The concha is super good, better than HEB's lol it's soft and the dusting of sugar on top makes it extra sweet and has more of a crunch. The pink cake is better than most I've tried - it's SO tall and has a soft and moist crumb, the icing is sweet but thin so not overpowering. The prices keep going up very overpriced and just to get bad attitude from cashiers they are the main reason why me and my husband will not go in this business since my husband does not speak Spanish he gets different prices and over charged when he gos without me. I've visited 6 different b panadería in the last month n Mario's has the freshest and softest sweet bread and the lowest price $0.80 cents vs $1.35 everywhere else. $0.55 cents cheaper and a lot better n fresher bread. Upon entering, I was greeted with a cheerful "Hola!" The display case was filled with delicate and delicious looking pastries, made fresh in the wee-hours of the morning! They also have wonderful freshly made, home-made flour tortillas for $3/dozen. (YUM!) I picked several items, multiples of some, and filled a large bag full to the top with many different things. It was clean and neat inside the store. I will be back, and I recommend a visit from anyone who is looking for authentic Mexican bakery! Best Mexican pastries in San Antonio that I've tried. Excellent prices, always fresh. The conchas are a real treat, always pillowy soft. My two year old devoured his first one this weekend. The piggy cookies, molasses based, are amazing here. Basically try anything and everything. We are never disappointed, and gladly drive from castle hills to grab a bag of goodies. I've been coming to this bakery since I was young. The shelves are always full of fresh pan dulce. They have all the favorites like pan de huevo, empanadas, cuernitos, taquitos and other yummy things like doughnuts, cupcakes, cream puffs and cream horns. They also have the classic pink cake with sprinkles and a variety of cookies, including the one with the colorful round sprinkles and the sugar coated one with red jelly in the middle. The pan dulce is always fresh and the place is clean. Hint: if you're ever in the area in the early morning, stop in for the glazed doughnuts. They are warm and so soft and airy. read more

I'm a 90's kid, and as long as I can remember, we have bought our bread from this little spot and its NEVER disappointed. This is seriously the best pan dulce in all SA. I have tried so many from different shops and bakeries around town, none come close to the bread from here. I'm pretty positive it's done fresh daily because you can't beat the quality and taste. We have tried EVERYTHING from their offered items and while some shine more than others, nothing has ever fallen short of tasty. Family favs include the conchas, trenzas, orejas, elote de azucar, cuernito de azucar, blueberry muffin, pink cupcake and pink piedras (best piedras ever)!! They're simply a masterpiece of sweet, soft, moist, delicious goodness. There's no eggy taste in any of the breads which is a huge no-no, and the delicate background notes of mexican vanilla and cinnamon marry the sugary coating on each piece to perfection. The counter clerk had an attitude probably due to work related stress. They were short staffed at the counter and had a long line of customers waiting. We paid in cash and did not get a receipt when I requested one as the clerk stated the cash register was not working ( Not the first time I hear this at this location).
