Super disappointed and grossed out. I went threw the drive thru and got a sopa de Mariscos.. As I'm eating it I noticed a tiny hair. I take it out and move the soup around I noticed another bigger hair. And you can tell it's a man's hair! I called them to tell them and the lady who answered the phone tells me she's gonna pass me the manager, but as I'm waiting she picks up the phone again and tells me that the "Manager Manuel" which is supposedly the son of the owner. Said that there's nothing they can do since it was take out. Definitely do no recommend coming here!!

Complimentary caldo that I ate before picture and ceviche sample.

Great find! Looks like this is where the locals go, which is a good sign. Both the red and green sauce served with the chips were great! Surprised to be served soup before the entree, which was very good. I had grilled garlic fish filet. Very generous portion, very tasty. The only thing - I didn't see on the menu what sides came with the entree. It had rice, which was good, and also fries. I don't eat fries, so had I known, I would have asked for extra rice instead.

If you love seafood GO to Mariscos Mares!! I love seafood and couldn't wait to check out this family owned business with an average Yelp 5 star status. Mariscos Mares didn't disappoint in the slightest with fresh flavors, generous portions, attentive, super friendly service and a menu in Spanish/English. Top seven highlights here is the amazing food, affordable prices, fast service, the restaurant can handle large groups, offers daily lunch specials, coupons available online and live music on Sundays. What else do you need?! The majority of the fish can be grilled or fried and then you select from 5 different styles to have your Filets prepared (try A la Diabla Style). If Whole Fish is your thing then check out the Red Snapper or Whole Tilapia. The Octopus Entrée is new for me but I'm told traditionally cooked in either Garlic Butter or Garlic and Guajillo Chili. I have trouble eating whole fish or Octopus that still looks like it was just caught so I had to pass. I was insanely craving diced and chunky Ceviche but preferred Aguachiles which is a spicy shrimp ceviche cooked in lime and chilies. Here you have 3 options of chili peppers (Red Jalapenos, Serrano Green or Habanero) for the Aguachiles. Love that!!!! Appetizer suggestions are the Shrimp or Ceviche Tostadas ($10.99/$9.99) come 3 to an order. Or go for the Shrimp, Oyster or Campechana (mixed seafood) Cocktail. The Cocktails have 3 size options, (small, medium or large) and the Medium size could easily be a meal in itself. Delightful!! Don't overlook the 4 types of Soups ($7.99 - $11.99) as an appetizer or entrée. I had a difficult decision deciding between the 3 sizes of Ceviche since I was craving (small $6.99, medium $10.99, and large $15.99). I ordered the medium but of course, my eyes were larger than my belly but excellent layers of flavors with the Shrimp, lime, onions and cilantro. I'm still thinking about the Aguachiles and wish I lived closer. I was so happy devouring as much Ceviche as possible. The Fish Soup steams your face in a marvelous fish and cilantro aroma. The large is affordable at $7.99. The broth was excellent with white flaky fish and garnished with avocado and cilantro. Highly recommend the Soups. The Fish Tacos ($7.99 for 4) were scrumptious, fresh with light and flaky Fish and perfectly cooked Shrimp. We split the order of 4 between 2 Fish and 2 Shrimp so we could sample 2 out of the 3 types of seafood available. So you ask what kind of seafood do they offer? We saw Shrimp, Oysters, Scallop Aquachile, Tilapia (Filets or Whole), Octopus, and Whole Red Snapper on the menu. The Tilapia and Red Snapper can be Fried or Grilled and you select from 5 different styles of preparation (try A la Diabla). Non-seafood folks have Beef or Chicken Fajitas or Cheeseburger options. Whether you go for a light lunch or dinner, I think you'll be glad you tried Mariscos El 7 Mares. I only wish I didn't live 1,400 miles away but on my list when I return to Mission. Go often for me.

