The traffic was loud but we were still able to have a conversation. Whilst the restaurant was reasonably busy, we were not hurried by the wait staff. One of our party had the gnocchi and it was good. The three remaining had a share of three round pizzas. There were metre long pizzas at other tables but we decided to do the traditional. The pizzas were not overloaded with filling and the crusts were tough but edible. We joked with the waiter about the Fantasy pizza being made of leftovers. We are still in the dark as to what was the topping, but it was good. The Diavola was nicely hot. The three of us were able to polish off all three pizzas. On another table with eight people, two one metre long pizzas resulted in leftovers. I don't think they were trying hard enough as three of the group were schoolboys. The 50cm pizza can have two toppings and the one metre can have three toppings. An antipasti plate was delivered to another table and it looked pretty good too. They followed that with a metre long pizza. I would certainly be back for lunch but I have been assured there are queues of an evening for this place.

But even at one of the great places in the world - there are rules that need to be followed by the customer to make the most of the experience. You can't just throw darts at the menu and get something you will love. *** The major claim to fame of Vacanza is their San Marzano tomatoes and their superior bufala mozzarella. San Marzano tomatoes are way better than the red paint in a can that Americans put on pizza. But they are not enough to make a dish. Taking classicism and the house claims of the superiority of their base materials seriously, I ordered a margarita pizza, the first item on their pizza menu. The famous tomatoes. The famous cheese. Four leaves of basil. The End. It was not enough to produce something I would want to eat again. As boring as a date with an accountant. My wife of all people - the militant pescatarian in the room - got olives and ham on her pizza - but no cheese. She despises both olives and ham. I was in utter shock. I checked her for mental illness since she was totally out of character. She was fine. Her olives were amazing. Her ham was strong. Her cheese-less pizza was boring ... But the house does not offer cheese-less pizza on the menu. There is a reason for this and the wife had to put in special requests to get her way. I could see that neither of us had ordered well ... and that with care and planning - an amazing pizza could be had here. Get your pizza with a ton of ingredients on top and things could be very intriguing. Other note: the menu offers a number of pure cheese dishes using bufala and other stuff - no pizza crust. Those might be interesting indeed. * * * One last note. Samuel C. is not a wine drinker. Wine is really sort of mandatory here. Beer won't cut it. Water won't cut it. A serious red wine would have done much to improve the quality of my meal. * * * Australia is not only a major center for Italian food ... It is a major center for Indian food, for Chinese food, for their own excellent Australian food, and offers Sri Lankan cuisine ... a cuisine we never see in the United States. So I am not sure how much more pizza I am going to be having. But I will put in one petty sniveling remark. Here is Samuel C offering "whine" to go with his "wine." I am NOT a believer that ordering a plain simple dish at a good restaurant should give you a dull meal. I have had many pizza people say "You ordered a cheese pizza. What did you expect?" My counter to those people is Brazilian pao de queijo. Pao de queijo is one of the most intoxicating dishes in the world you can eat. It is a Mineiran dish that is served all over Brazil. It is merely bread baked with Brazilian cheese inside. It is addictive. You want more. They put out a breadbasket full of pao de queijo, you eat up the whole basket, you order seconds and there is no room left in your stomach for your meal. Offering pao de queijo early in the meal is one of the tricks Brazilian all you can eat rodizios offer to cut down on the expensive meat eaten by the customers. If the Brazilians can make one of the most magical foods in the world just using bread and cheese, How come Italians can't make something fascinating and good with bread, cheese and good tomatoes - giving them one more ingredient than the Brazilians use? Just saying.

We had a booking for 7 people including 3 kids and as we set down no one told us we have to be out in 1.5 hours. We waited for our food for half an hour and were told we have to leave as we were still finishing mains. We couldn't even order desert, we were told we have 10 minutes so if we want desert we have to do it in 10 minutes meaning we have to literally scarf it down. We were also refused one drink for one of our friends because of this, we could not order it. We were offered table outside it is cold and raining and we have children. This entire experience was definitely the worst I ever had in Sydney. We were treated awful the manager was abrasive and dismissive. He shouldn't work in hospitality! We are paying customers expected to scarf down the food pay and run so they can sit the next group. Please avoid this place if you can there are multiple places in the area with Italian food and better pizza that care for their customers. Our bill was just under $400 and all we got is ok food and horrible attitude running our evening. AVOID THIS HORRIBLE PLACE!!!

