It opens at 5 pm. Dunno why it said opened prior. We ordered the snails, pre dinner drink and the pork knuckle. Snails were nicely cooked in butter and herbs. The pre dinner drink was interesting. Sausage with mustard on top of a shot. Suppose to open up your appetite. It's pretty good. Besides, why not?! The pork was cooked well. Not overly cooked like some places. The gravy was so good. Don't forget to have some wine with your meal

Traditional eastern Prussian food served here. If you are searching for an authentic German meal this is your place. Started the meal with a shot of Korn (clear schnaps with a slice of Liverwurst balanced on the glass. The Sauerampfer soup is mildly sour herbal soup which was followed with Sauerbraten - a brined beef roast with a potato dumpling. The owners are very welcoming and will help you decide. Would have loved to try the Königsberger Klöpse - next time.

Our last night in Europe and after all the walking, I was looking for something close and traditional. We got way more than that! This cute little place is amazing. It has a nice ambiance, with excellent service, good drinks, and mind blowing food. I had the schlesisches himmelreich and it was amazing. It was smoked pork with baked fruits (plums, pears, and apricots) and a yeast dumpling. My husband had a chanterelle soup and the goose appetizer. My mil had filettopf Marjellchen and my fil had the peppersteak. We've eating a lot of good food on our trip but this restaurant was by far the best we've eaten. To finish we split the apple dumplings which was small but perfect for our full little bellies. Come here and you won't be disappointed. The owner is super sweet too and will take great care of you.

Phenomenal cuisine in Berlin! We ate early so we didn't need a reservation for dinner. The same suggestions others say for the generous portions and trying the wild boar stew and the lamb filet. I really liked the side dishes also of potatoes & red cabbage. My friend tried the duck and it was very flavorful but lots of work taking it out of the skin and off the bones. My wine was a lovely Riesling and the service was great!

A traditional German restaurant with all the trimmings. I remarked on how large the duck was and was promptly told I didn't order pigeon. Old world charm, decor, flavours and European matter of fact sense of humour. I haven't felt this full since Christmas. Herring, goose, deer ham, smoked eel, gooseberry, smoked fish, a very large duck and pork knuckle. Now I know why digestives were invented. I highly recommend the charming Restaurant Marjellchen if you happen to be in Berlin.

This was the recommended place that came up when we looked up for good.'German' food in Berlin. Honestly, the service was not that good but the food makes up for it. Would recommend the pork knuckle and than the duck special.

Old fashioned fun. Sometimes the service is a bit overwhelmed by its renown. Traditional Baltic-German dishes, modest prices, Atmosphäre.

As an visitor from the U.S., I was craving authentic German cuisine on our first night in Berlin…read more Since our hotel was in the shopping district of Berlin, we had less than a 15-minute walk to get to Berlinchen. Upon arrival, we were asked where we wanted to sit, though we were advised that sitting outside was cooler than sitting inside. So we did just that. As they receive many tourists, they had the ingredients in English under each dish. Our server was friendly and showed us all the photos of the dishes on his iPad, which was helpful as we were not familiar with many of the dishes. He also let us know what items were not included on the menu and showed us the photos. We all ordered still water (in bottles), the Berliner Weisse, and beers. For myself, I ordered the Beef Gulasch with egg noodles (Rinder-Gulasch mit Pilzen & Spatzle). My husband ordered the giant currywurst with french fries (Berliner Currywurst XL mit Pommes frites). My parents ordered a salad and one of the non-menu special dishes that had pork loin, gulasch, bean sprouts, and mashed potatoes. The Rinder-Gulasch mit Pilzen & Spatzle had an enormous portion of egg noodles compared to the amount of the beef gulasch. However, since the gulasch was on the saltier side, eating the gulasch along with heaping amounts of the egg noodles helped balance out the taste. The beef was also tender and paired well with the texture of the egg noodle. The Berliner Currywurst XL mit Pommes frites was... interesting. I was expecting the currywurst to have a meaty texture, but when I bit into it, I found the texture spongey like tofu. If I was told the currywurst was vegan, I would have believed it. I think they should have included more of the sauce (ketchup) that came with it, but again, this is Germany, and you have to request and pay for anything extra here. My husband, who typically eats heavy, could not finish this plate as we were all sampling each other's food and he really liked my Rinder-Gulasch. When we come back to Berlin, we would love to try the other items on their menu. I highly recommend this place!

