I dine at Mariscos Altamar in Los Lunas often but no more. The owner thought it was a good idea to promote the Trump MAGAS on tv while we were eating. After about 30 minutes of it I asked the owner to turn it off. He said no, and then said people weren't supposed to talk politics there. I said he could show video of Trump, but if you were opposed to it you weren't allowed to talk about it? He said it was his right to show it. So if you are MAGA, you will love the trolling. If not--shut up and eat. Yeah, naw. We are from the neighborhood and because of his offensive trolling we will never go back there. There were 3 tables and approx 6 customers at 5pm. We ordered the Fajitas combo 2 with beef and shrimp. $17. This was the best fajitas we have had in recent memory. We have stopped ordering fajitas in general since they usually don't have much flavor. But, these were very flavory and came with twice the amount of veggies we get elsewhere which made for plenty of plump fajitas that were juicy and tasty. The staff was fast and helpful. I was so excited to try this place but my husband was skeptical. We ordered the taco box, the pic I saw on here looked great but was subpar. 12 tacos plus rice and beans for $33 is a bit pricey, especially considering how small the tacos were. I know street tacos are small but they were almost chip size and the Carne asada tacos were dry and did not even come with the usual onions and cilantro. The shrimp tacos had good flavor but again were so small, unless they were baby shrimp, it wasn't even a whole shrimp per taco, more like pieces of a shrimp. Needless to say my husband had to order to-go from Chili's next door to fill him up. We didn't bother complaining because they know what they sold us, they know what they are selling. You can't tell me the "taco" in the pic doesn't look sad. Also, I forgot to mention that they charged us for chips and salsa. The last few times we went here nothing was right, from drinks to service. Infact the last time we went I could not get our waiter to even bring cups of water for the kids. I should not have to dress like my wallet to get decent service. We waited over an hour for 4 plates, and I watched tables come and leave before we got food. On top of that we didn't get everything we ordered, refills were not happening at all, and then the waiter was quick to point out he could take our payment when we barely got our food. While visiting my mom in Albuquerque, I was able to spend a couple of hours with a cousin who wanted take me out to eat. I had no idea that they had opened a Mariscos Altamar in Los Lunas. I think it may be better than the original on Coors Blvd. We ordered a queso fundido with chorizo. We also ordered a couple os fish. The food was great. As far as food goes, this place is simply just ok. It's pretty overpriced for the quality and Mexican food tastes quite bland for being in New Mexico. But the item I had the biggest issue with, was the oysters. Let me start by saying that I absolutely love oysters and eat them every chance I get. I've never had them within New Mexico because I'm skeptical of how fresh seafood in NM can be, but I decided to let my guard down and give Marisco's oysters a try. They were ABSOLUTELY ATROCIOUS!!!! I normally don't leave reviews however this experience has made me very disappointed. We have previously ordered from here and have even eaten in the restaurant itself. Service has been top notch and the food very good. This time not so much. Wife ordered two of the crab enchiladas plates. Usually they are full of crab and very tasty. But this time very little crab full of vegetables. Refried beans were the same. The rice was the only satisfactory item. Kinda mad spent 37 hard earned dollars including the tip. I have ate at this spot a few times and the date and time of the visit is always different. I wanted to wait till I came a few times before giving my review. So the best time of day to come would be the afternoon however it's not to bad even during the busy time weekends/Evenings but you can tell the difference when there is a rush. I got the 4 combo plate my last visit and everything was good except for my tostada I took a bite right when it came and it was already soggy so that tells me it was sitting or when they added the chicken it's was just drenched in juices. Aside from that everything was delicious. On a previous visit we asked for a bigger bowl of salsa and got push back and we're told the small cups are what they give out. The music is always nice to listen to when with family because you'll always hear one of your family members singing or dancing to it. The decorations are lovely and really brings the place together.
