Tasty or WasteY??? A little bit of both!!!!…read moreFirst of all, I just had a pupusa here yesterday. It took almost 25 minutes for them to make it after they told me they are premade. Which was so annoying, especially in this heat. And then I asked for an extra side of the salsa they give you and she said sure I'll put it in the bag. She put nothing. They give you a half of a little cup of the sauce and a baggie full of that cabbage which gets all over when you rip the bag open. Everything looks much better in the pictures that are posted but that is not what you get. I don't know if I would recommend this place but if somebody can recommend a good place for me to pick one up. I would appreciate it.

Even though they were busy, the waitress was very efficient and provided great service. My hubby had the carne asada platter with corn tortillas, and I ordered a chile relleno alacarte and a sopa with grilled chicken alacarte . My sopa was a little too crunchy (the masa base) but the flavors were good. I asked for green sauce, and it was more like a creamy white sauce, but still ok. We had a favorite Mexican restaurant that we went to in our hometown, the next city over, but since it shut down a year ago, we might make this our new go to place.

I love a great fish taco, but when in Turlock, it's all about the meat. The tacos don't disappoint, but it's the fresh tortillas and their sauce that puts them on top. Burrito: Shell on the outside was fried on the grill and had a delicious crunch like texture to it. The cheese was also melted/fried on to the shell which was just lovely! Carne asada was solid. I wouldn't say it was anything super special but it had enough flavor and I didn't have any annoying chewy pieces. One thing that surprised me was how hot the burrito was. It was so hot I actually couldn't eat it for nearly 10 minutes. That's not a complaint, more of a compliment. Most of the burrito I touch have long since cooled. Lara's takes a lot of pride in what they do and I loved the burrito! 8.3/10
