Unique experience because you go to the seafood display case to select what you would like and how you want it to prepared, then they will bring it to your table. Loved this place! Great location in the market. Browse the vendors (clothes, vintage, pottery - depending on the day) and stop in for an amazing seafood meal. We loved it so much we went numerous times for lunch after visiting the market. Here's how it works: - Grab a table. - Go to seafood counter and check out all the offerings. - Discuss and order what you want at the counter. - Order the menu food from your table We were also blown away by the offerings. So many varieties of crustaceans, some I had never heard of (and I really like to eat seafood). On the numerous visits, we tried a lot: - cardinal shrimp: AMAZING, has ruined shrimp for me. So delicious and enormous, really worth splitting one! - limpets: classic buttery, always wanted to have this dish - sea urchins: so fresh and delicious - razor clams: cooked in olive oil, garlic, and cilantro - really good - brown crab: full crab served room temperature with the dip made of the goo served with Melba toast. I gave 1 star because of the water view and I have to give a star to put my review. The customer service is awful. We wanted a table to have a fresh seafood lunch, because you have the possibility to choose your fresh live seafood at the counter . We have been told no table at the time ok no problem, we can wait at the bar. We decided to have drinks, after 30 Minutes wait the waiter decided to take our order , 20 Minutes later we had our drink, still no table available meanwhile few tables were empty. We had to run after the waitress to order some appetizers, she took our order, gooseneck barnacles, pulpo salad and a beer. This waitress 40 minutes later the waitress came with the gooseneck barnacles. At this point we asked for the check it was ridiculous. She had the nerves to bring the check included the pulpo salads we never received telling us you ordered it, yes we ordered and we never received the beer and the salads. This same waitress had the nerves to give us attitude because she had to update the bill. What a bad experience for a tourist. We went somewhere else to spend ou tourist money. read more

In the Marina this restaurant is delicious. Lots of great seafood. You have the option of picking our your fresh seafood out of the fish tank or on ice or you can order off of the menu. My sister ordered octopus not once but twice, I had the salted cod fish the first night and the second time I ate there I ate a fish I was able to pick out. The food is very good and the wine recommendation was excellent. The view's stunning. I would definitely go back!! read more

Place is complete trash. How do you run out of seafood as a seafood restaurant before dinner time even started? Seriously.... Bakalhau was over cooked, the seafood rice with lobster was complete garbage. They also didn't give our change back until we asked. Just go to McDonald's or get an uber into Lisbon. Or you know what, get the Piri Piri chicken in the area. Mucho bettero. read more

My wife and I were visiting Portugal and had this place recommended to us by our private tour guide the day before. We were amazed by the selection of fish and the knowledge of the staff, another reviewer on yelp (who clearly didn't do their research prior to traveling to Portugal) wrote how they treated her unfairly for being tourists, the whole bread and cheese thing on the table you can politely refuse, no big deal. That happens almost at every restaurant in Portugal. Anyway we started with the bread and cheese and had 4 delicious fresh oysters from the Algarve. Then we tried the fresh barnacle (pecedes) they were unique and flavorful. We then got the local clams cooked in the Portuguese way (sautéed with butter, garlic and coriander). We followed with a Tiger Prawn and a type of small fresh Lobster both steamed and fried served with butter, chips and rice with coriander. It was delicious and the person helping us caught the lobster out of the tank in front of us. This place is worth trying, we also had their fresh fruit white sangria and they had a special meat croquettes starter which were a delight! Prices are clearly marked and reasonable, especially considering the freshness of the fish. The other reviewer who complained probably ought to do her research before traveling to a destination and hating on their practices, etiquette and restaurants. Maybe as a start she should review her local Long John Silver, but I'll be sure to read her opinion next time I'm looking for a cup of froyo in Palm Springs, CA. read more