We came here after having been turned away by an Indonesian restaurant that was "full for the night". We are so glad that fate brought us here instead of that Indonesian restaurant!! What were we even thinking anyway -- forget the Indonesian food, get the local specialities!! Ordered the schnitzel as well as the meatballs and both were executed perfectly. Schnitzel was hot and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside -- not overly salty either. Meatballs were juicy and packed with flavor from the minced onions that they had mixed in. The beer (we ordered a Pilsner) was the best that we had tried in all of the Berlin and Dresden restaurants that we visited. I believe it is from some small private brewery affiliated with the restaurant somehow. Whatever they are doing, they are doing it right, so definitely order the house beer. Super cozy seating (you'll probably be sharing a table with other guests) and packed all night long but amazing vibes and casual comfort food. Would come back if I ever visit Berlin again!

But when I arrived the doors were locked. Couldn't get in. No one answered. Yelp said they were open, Google said they were open, even their own posted hours on their own door/window said they were open. But they weren't. No handwritten note of explanation, no "sorry, be right back," just nothing but a locked door and confusion. (And for the record, I speak German so I would've recognized and understood it if they had written something in German) So at this point I have absolutely nothing to recommend about this place. I couldn't even recommend showing up and trying because they might be randomly closed even when they're supposed to be open. I understand that life happens, emergencies can pop up, workers can call in sick, etc. But as a responsible business owner you need to at least let your customers know that something happened. Simply having them arrive and pull at the door confused isn't good business. If there had been some kind of note I would've been disappointed but not upset. I would've waited to write this review until I had gotten a chance to try it. But that kind of lack of concern for customers said enough all by itself.

My parents are in town for the holidays, and when making a list of things they want to do and see,…read morethey said they wanted authentic Käsespätzle. OK, easy enough. But a place that serves Käsespätzle that's good AND vegan dishes? A tall order. Or maybe it was five years ago. Now more and more places have vegan options that aren't just potatoes and mushrooms. So I compiled a list of spots in town with good reviews of Käsespätzle and one or two vegan entrees, and sent it over. They looked at the list and decided that Die Feinbäckerei looked best to them. So we called and made a reservation. We showed up at 3pm on a Saturday, just as they were opening, and it was quiet, with only one other table. My parents and son all ordered the classic Käsespätzle and I got the vegan Maultauschen made of beets. Let's just say, we all were pleased with our meals. The food was excellent in taste and quality, and the portions were huge. My son also wanted Kaiserschmarrn -- a dish that is for two... at least -- but no one else had room to share. So he ate it (and loved it) and we took the rest home with us, which he ate the next day. Our service was also excellent! And the place was really cozy and unassuming. As we were leaving, it was starting to fill up, so although we didn't need reservations, definitely get them if you're coming for dinner. And although it's a bit of a trek from my side of town, I wouldn't think twice about coming back again.

The outside reveals nothing about this wonderful restaurant. We opened the door and were immediately greeted by a number of patrons at the cozy bar. This is a non smoking bar so none of that pesky smoke! We walked through the tiny bar to the dining area in the back. There are only a few tables so keep your fingers crossed that you get one! The bartender greeted us with menus and took our drink order. The Chef came out and said "I am here to take your order since I am cooking it!" She was very pleasant and ready to please. My wife ordered a small side salad and I ordered Weiner Schnitzel. The Chef was unimpressed with my wife's order and chastised her for watching her figure! I wanted french frys but the Chef encouraged me to try her homemade fried potatoes with the promise that I wouldn't be disappointed. I wasn't! When the food came out the Chef told my wife that she had brought two pieces of toast in addition to the small salad because one can not exist on salad alone and by the way, she had placed extra large portions of Schnitzel and potatoes on my plate because she was confident that my wife would want some of mine. She wasn't wrong with that analysis. The food was delicious, the service was outstanding and this is sure to be a regular stop for us while we are in Berlin. This is like taking a step back in German dining history. The Chef was also the owner and took great pride in providing us with a memorable meal!
