Nice, small, local place to get a wide variety of beers. Create your own six-pack to sample any variety of year-round or seasonal favorites - a great way to find your next favorite stout or IPA. Located in the corner of a small (very small) strip mall, Mary's has a little bit of everything beer related, from the small to large, inexpensive ($1/bottle) to expensive ($10+/bottle). they also fill growlers, with discounted prices certain days of the week. Be sure to check out their facebook page for beer updates. They feature a revolving selection of around 10 beers on tap, which you can drink while you shop, or take home. they have several tables set up on one side so you can sit, drink, socialize and watch TV if you want. they also have a few video betting machines, plus slot machines. Small snacks, plus an ever-changing selection of beer glasses to purchase, usually $2/ea. This is one of our favorite places to go to pick up a few beers for the weekend, or to take some out of town microbrew lovers. The staff is usually very knowledgeable. read more

Fallen off a bit since the store changed hands, imo. Unquestionably large and diverse selection of microbrews, with many brews/breweries you wont find at any other local bottle shops or distributors. BUT the 4pack and single can prices are out of control high, imo. And check yr canning dates, because there is a TON of 4-6 month+ old product being sold at full price that cant possibly taste good anymore after sitting on the shelf at room temp for that long. Best bet is to follow them on social media and look for posts on new stock. They have several taps, as well. This place looks like an average beer distributor from the outside, but, once you walk inside it's like that scene from The Wizard of Oz where the film goes from black n white to color in the vibrant munchkin land! The place is hopping inside just like a bar. People standing around drinking, talking having a good time playing video slot machines etc. The selections of craft beers here are the BEST in Berks County! A pinch bit pricey but it is what it is. This is what I would imagine Wal-Mart would look like if an alcoholic took over! I love the fact that I can walk into this place and grab a 6 pack with 6 different beers. I am also exited that I do not have to drive to Wegman's in Collegeville to experience a variety like this. Actually I would have to admit the selection is much larger here at Mari's than Wegman's. Also another pleasant surprise was that Mari's offered a 20% discount per 6 pack, this was a sweetener! I am not sure if it was a sale for the day, but I sure did enjoy it. The selection as I mentioned is massive, they virtually have everything from individual beers (averaging at about $2.50 each) to beers on tap. Also if you want a mini keg for your beertender they have those too! Actually they have the mini kegs for a wide variety of beers. A ton of craft brews are available, and even your larger more popular craft brews like Sam Adams. I read some other reviews and there is concern that some beers may sit a while, this might be a concern, and would suggest reading Ryan D's review because he has some great tips on making sure you are not going to get a bad beer. I didn't have any quality issues with my beers. Bottom line this is one of the greatest distributors in Reading. There is only one suggestion that I would have for them - CARRY MORE CASES! I didn't see cases (24 packs) anywhere, but hey 6 pack is in the name of the place. I guess I like to buy my favorites in bulk. After a long day of creating Facebook and Twitter pages and housework, I wanted to get out of the house and explore an area of Reading I had never ventured to thus far. That is when I decided to head over to Mari's Six Pac and Mor to grab some brews. I had heard from some friends that the selection at Mari's was unbeatable, so naturally I had to find out for myself. Overall, Mari's delivered in almost every way. There was a huge variety of Pennsylvania locals, craft beers from all over the country, plus a whole section devoted just to Belgium. While I was diligently scouring every inch of shelf space at Mari's, I also found several rare beers not commonly found in the Reading area. Beers such as Firestone Walker Sucaba and Hopslam were readily available, but if you wanted them, you were going to pay a premium. My favorite part of the experience was grabbing an empty six pack and filling it with any 12oz. bottles from around the store. Although some of the beers can be pricey, if you fill up a sixer, a 20% discount is applied at checkout. This saved me more than just a couple bucks! I was delighted to see that they had expanded selections from breweries such as Dogfish Head, Sierra Nevada and Smuttynose, among dozens of others, that most stores usually only carry a select few. Unfortunately, having a massive selection carries one major downside for some brews. My biggest disappointment at Mari's was that many of the hoppy beers, like IPAs and pale ales, were much older than they should have been. After about a month or two, the hop flavor and aroma will drastically deteriorate, and lose much of what makes them desirable in the first place. If you are not sure if a beer is past its peak, here are two tips: 1. Check the bottle or case for a bottling or best by date. For hoppy beers, anything over 2-3 months old should be reconsidered before buying. 2. Hold up the bottle to the light. If you can see particles floating around inside the bottle, that means that it has been sitting for awhile and it's past its peak of freshness. The only way this method is misleading is if the beer is UNFILTERED. All unfiltered beers will have at least some sediment floating around inside the bottle. If this is stated on the bottle, then this method can be inaccurate. The positive side to certain beers sitting on the shelves longer is that many beers, like stouts and barley wines, grow more complex with aging. In this case, Mari's is doing some of the hard work for you. Besides from the bottled area, Mari's also has several beers on draft. The ones I noticed were Nugget Nectar, Brooklyn Chocolate Stout and ones by Dogfish Head and Flying Fish that escape me at the moment. From what I have heard, you can fill up growlers while there (don't quote me on this though). As long as you pay attention to what you grab at Mari's, there will undoubtedly be something for everyone. No matter what styles you are into, you will find more than enough to fill a sixer or two. Next time you're in the Reading area, stop by and enjoy this diamond in the rough. read more