Another recent discovery here in Mission, TX. This small restaurant is off the main road in a strip…read moremall and seats maybe 40-50 people. The menu is simple but offers some variety. We were served a small plate with warm, crisp tortilla chips that were sprinkled with a seasoned powder (not Tajin) that was pretty salty. I shook off the powder as it made them too salty, even for my tastes. The greenish salsa was also a little salty but VERY TASTY and had a little kick. From where we were seated I observed the cook blackening the tomatillos on a grill in the kitchen. These were the backbone of this salsa. If it weren't quite so salty I'd be raving about them. I ordered a platter with three main items - Lonches, Sincronizada and Street tacos. All three items must be filled with the same protein, so I chose Birria. Other choices include pollo, bistek, trompo and fajita. The birria was nice and juicy and well seasoned. The Lonches were larger pieces of bread than I'm accustomed to finding, especially in Progresso, where they are quite popular. They were also toasted it seemed instead of being soft and pillowy. The street tacos were excellent with toppings of red onion and cilantro. The Sincronizada was something I'd never eaten before and was a smaller version of the one they serve as a main course. It was not the traditional dish which comes with slices of ham, but it was pretty good filled with birria. Charro beans were also served if I remember correctly. I ate one of the lonches, one of the tacos (the other I gave to my son) and the Sincronizada and was stuffed; leftovers for a later meal. The wife ordered the full version of a Sincronizada filled with pollo (chicken) and wasn't able to even finish half of it. It was huge! They brought us two bottles of salsa - a green salsa and a reddish/orange salsa. Both were pretty hot by my standards and the reddish one would absolutely hurt you if you added too much. So... a word to the wise... caution advised. They were quite tasty. All in all we will come back. I particularly want to try out some of their other proteins and their fajitas.

Ana Liz Taquería is located a few blocks north of Expressway 83 in Mission on the west side of Conway. Parking in the front is quite limited, but there is additional parking in the back. I found the taquería small but bright, clean, and pleasant inside. I was welcomed as I entered by one of the several friendly employees who handed me a menu (English on one side, Spanish on the other). She informed me of the protocol: order and pay at the window, then I'd be given a number to place at my table, and my order would be brought to me. The menu has many entrees that sounded wonderful: various kinds of tacos, tostadas, flautas, quesadillas, botanas, and other antojitos. I ordered the chile relleno taco, the alambre taco, and vampiro, all with fajita meat. I thought the chile relleno taco would be my favorite because I love any kind of chile relleno. While I did absolutely love it, I was captivated by the deliciousness of the fajita vampiro which includes melted cheese, guacamole, juicy fajita chunks, and pico de gallo... oh my! It was heavenly! One of the things that stood out to me was that the beef was not over-cooked as most taquerías do... This was cooked to perfection, still juicy, and well seasoned. To accompany the food, the server brought out an assortment of salsas, some fresh Mexican style cream, and some lime. I tried all the salsas except for one ( salsa macha). They were all excellent and ranged from mild to medium spiciness. Something else worth noting is the import their corn, and make their own tortillas. The vampiro was made with blue Mexican corn. For drinks, I ordered the limonada which they provide freshly bottled with a glass of ice. It was a perfect blend. Some reviewers mentioned the price... yes. The prices are higher here than at most taquerías. However, considering the exceptional quality, flavor, and service, AND that they are a James Beard Award winning establishment... it is well worth it. Ana Liz Taquería is 20 miles away from where I live, but I will definitely be back when I want some extra special Mexican tacos!

The hands-down best taco restaurant I've ever been to (including taquerias I've been to in Mexico…read moreand in Texas' biggest cities). The vampiros are so insanely delicious, I regret not filling up on them when I order anything else. Their tortillas and fajita are really good too. The restaurant itself is nothing crazy, very mom and pop, and the parking is a tough situation. Very crowded lot. Service is also not phenomenal but the food is absolutely delicious! One feature of their service I'd love for them to fix: when you order, you wait in line at a window before being seated. If you decide later you want a single extra taco, you have to go get back in line AND they take just as long as they took to bring your food originally so if you don't order something initially, it'll take so long to get it after the fact that you'll wish you just left. Customers who are already seated should be able to order with waitstaff and not wait in line again for twenty minutes. That does not make sense.
