I visited Marjory's shop 'on spec' as I am an avid knitter, have been for many years, and required some yarn for baby patterns I had purchased elsewhere. On finding the 'required yarn' I was thrilled, as I had searched high and low for this particular wool. I attempted to pay and was advised by a rather stern middle aged lady that " I needed to buy the pattern along with the yarn." Although I had explained that I had a number of patterns which this yarn matched I was very rudely advised that I could not buy the wool without a pattern.
From reading previous reviews it would seem that I either visited the shop when the assistant was 'having a bad day' or I was just unlucky that the shop policy was adhered to so strictly and with venom by this particular assistant, or indeed it may have been Marjory herself and she has no time for customers who want to just buy 4 balls of wool and no pattern.
Needless to say I left Marjory's shop without the desired wool and with a 'flee in my ear'. Wont be back there I'm afraid. Dont need nasty assistants, or shop owners who are unhelpful, regardless of the shop 'policy', which is a real shame as I have many friends in my 'knitting bee' who would have been happy to shop in "Marjory's Wool Shop".
This is so unfortunate, as I collect wool, yarn patterns, cross stitch, embroidery, needlepoint and am learning crotchet and tatting and would be happy to shop locally in Holmlea Road.
I'm afraid it's back to Hobbycraft at Glasgow Fort or online for me and my friends now. read more