In fact, I had driven by many times and never gave it a second glance. Then one day, a good friend told me what's inside this secret domain. So what's inside? Beer. Lots of wonderful beer! Imports, domestics, microbrews. Lagers, ales, Belgians and stouts. Great selections that you won't find anywhere around here. And they sell singles so you can mix and match. Great spot in the corner of a strip mall. I discovered this place this weekend and I'm so glad I did. This place is a beer lover's nirvana. They have a fantastic selection of craft beer along with a small,bar where we were able to try some selections before purchasing. The bartender/cashier was very knowledgable and was able to perfectly describe the beers and where to find them. It's so refreshing to find a local place that sells six packs and individual bottles so you don't need to buy a whole case of beer you don't like. My only suggestion is to make it easier to find the beer, for example maybe putting them In alphabetical order? Maybe there is an order but it wasn't evident to me. Since beer distributors can now sell 6 packs for about one year now, Mari's still stands out with selection of craft beer. It is still the best place to go to browse and select a 6 pack to go. I do have some unsolicited advice: I think this place would benefit of a new site that's larger in space. It has become quite popular as a destination to both buy 6 packs and also to hang out. The lighting is also pretty dark, a brighter interior might liven up the joint. I upgraded to 4 stars as their selection is still the best in Berks County, even after the competition rolled in. I will note that I only go here for 6 packs and not growlers or to hang out, so I cannot comment or factor that into the rating. I also have never asked for assistance from the staff, however I haven't had a bad experience with the staff. Same issues with the beer itself- just need to watch for dates on the bottle. I should ask how the aisles are organized, but normally when I go in here I browse and select a beer based on my flavor of the day. There are a ton of IPA's, but that's more a byproduct of the industry cranking out 10,000 different IPA styles (I like IPA's, but I personally think that style is more of an entry level style for beer enthusiasts). read more

When I stopped at this place with friends to pick up beer for a party, I expected your average beer depot with cases piled high with the usual stuff. Instead I walked into a full on beer lover's paradise! Since it was a Saturday, we arrived right in the middle of a beer tasting. The very knowledgeable Dave described each of the several beers he had to sample before pouring some to try. He also suggested many beers to try based on what we like and even told us about some hard to find beers that they had in stock. The store is also a bar, so after talking to Dave we walked over to sit and enjoy a pint on draft before we walked around and filled our six-packs with whatever we felt like trying. When we went to pay Mari, the owner, informed us that there was a 20% discount on mix and match six-packs, which was just icing on the cake! What I thought would be a routine beer run turned into a great experience and I can't wait to return next time I'm in Reading! read more

Having just moved to Reading, I was looking for a place to buy some good beer an Yelp didn't steer me wrong! When I drove to the place, I thought that surely I was going to be disappointed, but as I walked in, I felt like I was in a candy store! Racks upon racks of micro brewed beer! I walked up to the counter and got a pint of a delicious rye barrel-aged stout to enjoy while perusing the selections and ultimately put together a couple of six packs (with 20% discount!) to bring home with me. Stopped by today on a whim to get a mixed six-pack as a surprise for the Hubby. He is not a big beer guy, so a case goes stale before he finishes it. So Mari's is perfect since you can buy single beers or mix and match a six-pack and then get 20% off. There are so many beer choices, it made my non-beer drinking head spin. But they did have Seagram's wine coolers on special for 10 bottles for $10. Mmmm, something for me too. Also, the owner Mari is the nicest woman. I could not find a Japanese beer I was looking for and she said they could order it for me and have it in the next day. Talk about great customer service! Mari also told me they have beer tastings every Saturday afternoon. This is the kind of place that could really make you want to start drinking more. And I mean that in a good way!!! read more

Incredible store for any craft beer fan. They have a large selection of bottles and bombers, a mix and match 6 pack discount, and the best selection in the area by far. The owner and workers are extremely knowledgeable, incredibly passionate, and very friendly.
