front clarity: it should not require digging through a hard‑to‑find, legally worded policy page to learn that you'll be billed weeks in advance of your child's first class. Based on my experience of being charged in April for May lessons and then having to reverse‑engineer the policy after the fact, I do not find their billing communication transparent or parent‑friendly, and I would not recommend this location.