Anema E Core is a little restaurant (there is only two tables inside opposite their massive coffee machine and their indoor wood fired pizza oven, the rest of the tables are outside and with the weather being rainy they were not set up yet. We ordered the 4 Formaggi (Gorgonzola, Smoked buffalo Mozzarella, fiordilatte, Shaved Parmesan, basil, olive oil) Crudo E Rucola ( Rocket, prosciutto, shaved Parmesan, basil, olive oil) and for dessert the Nutella pizza all for takeaway. The base is ridiculously soft! I am in heaven. Nom nom nom I love this place! Staff are friendly and the chefs have a think Italian accent which adds to the authenticity of this tiny restaurant. We have booked to go again this Sunday, looking forward to trying their other pizzas and the coffee! Ciao :)

Hubby and I come here at lease once a week for lunch and tonight we tried them out for dinner. Firstly, lunch. Pizzas and Paninis are the focus. They have $5 pizza - lunch size specials which have such soft chewy dough that we just love with fresh ingredients and lots of cheesy goodness on top. We usually end up ordering margherita and hot salami plus a Nutella calzone. The Nutella calzone fresh out of the oven can burn as you just can't wait to eat it but it is so good fresh! They do have some sitting there if you can't wait but you can have them make the pizzas to order. It takes all but 5 minutes most of the time to make the lunchtime size pizzas. Haven't had the chance to try their paninis but they are reasonably priced with it priced based on how many items you want on it. Dinner- this place is pumping at night! We didn't book but came in early for dinner (6pm!). I'd suggest to book as it is so popular! They have those metre pizzas if you're interested but as we have it all the time, we thought we'd try their specials. We weren't disappointed! They don't have a standard dinner menu, it seems it's either pizzas or their specials which is how we like it. Christian seems to have his specials based on produce availability which works for us! We had full 3 course menu as we couldn't help but want all the specials. Entrees- The prawns wrapped in speck just brought out the flavoursome freshness of the prawns. It also came with some bread. The calamari and zucchini fritters were well fried. Not too oily and light. We had Tuscan pasta (Fisarmoniche pasta - had to look it up as I'd never seen it before!) with speck, Gorgonzola cheese and walnut. Sounds odd but it worked. Well balanced flavours and tasty! We also had the spaghetti marinara which had some clams, mussels, prawn and scallops. Pasta was al dente and had the seafood saltiness to it. Delicious! We couldn't resist having dessert even though we were so full! We chose the Tuscan dessert special as it was something a bit different plus the Tiramisnu. Our usual pizza chef from lunch time sold it to us when we spoke to him earlier in the evening that Christian's wife had made the Tiramisu. The tiramisu was just awesome and I'd come back just for it. Looks like they had some you could take away! The Tuscan dessert had cantuccini (biscotti) and a fig/almond tart which was the tiniest slice I'd ever seen but it was very rich so tiny for a good reason! The biscotti wasn't too hard and just right for after dinner and went well with hubby's macchiato. Definately a great place and the staff are so friendly. Always feel welcomed to come here even when the place is pumping and busy!

We had the 'Opera House' (king prawns marinated in garlic sauce, fresh tomatoes and avocado) and the 'Macquarie St' (bocconcini, roast tomatoes, grilled eggplant, olives and goats cheese) medium pizzas, which cost $18 and $16 respectively. Both were delicious and not overly greasy or salty, which is a common problem with delivery/takeaway pizzas. Wait time was incredibly short. We ordered at 6 pm and got an SMS from Menulog saying the pizzas would arrive at 6.50 pm, but they were at our door by 6.35 pm. I would definitely order from here again. The only complaint I have is re the $3 delivery fee. It's only a couple of dollars, but most places these days do free delivery for orders over $20.

Now if only my home also had lots of waiters so hot with their chiselled cheekbones, that would be fantastic! ;) Haha but really, this Italian restaurant is a classic example of a family-oriented eatery. Mostly Italian waiters, and a very traditional style of cooking. Our pizzas, as delicious as they were dripping in marinara, were so thin, they were similar to an Indian roti! But it was reminiscent of true Italian pizza no doubt. Their ravioli was lip smacking, and almost over drenched in sauce, but not chewy or dry and full of lovely flavour. But the king in all this? Pear and ricotta cheesecake. The sexiest love child of fruit and cheese I have ever tasted, it had a light and crumbly crust with a smooth filling covering bites of juicy pear. If you want a quieter evening without too much of an adventurous menu, this is the place to fill up on!

We drove there from the city and got there in like 15 minutes. Parking is as bit of a challenge, but luckily someone was pulling out and we got a spot. This place was packed! The kitchen was tiny, four chefs crowded around the stove making pizzas. We had to wait about 15 minutes and walked around. There were a few other restaurants, but they were all fairly empty. Got the pizza and it smelled so good. Couldn't wait to eat it. We ordered the fratelli's - with mushroom, rocket and proscuitto, the Napolenta - which had olives and sardines and the Gamberoni, which had prawns, garlic and lemon. The Fratelli was delicious and they didn't skimp on the proscuitto. The Napolenta was nice but not a fan of sardines. The Gameroni was yummy and the prawns were delicious! Great place for pizza, probably the best I've tried in Sydney so far..
