This place is down the street from one of my offices and I decided to take a walk and pick up some ceviche for lunch. I was really impressed with the decor and layout of the restaurant. There was some road construction out front and assumed the place would be empty, but I WAS WRONG! I was greeted immediately by a kind gentleman who worked with me in ordering exactly what I wanted. I couldn't decide between a tostada de ceviche de camarón or a tostada de jaiba (imitation crab meat) so I asked if I could have a bit of both. He agreed. I payed and waited probably less than 10 minutes for my order. They even set my tostadas on the side so they wouldn't get soggy! I did dock a star because once I made it back to the office, I opened my plate and it was a large portion of food, but the jaiba was not marinated in lime nor seasoned at all... Just dry. The camarón ceviche beneath it was perfect. I did try my best to mix it up best I could. It wasn't bad, the food was flavorful, I'm sure had I made a choice of one or the other there probably wouldn't have been any issues. Also, I was pleasantly surprised at the extra limes, salt and Valentina packets that came with it. They thought of everything: fork, plate, napkins. Loved that. This is why I'm always coming back to my hometown..... one night we were in town visiting family and we were indecisive on dinner. I said... let's go to a place we haven't went to yet. So when we dined in, there were already a few families eating and shortly after more people started coming in. The staff was super friendly and was on top of their game. The girls were pretty quick with service. Restaurant looks nice and clean inside. There's tons of seating for big parties. Food was delicious. I would definitely come back. I'm a seafood lover and they cooked everything really good. The appetizer they give are tostada shells and salsa and they give you a lot. Salsa is damn good. I told my husband I wish I could buy a tub of that salsa haha. We will definitely come back. Parking is not an issue, prices are fair. Of course they are serving seafood so it's higher priced than other Mexican restaurants in town. If you haven't stopped by yet, then you need to check it out. We ordered a huge take out order for lunch. It was the shrimp empanadas and trays of fish and shrimp tacos. Our office raved about the fish tacos. The empanada dough was chewy. It's not supposed to be chewy, but rather flaky. Other than very spicy green or red sauce, there wasn't any other sauce. The empanadas were a bust for the team. The fish taco was the bomb. Everyone loved them. The shrimp tacos were a bit on the dryer side. I think we'll just stick with the Caldo's, ceviche, aguachillis, tostadas. Looks like people are raving these goodies. Wasn't sure what I wanted to have for lunch today working in Delano. I did know that I wanted to mix it up and Mexican seafood sounded perfect. Saw the good reviews this restaurant received on here and decided to give it a try. My first impression of the restaurant is that it looks like they worked hard to create the perfect ambiance for this style if restaurant. Cozy and modern. Then there's the menu. 8!pages of Mexican seafood faire (most of which I didn't know even existed)! I went with the Caldo Mixto seafood soup and it did not disappoint. The broth was delicious and it was loaded with shrimp, dish, octopus..etc. Very delicious. On the service side that waitress was fast, friendly and efficient. One nitpick was that it took me nearly 30 minutes to get my lunch but it was so delicious I almost forgot that I needed to hurry to get back to work. Delano isn't known for their mariscos restaurants. This spot just might change that. The menu is vast with various seafood dishes, including soups and appetizers. My husband and I had the tacos gobernador and the shrimp soup. Both dishes were flavorful and fresh. Chips and salsa are complimentary and are also very tasty. The restaurant does not have a full bar but they do serve margaritas, micheladas and bottled beer. There are plenty of tables and the vibe is classic Mexican kitchen style. The food was really good and the portions were very big I had the small octopus and shrimp cocktail and it was packed to the rim, my wife had the garlic shrimp I also had the fried red snapper. It was very well cooked and came with refried beans, fries, salad, and fries. both our plates came with a spicy salsa that appeared to be just crushed Serrano. That was very good. and very spicy. if I could critique one thing, it would be that none of the girls ever smiled except for the girl that was busing tables,. Excellent! We've been here several times and have always been served fresh and delicious mariscos dishes. There menu is large, so you'll find something to please everyone. The restaurant is maintained clean and the staff are all super friendly and accommodating. This is our new favorite in Delano! From the fish dishes to the fajita dishes, you can't go wrong. Everything is seasoned to perfection and so fresh. We love this place. Be sure to ask for a variety of their salsas. They range from very hot to mild and are really delicious! We stopped here for dinner on our way to Joshua Tree National Park and the food was delicious. My daughters both got the kids cheeseburger which was incredibly flavorful. You can never go wrong with Las Islitas. I normally go to the one in Bakersfield but this one met my expectations as well. I got the molcajete and those never disappoint. The food is delicious! My husband got a 7 mares and the portion was pretty considerate! The price was really rational due to the fact that seafood is expensive. I got tacos el governador (3 shrimp tacos with cheese, a little side salad and a portion of white rice with veggies). The staff was really nice and they help you right away. They were super busy but the environment was pretty relax. They had live Mexican music and they go straight to your table to play whatever song you want, they are really good musicians.