We went to this restaurant for Sunday evening dinner. - we sat for 45 minutes before someone even acknowledged we were there. It took us asking two different people if we could have service. When the waiter finally arrived we ordered and out of the 6 entrees ordered 3 were incorrect. We had to find the owner to receive a check to pay. The waiter was spending a lot of time chatting with the couple at another table and did not once come over to see if we needed anything/ wanted another drink or if our food was okay. read more

Codfish was way overcooked. Tasted like rubber essentially. Seafood was running out at early dinner time.

really good seafood place, you can order by the pound and get a variety of different seafood, they are all really fresh and they cook it right in the kitchen there for you, some of the dishes are cold, like the barnacles, but they are pretty good nonetheless read more

This is one of the new restaurants that were established when the old Cascais market was renovated and remodelled into the more contemporary mix of international streetfood & local products version. The market is well worth a visit, especially on Saturdays morning there are huge crowds. The restaurant is worth a visit too. Its nicely decorated and has an easy, modern touch. You choose your dishes (mostly seafood) at a counter and get served at your table. We had prawns and freshly cooked zapateira (thats a 25 min wait and you have to ask for it) and both were good quality though imho a little bit pricey. The service was friendly. I'd revisit the restaurant with friends from abroad not just for the atmosphere. read more

Went here 10 pm on Sunday night after arriving same day. Place is in old Seafood market. Open every day noon to midnight. Came at tail end of final Euro cup game between France and Portugal so outside tons of very loud fans watching game on huge screen.Friendly service but a bit slow as everyone was distracted by game which Portugal ended up winning. Not sure why folks on trip advisor complained about pricing. Everything labeled on seafood display as you walk in and pricing standard of any Cascais restaurant if you get charged by weight. Great selection of all things seafood although very little fish by that time of night. You order your seafood, tell them how you want it prepared and then sit down. Place is very rustic typical casual Portugal. Directly behind it on Wednesdays is the actual seafood market. Ordered 10 euro bottle of tasty Douro white. We started with 2 varieties of oysters(2 euro each). Impeccable freshness and my first oysters in Portugal. Followed by sautéed little clams with garlic olive oil and I think cilantro. Again impeccable freshness just a tad bit salty. Finished meal with one each of 2 varieties mega shrimp : one large Mozambique Tiger shrimp grilled to perfection and one large Red shrimp from Alentejo also grilled but a little over cooked. Served with rice with cilantro and extra side of broccoli. Rice day old tasting and undercooked. But shrimp also impeccable freshness. Whole meal $64 euros which given types and amount of seafood we got a bargain IMO. Overall would come back and recommend. Very nice for build your seafood dream dinner exactly as you want it. Great place for casual party and big groups. Not great for romantic night out as potential for very loud. read more

We came here for a seafood hit whilst in Cascais and we were not disappointed. The concept of the restaurant is that you prick the fish that you want and how much that you want which works well. However, it is not clear as some bits you have to order from the menu and others from the fish counter and the staff were all over the shop - it was not efficient. Yet, the food was really good we had prawns, tiger prawns and muscles and everything was cooked really well. For a different fish experience this would be the place! read more

The ordering process is to go to a seafood counter like in a market and the staff will weight the food, which will then be prepared from then on. This place is near a cool little outdoor market. However, we didn't have a great experience. The wait staff brought us a meat and cheese plate with a basket of bread as we sat down. We neither ordered it nor were asked. We were charged 1€ for the bread and 3€ for the meat and cheese plate. It felt like they were trying to take advantage of us as tourists, because the Portuguese couple at the table next to us weren't brought either. They did eventually order bread. As for the food, our two dishes were over-cooked. The prawn curry dish was a typical curry dish. The curry flavor was good. It seemed more like small shrimp and not what we anticipated with prawns. We'll chalk that up to lost in translation on our part. The shrimp were tough and overdone. We also ordered a cod dish, but received octopus instead. The octopus was very tough, a bit dry, and quite salty. We wouldn't recommend this place to other tourists as there was very little explanation on ordering fresh seafood dishes.
