I am only giving 2 stars because my annual exam itself was average in comparison to other gynecologists I've been to. This is my second year living in Miami and I did not have a good experience with the last gyno that I had been to so I thoguht I'd give Dr Messore a shot since it was close to where I live. Unfortunately, I had not read the reviews on here or I would not have gone. Here's my take...
I arrive at the office after already giving my insuance info over the phone when I had scheduled the appointment. They had told me that they take my insurance so there shouldn't be any problems. I arrive and fill out the paper work, pretty normal except for the last page of the paper work. On it, they ask to write down my credit card information in the case that my insurance doesn't pay their portion of my visit, then they would charge my credit card. Ummm.... hello? That's what a bill is for, right? And besides, I've never been to a doctor that has ever done that. Maybe its a Miami thing, but that's never happened to me. I am glad I asked the office staff about it because then they tell me that it is only an option to give that information. Maybe they should put that on the paper itself, instead of making people assume that they HAVE to complete this.
Anyway, I get throguh the paper work, wait about 10 minutes and they call me in. They didn't ask for a pee sample, which I've always done every time at previous gynos, they just asked me to use the bathroom before the exam due to the pressure that can be put on my bladder during the exam. When I went into the room, all was normal and I waited for Dr Messore to come in. And waited. And waited some more. I waited for a half hour in that room with just the paper robe on wondering if they had forgotten about me. When she finally came in she seemed very nice and knowledgeable. After the exam, she asked me about my birth control and I said I was very happy with it, especially since I use a coupon. She told me she would write me a RX for it again, but didn't think the coupon would work anymore, even though the expiration date said it expired at the end of this year... REALLY? She tried to push another birth control pill on me which I rejected.
Afterwards, I went to the front desk to check out. They decided to charge me my co-pay! I know since it was put into effect in 2011 that health insurance companies cover annual woman's exam at 100%, so I wouldn't have to pay a co-pay (I later even called my insuance to confirm, which they did and they also told me the office shouldn't have charged me). The office staff tells me its because they have to wait for the insurance to pay the rest, then I would have to call them back 60 days later and ask for a refund check from them. RIDICULOUS!!! Why should I wait 60 days for a refund check? And why wouldn't you just bill me if they didn't cover the co-pay???
I get the feeling that this office is shady and only wants to make a buck rather than having genuine concern for their patients' well-being... And after reading the previous reviews on here, I'm pretty certain about that. By the way, you have to pay $5 just to park... Save yourself a headache, co-pay, parking costs, and too long of an office visit and please go elsewhere! If any one else has another doctor they can recommend, please let me know!! read more
